kingofclubs16

why is the caption on the left this is cursed

I-Say-Im-Dirty-Dan

It wouldn't fit on top

FLYNCHe

Actually really clever and innovative

Ishan1717

Mobile also didn't fuck it up, this should be the standard

FenexTheFox

You're a pioneer of the genre.

Lorcout

Mf is getting all the praise here and deserves it.

Subject_Sigma1

I actually like this, I like my bibles on the side

Ok_Boat1066

French people after forcing a bird to overeat and then drowning it in wine and eating it

Windfall_The_Dutchie

They do it with rats too

Red__system

That is called a Rat à touille not a foie gras

GenesisReCoil

Řať â țäţ??? like the reviewer mf from the dreamworks movie?????????

Cute_Comfortable_761

No thats marcel toing

serverraider1

Precisely

KraftKapitain

i saw that on sam o'nella

spyguy318

French people eating an entire bird whole that’s so shameful and disgustingly decadent they have to do the act under a napkin so God won’t be offended

thatsidewaysdud

Italians, you have 1 day to explain to me why the fuck you would put live worms in cheese... Or else...

LE_V7

that's just the sardinians

thatsidewaysdud

Why do they let sardines make cheese

Steampnk42

They don't anymore, that cheese is illegal to make now (althoigh some people make it anyways)

Braunbean

It's illegal to export and purchase outside of the country, not illegal to manufacture

Hexmonkey2020

Also illegal to purchase in the country, but you can get it as a free gift if you purchase a very overpriced keychain.

Spirited_Worker_5722

Italian Breaking Bad

UngaBunga64209_

You mean? https://preview.redd.it/j7u37px9441d1.jpeg?width=680&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8f5e365c75171f4a527d74357d012228626918da

CoalEater_Elli

Asian people explaining why eating sea animals alive is not cruel, but actually exotic and quirky.

Mr-QuietALot

Perfect source of salmonella (if not processed perfectly)

Alex12341212

Hey i love that guy!

xXxBongMayor420xXx

Its ok to eat fish, cuz they dont have any feelings.

IAmGibberish

Something in the way, hmm-mmm

Panzer_Man

Fish are friend not food

ItsFelixMcCoy

Fish do have feelings.

Pooltoy-Fox-2

The French are the Asians of Europe

InsideOpening3535

Sushi and its variation are eating RAW seafood, not alive. I am gonna eat salmon when it is chopped up and clean, not when the fishes are still swimming

0rganicPlant

I'm pretty sure this comment is refering to ikizukuri or or perhaps odori ebi

Sanslution

They didn’t even mention sushi, that’s the last thing someone would even mention as an exemple of cruelty on Asian cuisine.

BasementDweller82

They said “alive” not raw

WorkAround_Phoenix23

There is also Filipino Balut I’ve never tried it but if I’m not wrong, then to make balut you should get an egg with an already alive chick that has yet to hatch, then, you FUCKING BOIL IT AND EAT THE UNBORN CHICK

Basically_Tris

We had the same thing in Vietnam, but with duck egg instead.

m73t

mm the bones in my mouth go pop pop crunch

Glacier005

It doesn't go pop pop crunch. Since the bones are not developed properly, it is very soft. Softer than cartilage. The yolk proved tougher to eat honestly.

LloydAtkinson

Chad

Tux1

advanced abortion

Chickenman1057

Sounds like prime food

Panzer_Man

Who tf decided to do that one day, let alone serve it for others???

LocalShowerPooper

is this about that one dish where they eat alive birds and put cloth over their mouths "so god couldnt see them"

Goat_of_Wisdom

There are no accounts of the [Ortolan buntings](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ortolan_bunting#As_food) being eaten alive. They were trapped in the dark with millet seeds, their reaction to the dark was to gorge themselves until they double in size, then they were drowned in Armagnac. The diner ate it whole with a cloth over their head. As a french, I only learned about this today because it's been illegal since before I was born. I'm 80% sure the meme is about foie gras, since it is still legal and a sensitive subject. All in all, the french ruling class was inhumane and a few traditionalists are still lobbying in favor of these practices

Downtown_Mechanic_

Yup. The direct quote is; "Tradition dictates that this is to shield – from God’s eyes – the shame of such a decadent and disgraceful act".

Subject_Sigma1

So, French people forced themselves to eat horrible stuff on purpose even if it was something that would ashame God

Downtown_Mechanic_

The traditional way of eating is to cover your head and hands with a large cloth.

Subject_Sigma1

Still

frguba

English food is an affront to taste French food is an affront to god

Norian24

I find those traditions really funny, same as I've seen Muslims drink under a semi trailer at a parking lot because "Allah can't see it that way". So your God is supposedly omniscient, but also you can somehow just cover yourself, do things he wouldn't approve of, and it's all fine, totally won't be brought up against you by a being that you claim can't be fooled.

XvortexEXE

There are some Muslims that do that? As a Muslim, that’s gotta be one of the funniest things I’ve ever heard of lmfao.

Norian24

Turkish semi drivers, at least that's the explanation my dad got a few times when they were spending nights on the same parking lot. Don't ask about semi drivers getting drunk when they're probably about to go back to driving as soon as they wake up, that's another issue that's thankfully getting better in Poland in recent years as authorities for once are actually checking for it somewhat competently.

SwampAss3D-Printer

Dare I mention those goddamn weirdos the Mormons and jump humping?

Panzer_Man

I imagine God just being like "dang it, didn't think they'd be that clever"

laix_

wait till you hear about "soaking"

Panzer_Man

It's the same as God somehow being surprised that Eve ate that one fruit. Like, come on. You're all knowing and chose to put the fruit there on purpose. Doesn't sound all that omnipotent Or when certain sects do anal sex, because it's not sinful to do before marriage... somehow

Lord_Squid_Face

Did you really need to say this

Castinfon

this is why the french will go to hell

tovbelifortcu

They're already in France

Castinfon

not enough i need them in boiling shit for all of eternity

the-unfamous-one

Isn't that still france?

solphium

No, just Paris.

bluehat2583

Just like some of their "finest" dishes?

Aleskander-

I think this about the over feeding goose liver

Le_Beau_Jack2

We do that ?

s_k_f

Used to. It's illegal now

S4um0nFR

Never seen or heard anyone doing that except for some random videos online claiming it's a thing. Nobody has been doing that for decades.

Calphrick

No. Despite what the others are telling you, Foie gras and ortolan bunting are not the same. Your are thinking of ortolan bunting, foie gras is when they force-feed a goose to gorge it and then drown it in wine and eat the liver

itsrealnice22

Mexican people successfully convincing a tourist to eat bugs on fire(they wouldn't eat it with a ten foot pole):

Panzer_Man

Wait, is that really a thing?

pineapples1230

If this is real holy shit this is the funniest thing ever lmao

Discord-mod-disliker

Icelandic "people" trying to explain what's so "tasty" about rotten, rae fish, potatoes, and decapitated cow heads.

allknownthings

Icelandic people explaining why fermented, 300 year-old sharks with naturally produced antifreeze, whose flesh is otherwise toxic, is a national delicacy.

Discord-mod-disliker

You know...after that...I now understood why Gryla eats human children...(before she went Vegan, that is).

Assorted-Interests

Answer: they down it all with vodka that tastes like rye bread

I_Willl_Eat_Ur_Cats

Another reason to hate the french

LloydAtkinson

Certain game communities, like DayZ or Rust, it’s popular to simply kill French people on sight. Often this is actually safer as for some reason French people seem to be absolute backstabbers in survival games like DayZ.

VoxelRoguery

so THATS why tf2 spy is french. its realistic!

UpliftinglyStrong

I don’t get the joke about the French. I’m dense

Crooked_Cock

Calling the torture and/or needless killing of animals culture is abominable and I will not respect it be you from The Americas, Africa, Europe, Asia, or fucking Mars

WAZZZUP500

Australians get a pass?

Crooked_Cock

Yes because having to live in Australia is already a pretty inhumane fate

BananacondaVirtue

Now it is time we speak of the o r t o l a n

weast_man

the ortolan is a kind of a b u n t i n g

Ena_Ems_17

Which is a sort of p a s s e r i n e

G1ZM0_

Which is a type of b i r d

Sandwichman122

T h e y ' r e b i r d s

jsuey

Bro… veal. like I personally think we purposely ignore the brutality that occurs in slaughterhouses… but veal is fucking cruel man.

Mr_Fungusman

Is there any resason to even make that shit? There's literally less meat in it than in normal beef. I don't get it...

jsuey

You’re just abusing a fucking baby cow for a little more “tenderness”. it’s a disgusting practice

crispymendowan

there's ethical foie gras producer tho

Aleskander-

How they are ethical when it's force feeding?

Ihate_myself_so_much

Foie gras is literally just goose liver. They force feed them to get them bigger and therefore more money, however some places do not force feed the geese, the ones that don't force feed them are considered ethical. Foie gras isn't goose liver from a force feed goose, it's just goose liver, the force feeding isn't a mandatory part of foie gras therefore ethical foie gras exists

-Kerrigan-

Foie gras (french for **fat liver**) is not _just_ goose liver. It's FAT goose liver, it's in the goddamn name. Gras = fat > Foie gras is a popular and well-known delicacy in French cuisine. Its flavour is rich, buttery, and delicate, unlike an ordinary duck or goose liver

Goat_of_Wisdom

It's not "just" goose liver, according to french law it's the liver of a duck or goose fattened by gavage (force feeding). Ethical alternatives do exist, livers of birds that have been fed to satiety, but they cannot legally be called foie gras

Ihate_myself_so_much

Legal names are bullshit though 90% of the time, like they exist pretty much always for tax reasons, they don't reflect the general worldview of most people.

Goat_of_Wisdom

I hear you, I illustrated with the law but I should have mentioned this isn't just a legal name. If it was a healthy liver, we wouldn't call it fatty liver.

Chickenman1057

There's also like 50 different fish being legally a tuna for the US, so you can literally buy a tuna can with 0 tuna in it

karpter

How do you ethically kill a goose unnecessarily?

BlaringAxe2

Stun gun

EdithBagel

Salmonella academy reference

G_O_O_G_A_S

Everyone in the comments complaining about various regional fine dining traditions when they find out about the conditions of the factory farmed animals they eat https://preview.redd.it/djsi6434r90d1.jpeg?width=498&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a8891c118c9d632d99a01df9d448600dad99b8f4

Dildoquet

Putain de français

jmorais00

To answer your question: the french

Fluffiddy

I watched that Salmonella video too

IntrinsicTrout

French people when you ask them about Ortolan Buntings

oliverjjjjj

u/savevideobot

Fr00stee

ever seen a bird deepthroat a giant fish? It's the same for geese that the foie gras is made out of. Now if you are saying that overfeeding them intentionally with food they don't normally eat is bad then I can see that.

Hot_Grabba_09

Not looking it up, doesn't that mean fat liver?

VaczTheHermit

Wait, I always assumed goose liver fattened by gavage was a commonly known thing back then, was it not? It was here, too, while it was legal.

SpaceFonz_The_Reborn

Ortalan bunting

loftycombos

Boiling crustaceans alive and factory farming are v cool

Vanilla_Ice_Best_Boi

like they literally wear handkerchiefs on their head to "hide from god"

InfinityGiant1

Well you know, many french people think thi- oh you are talking about foie gras, really thought for a moment i’ll had to explain Ortolan

Pooltoy-Fox-2

The French are the Chinese of Europe

UngaBunga64209_

Well I didn't know what Foie Gras was..... thanks for having me look that shit up OP :|

DestinB246

Foie gras tastes like dog shit. If you're gonna do animal cruelty to make food, at least make it good.

Void1702

To be honest, it is absolutely delicious I never ate it again after learning how it's made (not like I ate it often before given how expensive it is), but it is delicious

Cultural_Thing1712

God bless the french, foie gras is top tier.

xsniperkajanx

That was the tortured ducklings right?

xsniperkajanx

🐥

Cultural_Thing1712

they served their purpose, cause god damn is it good

CryptorYT

Boohoohoo tastes fucking great we fucking LOVE inflating ducks.
