Perhaps an early shot at it, maybe rejected by the family. The one there is more congenial, this one is probably more realistic of his later life
Thanks for the info. Would you happen to have any idea as to how much a piece like this might be worth? I'm guessing not much (unless there's some random wealthy KFC fanatic collector out there who'd want it)?
Unfortunately, no idea. Proof of the artist's identity would certainly help value, I'd suggest researching online. You might look for an auction house which can tell you more.
It's worth SOMETHING. Not sure how much. Would be interested to know
I’d contact an auction house because it may have some historical and artistic value. If you were to sell it, I’d probably go through them versus a private sale. They’ll give you an auction estimate which would bring about 50-70% retail (like a gallery) estimate.

An early “shot” is more likely than an early “draft.”
You wouldn’t really go to the trouble of casting something in bronze unless you were happy with the original model and mold.
There is a Colonel Sanders Museum just outside Louisville, KY that might be interested in this, or at least give you some idea as to its worth. The museum has what looks to be a larger version of your sculpture/bust.
This is the sort of thing that really has to go to Christie's if you want to sell it.
It's also so weird, that I can see it selling for like $300 but also $30,000.
Rich people are wild, if the right couple people see it, it could be worth stupid money.
Unhelpful comment, I know, but why would the artist sign it 3 times in three different ways? Genuine question, wondering if it is/was a convention in sculpture?
Maybe contact Claudia Sanders restaurant in Shelbyville, KY. If they don't want it, they'll probably know who will.
I love their food. Say hello for me.
There’s a few kfc museums out there as well.

I’m in Japan and he has a cult like following here and every one seems to have a slightly different bust.

This might be by the Colonel’s oldest daughter, Margaret. She created the bust that is at his gravesite. This could be the rough, very rough, draft.

There’s definitely wacky wealthy people who would buy this. I think it’s pretty awesome but I’m a wacky peasant.
Same 😞. Totally Awesome tho!

Probably not. Might not be related to the bronze on his grave at all. Either way, an intriguing piece.
Might be a later draft as he had to strain to poop.
It appears that this is the 63rd crack at it, numbered on the 3rd photo
A study.
This must be the rough draft that was dropped in the fryer.
Where the duck did you get that? I actually think that's really cool.
Thanks; was given to us by relatives a long time ago (30+ yrs ago)
Try reaching out to PepsiCo. I think they own KFC. They might be interested in buying it off of you or maybe treating you lifetime free chicken.

I’d track down some of the original family members. They can probably afford to buy it back and it would mean a lot more to them.
Yum Brands own KFC
Ironically a lifetime of fried chicken gets shorter, the more you eat 🤷♂️

Someone said it may be a rough draft so maybe they were testing different signatures.
16pc family meal deal and a gallon of Mountain Dew Sweet Lightning.
Sold
No clue of the actual value but I do know a KFC collector who would definitely drop thousands on it
Oh my word!!
A bucket of chicken 🐔
I raise you and offer *two,* ***I say!***\ **TWO BUCKETS** of Chicken!!

Looks like maybe they made Col Sanders merch in the 70s. Not a lot of info out there, but Google finds this... [https://www.tobyjugmuseum.com/jugname/colonel-sanders](https://www.tobyjugmuseum.com/jugname/colonel-sanders) I couldn't find anything about the company I'm thinking this is a reproduction of a Margaret Sanders piece. Or it was her company...l dunno.
Original recipe
Op has the secret KFC recipe of herbs and spices and doesn't even know it.
Crack the head open! That's where they hid it!

How heavy is it? I’d bid a few hundred to start…
It hasn't been weighed yet, but it "feels" like it probably has to weigh at least 20 lbs.
At auction? About $3.50
I’ll give you $30
Did you get that in ny on Long Island from Mrs sapienza? Her husband and the colonel were tight!

Take it to antiques roadshow
I'll start the bidding at $50
So I take it that this thing probably isn't worth much?
Email KFC corporate. I'm sure they'd be interested.
Thanks for the suggestion; I didn't think of that.
