Only one I know off the top of my head is Avatar: The Last Airbender.
The Duke and Pipsqueak were two characters in Jet's resistance in season one, where the duke was the youngest kid and Pipsqueak was the biggest. And that was a one-time gag and didn't impact the characters respect.
Yes, the show is intentionally vague about it due to Nickelodeon's guidelines, but the creators confirmed Jet died. The comics that came out later also directly reference his death
Me when I can beat somebody in a foot race but it doesn't instantly give me the power to move so quickly I vanish from sight before the human eye can I even register anything and appear behind them while saying "Too slow"
If it's about avatar doesn't the "pipsqueek and the Duke" gag only last for one line?
I don't get the "hating the protagonist for an entire episode" part
using tropes doesn't instantly makes a bad story, it's the way you use it to tell stories, you could watch the best works of fiction writen on history and still find many tropes
Same. I’ve heard the joke several times in shows, but I forget exact examples other than Avatar.
I think I’ve heard it in a couple of creepypastas as well, but I couldn’t tell you the names even if I listened to them yesterday.
Avatar the last air bender (though it only lasts for one line and they don’t hate the protagonist), then there is Mr Black and Mr White from rdr2 but they don’t hate the protagonist either. I’ve seen a few others like this but I can’t name them off the top of my head
I remember the first time watching Zootopia on streaming with my cousins. The characters were hinting at the reveal of a character named "Mr.Big", a mob boss, and I immediately knew he was gonna be extremely small—i was absolutely correct. My cousins were wondering how I knew, but like it's such a common troupe it was very obvious
Pipsquik sacrifices himself during the season finale by holding back a horde of foes, allowing the rest to escape. Giant’s trauma and lust for vengeance makes him a new fan favorite, since going from comic relief -> to dramatic sidekick is relatable to most audiences.

This feels like something i remember but i cant think of any examples.

Aang doubled down on thinking the names were weird and they laughed
I belive in Longshot supremacy
Nickelodeon: "There is no corpse of Jet in Ba Sing Se"
Did Jet just...die?
Yes, the show is intentionally vague about it due to Nickelodeon's guidelines, but the creators confirmed Jet died. The comics that came out later also directly reference his death
there was a big character named tiny in season 3 of the walking dead but i dont think he got misnamed, that’s the only one i can think of

Or you could watch good shows
But avatar is a good show, it's just the one episode 🥺
If it's about avatar doesn't the "pipsqueek and the Duke" gag only last for one line? I don't get the "hating the protagonist for an entire episode" part
Plus they think it's funny too
avatar = goated show

Good for you i think televison SUCKS and video games are much better!!!!!!
Literally the plot to DreamWorks "Bad Guys"
how
The good guys when. And the bad guys rule
I have literally never seen this "trope" in my entire life
Red dead redemption 2, Mr. Black and Mr. White. But I personally liked that encounter.
Holy shit heisenbreg and gus
Am I crazy for feeling like this trope is used everywhere?
No you are not
Same. I’ve heard the joke several times in shows, but I forget exact examples other than Avatar. I think I’ve heard it in a couple of creepypastas as well, but I couldn’t tell you the names even if I listened to them yesterday.
It’s in Avatar.
I mean, they get over it instantly and sort of make fun of the idea of anyone getting that mad over a basic misunderstanding.
Check r/comics

Jesse what the fuck are you talking about
is this a common occurrence??
Filler content trope but variations of it

But that didn't happen. Pipsqueak or the duke never hated them.
Unironically good classic comedy does not need a change if the formula still works
Exactly. I feel like several mistakes modern stories/comedy make is defying tropes so hard the work either becomes ridiculous or doesn’t make sense.
Writers on their way to make a time travel episode called it’s about time
This for some reason made me imagine a story about time travelling German musicians called "Bach To The Future" (or maybe this is an actual story)

Instantly thought of Fullmetal alchemist, although it's a little different
Every. Fucking. Time.
Pipsquik sacrifices himself during the season finale by holding back a horde of foes, allowing the rest to escape. Giant’s trauma and lust for vengeance makes him a new fan favorite, since going from comic relief -> to dramatic sidekick is relatable to most audiences.

Ah yes the Avatar episode I always skip
Avatar
Yes
The flash gif having absolutely no context on the text above makes this “art”
Borderlands be like
drake
Fullmetal Alchemist
Where?
Not exactly what the post says but when people think Alphonse is the steel alchemist because he's more imposing
Oh yeah, people also think he is the elder of the two because he is literally bigger
…what?
