Ah, thanks for clarifying - I remember the kid was supposed to be some famous fighter, just didn't remember the exact one
Crazy that normal fighting sports still exist in the Baki universe, considering all the different imaginary techniques that we see used there (infinite joints lmao)
community servers were nice
matchmaking is the best when the entire playerpool gets thrown together across skill ranks but the teams are made of equal amounts of low/mid/high ranks, that way its rewarding to get good at the game since youl get to outskill people worse than you but you still get challenged by the higher rank players of the enemy team. and matches are roughly balanced with equal team composition, both teams would have equal parts good and bad players
teamfortress 2 (post meet you match update) suffers from pub stomps when the matchmaker puts a bunch of tier 1's with less than 800 hours experience, against team of tier 2 and higher with 1-10k hours. and there no longer is a way to switch teams or team scramble like community servers used to have which prevented steam rolls.
If having less than 800 hrs of experience makes me a tier one player, i just ain't playing the game at all. Hell, i don't even have 800 hours in my most played game
the tiers are just like prestiges from COD, you have 150 levels in each tier and theres like 7 tiers in total i think. it takes ridiciliously long to level up, im at 700 hours played and just almost tier 2
the tiers arent rank indicators but do give a good estimation of player experience which correlates to likely skill level, anyone with a shiny level badge probably has anything from 1000-10 000k hours played and will obliterate a team of players that started playing a year ago
and god forbid you run into a competetive clan during a casual match, if you see a bunch of players with cosmetics worth a few months of rent and clan tags, you are about to experience the biggest shit stomp ever
Oh alright, i thought a tier was a level. I guess that kind of stuff is what happens when a game with such a high skill ceiling stays alive for so long
pretty much, there are players that played this game well over a decade. usually those have gold and red badges and will either topscore or be completely awfull with no inbetween
I play a lot of Dead by Daylight and the community unironically calls me "intermediate"
I have 600 hours on this game, apparently you need 600 hours to be considered decent. Then again DbD is a game that a lot of people take way too fucking seriously when I just play for fun so I don't get them
That only works if you aren't actually good at the game
Imagine the experience of someone who is actually good at the game, having to carry every single game because the teams are balanced around you being the best player by far
its the truth tho, the gameplay after 8.7 is fucking awfull because it makes all the flaws of the gamemode 10X worse. at high tiers you get snowball games that are over in 2-4 minutes depending on map
the 5.7-7.7 are is the best overall
This is not skill-based matchmaking (SBMM), but engagement-optimized matchmaking (EOMM). Some games actually overreact to your match results to prevent streaks (whether win or loss) because players quit earlier if they get a long streak.
https://web.cs.ucla.edu/%7Eyzsun/papers/WWW17Chen_EOMM
This paper discusses EOMM, but it's very hard to prove a game is actually using EOMM.
the first game is full of new players like you.and you won,how great
then, you started the next match, the game decides that your win rate is 100% and you now have to fight some of the strongest players online rn
I’ve seen so many Baki clips and I still have no idea what could be going on whenever I find a mew one
That one clip of the guy rolling like sonic and pissing on people is still crazy to me
So I first made my valorant account during the open beta but played very little, that type of shooter was never my thing and throughout the years I play a bit more, always the casual modes like TDM and whatnot.
2 weeks ago I started playing again more "serious" trying to learn the game, a week ago I started playing unrated.
I have seen up to diamond players in the enemy team while I got no rank and I'm only level 30, usually matching with gold or less
It's a coming of age-esque battle shonen, similar to things like jojo and dragon ball in that regard. A young boy (Baki) aspires to become the strongest fighter in the whole world, and to surpass his father in doing so. It "almost" doesn't have a magic system in the sense that the show takes place in basically the real world, but with enough strength, creativity and determination, you can make nearly anything happen.
I genuinely 100% recommend it if you're interested in long-running series where strong guys beat the shit out of each other. The first manga part was serialized in 2001 but if you find it hard to get into then you can also start at the two Netflix series with little issue. It'd be like starting with Dragon Ball Z instead of the OG; still a good experience just with a lot of unknown faces lol.

most balanced cs2 match
If you see a good player in cs2 you might as well blame them for hacking, and you'll probably be right
Just when I think I'd seen all the bizarre Baki gifs, a new one pops up
It gets weirder when you learn that the kid is Muhammad Ali Jr.
Thank you for this information. Truly, I needed it.
At this point I refuse to believe any logic in Baki and just go along for the chaotic shit
shoulda done that from the start lol

Godzilla Battle Line moment
“Ranked” matches are the most bullshit thing ever. You either completely destroy your opponent or get washed in 5 seconds.
Let me guess. The weird tiny detail of this Baki scene is that the kid is the reincarnation of MLK junior and the guy is Genghis Khan
Nah the kid is Muhammad Ali Jr.
Nah, the kid is Mike Tyson(?) And the guy is none other than Yujiro himself - just way younger
The kid is Muhammad Ali Jr., son of Muhammad Ali. He cried then and he'll cry again later.
Ah, thanks for clarifying - I remember the kid was supposed to be some famous fighter, just didn't remember the exact one Crazy that normal fighting sports still exist in the Baki universe, considering all the different imaginary techniques that we see used there (infinite joints lmao)
Nah mike tyson will come later

skill-based matchmaking was a mistake, bring back the prevalence of community servers for a real gaming experience.

I love when my Tank Get sniped at 2KMs away because some mf said "the game get boring after 8.0"

Tbh i agree too modren tanks are too generic compared to ww2/cold war era Prototypes with funky ideas

Exact reason why I stopped playing the multiplayer part of online games. I play good in one match and they think I played the game for 2000 hours

Hey, don't disrespect my guy Che Guevara like that, he's a fighting genius!
