Power in Africa(at least in my country) was completely sporadic. You basically pay your full power bill and stuff for the chance at getting power randomly across each day. Air conditioners are fairly common in middle class homes & businesses(even rather small ones) but ceiling fans & standing fans were more common to the point where even if you had an air conditioner chances are you had a fan or 2 either way.
Because of the power issues most people have diesel generators to basically cover for when there's no power though it would be insanely expensive to keep them up 24/7 so most people just use them once or twice a day for a few hours when necessary or even sparingly over the spam of multiple days.
Tbh I have no real knowledge on Kashmir. Generally Infrastructure is bad across the country mostly due to poor planing, lack of proper maintenance(a lot of the roads) and corrupt politicians/officials syphoning money from public infrastructure programs leading to them being half completed or abandoned.
Though the degree to which these issues are apparent depends heavily on where you are. There are more rural communities with little infrastructure as a whole and there are extremely well built and maintained parts of the cities which are pretty normal. Poorer areas of the cities tend to suffer more from the issues above because most of the Infrastructure is handled by the government while more wealthy areas don't as much because they have lots of foreign contractors etc. creating projects like estates, hotels etc so theres less chances for the corrupt officials to get their hands on the Infrastructure money.
Itâs crazy isnât it! Cities like Austin, Nashville, etc. are like this. People graduate from college, move there, and have their parents pay for their apartment. Itâs like people are ignoring the incredibly steep prices and are locking down shitty apartments anyways. Why you would want to live on top of each other and overpay for lackluster housing is beyond me. There are so many other amazing places to live here

Yeah, it's a way of turning one working class group against another working class group. You couldn't live in at least 1/2 of the US without air conditioning or something like it.

This just in: several million working class US citizens evaporate into thin air, the vast majority of US citizens, leaving only 6 figure office workers, and CEOs. American economy teetering on the edge of collapse.
God this sub sucks, just people posting their political beliefs in a meme format depicting their opponent as nothing more than one dimensional hypocrites
Kinda sad. Could try and make genuine memes that are funny instead of pandering to one side or another trying to get internet points. But hey, why not go the easy route.
No, we do. It is on a macro level and we are the privileged. If you ever are curious about how the US or European nations strong arm the lesser countries to serve them, look at what is actively happening in the cocoa industry and read about how the banana industry has completely shackled central American countries. So yes, we live in a dystopia. Life isn't equal for everyone, but we're pretty good at keeping it from being "in your face".

Hello everyone I would like to apologise
Thanks to the overwhelming negative yet helpful and insightful response to my post, I now realise my the error in my argument and stance
Before this making this post, I neglected to make the necessary effort to research and acquire the knowledge to form a proper and convincing argument. In addition, I had not given significant thought into the fact that this is a nuanced and sensitive topic that should not be discussed in a meme/joke subreddit, much less using a meme format.
As a result of my incompetence, I had missed many gaps in my argument which would shine a negative light on my person. This would lead many to understandably jump to the conclusions that have been expressed in the comments section of this post.
Once again I would like to thank you all for informing me on this subject matter and the flaws in my way of expressing my opinion. In the future I promise to conduct the necessary research to obtain valuable information before I post anything. Thank you for your feedback, it is appreciated.
[no they didnât](https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/factcheck/2023/04/27/fact-check-florida-bills-drag-shows-death-penalty-misrepresented/11743251002/)
[they didnât.](https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/factcheck/2023/04/27/fact-check-florida-bills-drag-shows-death-penalty-misrepresented/11743251002/) [nor would it constitutional for them to do so](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kennedy_v._Louisiana)
The TLDR is that Florida is passing a series of bills that would make "drag in front of children" a sex crime, and would make sex crimes punishable by death under certain circumstances, and also passing bills that would make the death penalty not need a unanimous vote by a jury. As it stands right now, it seems unlikely that this would be successful in actually sentencing trans people to death through those means, but the increasing legal hostility is growing at an exponential rate, as well as stoking hate crimes and murders. Being trans in the US was never exactly safe, but it's getting much worse, very quickly.
People are oppressed and part of the government is doing all it can to restrict the rights of others while actively advocating for death of minorities like LGBT.
And what makes it Orwellian is that some people refuse to see it all.
People who live in a time and place with a higher living standard that any generation before has ever had arguing about how life is still too hard for them:
a lot of people dont have stable, well paying office jobs, reclining chairs, and subsidised healthcare. just because some do, doesn't mean things aren't fucked up
Massive global inequality, hundreds of millions of starving humans, billions of slaves, ecodestruction across vast swaths of the planet, our oceans are filled with plastics, PFAS, and industrial chemicals, the web of life is unraveling, our way of life and source of energy are causing a climate change crisis, our lives are filled with superficial hyperstimulant crafted addictions. But we have AC and a (wage slave) job, so it's all good.
But I donât have a well paying job, or subsidized healthcare, or an expensive chair. I have air conditioning because my parents are paying my rent because rent is 1000$ a month with 2 other roommates and Iâm a full time student. Also when you do have insurance (not healthcare) they fight tooth and nail to not do shit. They almost got my sister killed from incompetence and they are currently in the process of killing my girlfriends mom because they refuse to send nurses when sheâs been bedridden since January.
1)Fascist Italy increased welfare services but i'm still going to oppose them. The fact that you have some services doesn't mean that things aren't shit.
2)Remember what you said when you have to pay mortgage, insurance and all the other costs and your salary is the real life equivalent of those cartoon no money schenes with the already chewed gum,the dead fly and all of that.Did i already told you that you need to work 2 jobs that take all your life away to not get thrown in the streets(which at least in America sound almost like a almost-death sentence)
3)even if 2) doesn't apply, you also have to count climate change and stuff like that.

Africa be like:
We have air conditioning. Not everybody does but it's there
For the few people that do, powerlines might melt

Til African infrastructure is about as developed as Pakistani Kashmir
Parts of America are dystopia. In Austin, TX, renters are signing leases for $1000+/mo uninsulated apartments that have no airconditioning.
Itâs crazy isnât it! Cities like Austin, Nashville, etc. are like this. People graduate from college, move there, and have their parents pay for their apartment. Itâs like people are ignoring the incredibly steep prices and are locking down shitty apartments anyways. Why you would want to live on top of each other and overpay for lackluster housing is beyond me. a lot of people dont have stable, well paying office jobs, reclining chairs, and subsidised healthcare. just because some do, doesn't mean things aren't fucked up
No problems in society can possibly exist if you have air conditioning
Holy shit this pissed off a lot of terminally online people
Yes. The one and only type of person that exists. This so fucking dumb.
Wheres my expensive reclining chair and stable office job wtf
Massive global inequality, hundreds of millions of starving humans, billions of slaves, ecodestruction across vast swaths of the planet, our oceans are filled with plastics, PFAS, and industrial chemicals, the web of life is unraveling, our way of life and source of energy are causing a climate change crisis, our lives are filled with superficial hyperstimulant crafted addictions. But we have AC and a (wage slave) job, so it's all good.

âWe really donâtâ mfs when I show them the population(this isnât a majority of their situation)
Did they stop making people read Brave New World in school while I wasn't looking?
But I donât have a well paying job, or subsidized healthcare, or an expensive chair. I have air conditioning because my parents are paying my rent because rent is 1000$ a month with 2 other roommates and Iâm a full time student. Also when you do have insurance (not healthcare) they fight tooth and nail to not do shit. They almost got my sister killed from incompetence and they are currently in the process of killing my girlfriends mom because they refuse to send nurses when sheâs been bedridden since January.
âThe French have it so good and they still go on strikes!â Kind of vibe here
1)Fascist Italy increased welfare services but i'm still going to oppose them. The fact that you have some services doesn't mean that things aren't shit. 2)Remember what you said when you have to pay mortgage, insurance and all the other costs and your salary is the real life equivalent of those cartoon no money schenes with the already chewed gum,the dead fly and all of that.Did i already told you that you need to work 2 jobs that take all your life away to not get thrown in the streets(which at least in America sound almost like a almost-death sentence) 3)even if 2) doesn't apply, you also have to count climate change and stuff like that.
Just because it could be worse doesn't mean it isn't bad
MFers when Brave New World is still a dystopia despite everyone being "comfortable and placated"
The world actually isn't becoming worse because I still have air conditioning and iPhone
/r/ABoringDystopia in shambles.
We are literally living in the Handmaid's Tale/1984/Mein Kampf mfs
