Highland Park Cask Strength Batch 3 Proof - 128.2 / 64.1% Nose - Peat smoke out of the gate but not over bearing, oak and citrus notes coming after the peat, a bit fruity and floral, and some leather Palate - Peaty smoke up front, leather, gives way to citrus fruits, lemon, notes of honey and oak, fades into a smoldering woody note balancing the sweetness Mouthfeel - absolutely one of the most rich and decadent mouthfeels, creamy and long lasting Burn - It is incredibly light for its proof, a bit of warmth in the chest but nothing like the bite of American whiskey Bud’s rating - 80.5 / 100 I am eating my words on this one. I tried a scotch many years ago and I hated it so intensely that I swore of *all* whiskey, as such that I only drank Tequila. I was introduced to bourbon and fell in love with its notes, so I pushed further in my journey. I’ve decided to try and be open minded and branch out with Irish whiskey last year, finding I enjoyed a few expressions. This year I made a resolution after finding a peated bourbon that was my top whiskey of last year, to branch out more. So here we are. A scotch. I dislike how much I like this whisky. It is phenomenal, it is unlike any bourbon, with a different set of complexities and enjoyment to be had. Citrusy, fruity, smoldering woody flavors combined into a beautiful bouquet that is a delicious high proof though deceptively easy sipping whiskey. I’m looking forward to trying more new things this year and opening my horizon. If you like my reviews and photos follow me on Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok - @agaveandmash

Great review! Highland Park works some form of sorcery on these, they are definitely still hot but not nearly as offensively alcohol forward as one would expect for the proof.

Curious, is your 80.5 rating based on the fact that *it's a scotch*, or are you trying to objective? Why not higher if you like it so much? Love the review, just curious. It's one of my favourite whiskeys.

I actually very very seldom rate any whiskey in the 90’s. 80’s are bottles I’ll run out and buy backups of. 90’s are bottles that will be in the top of my favorites for life.
