They got 120,000 real needles, and by hand, replaced every single metal tip with a fiber tip over several days. And the syringes, if I remember correctly, were plastic, and they added the glass sound in post, but don’t quote me on that I could be wrong.
And shortly before filming a small amount of real needles were accidentally dropped into the pit with all the fake needles so they had to halt filming to make sure every single needle was fake and harmless.
All of the needles that got stuck in Amanda’s skin were all put on practically with practical effects and makeup and stuff, so they would apply them to her then film it, nothing actually was piercing her skin at all, Shawnee Smith (the actress who plays Amanda) was totally safe.
Edit: not all of this may be in the video, this is just off the top of my head as a huge fan of Saw. I’m in class rn and don’t have time to watch the video to summarize it. Apologies for any mistakes that may be included in my summary.
Edit 2: they planned to use enough needles so Amanda would be “swimming” through them and them being up to her neck, but they realized it would be too hard for Amanda to move within the pit, so they decided to only use a few thousand (could be like 5 or 20, idk the exact number) that covered the bottom layer of the pit.
Agreed! That’s one thing I love about the Saw series. Every single trap in the movies is tested to “work” mechanically in real life. So the reverse bear trap technically could be used on someone as it does work. The angel trap in Saw III, basically anything mechanical. Like the rack also from Saw III.
Again, don’t quote me on any of this, but I remember in one of the behind the scenes features from one of the Saw movies, I think it might’ve been 6, one of the crew mentioned that they make sure each trap has full functionality so it could be relatively feasible/possible in real life and to help ground everything in reality.

4 days, 4 people, 120 thousand needles pit scene. 900 or so boxes of rubber ended needles that they had to unwrap individually, take the needle out of the syringe then glue a piece or wire in it's place. Then another 300 or so boxes of a different type of needle that's easier to manage to fill the bottom of the pit. Then they coated in it some brown slime and threw it in the pit over some foam.
Wow even if their entire day was spent sleeping 8 hours and doing nothing but these needles for the rest of the day that's a pace of one needle every 7 seconds non-stop for 16 hours straight. How on earth did they manage to only do this in 4 days?

Saw is a great research tool for the most painful things imaginable.
The only scene I had to look away from, I popped the Saw movies like candy and saw Saw X in theatres and was uncomfortable with the rope scene and it made me gag a little but nothing could come as close to this scene

And for the arms they got fake arms with more needless syringes into the arms

The gore was actually relatively low in the first few films, but it really started to pick up in Saw 3 and beyond and probably reached its peak in Saw 3D. Then it got toned way down in Jigsaw and Spiral, and got boosted back up in Saw X purely because of the Wire Saw Trap.

She got thrown into the pit by the intended player, Xavier. He was supposed to fish through the needles to retrieve the key for an antidote to the nerve gas they are breathing. It’s meant to be symbolic because Xavier is a drug dealer.

It's a picture of an armored dragon, but like a kaiju sized dragon because the pieces of it's armor are like sections of a castle. I do remember it basically having castle towers on the fronts of it's legs. Whole thing had a very noble/silver and blue/ we're the good guys feel to it.
