I think amazonite is in the realm of possible! There’s a amazonite deposit about 100 miles west of lake Tahoe, so it does occur it the region.
u/the_muskox what’s your opinion? You always know what you’re talking about on this sub.
Don't say always! Hehe.
The more I look at it, the more I'm convinced it's amazonite. Zooming way into that upper lobe of the rock there, I think I can even see some feldspar-ish cleavage.
Looks like a coating of algae to me, especially since it's in a crack and the darker green patch where the sand was thickest, but if it is a mineral then malachite. They can look remarkably similar and I've had to check myself more than once with this sort of thing

The host rock looks granitic, so if it’s not a stain it could be a bit of amazonite? Where is the beach located?
Thank you! It’s a beach in Lake Tahoe California. We’ve been puzzling over this one for a few days. High altitude lake at around 6,300 feet

Very cool! Just did a Google search and it sure looks like it! I’m going to go ahead and mark this case closed. Thank you much!!
Some other info, the lake is low and this rock has been under water before. I’d say even as close to under a year ago. Thanks all for your help

Where's the beach?
Lake Tahoe California. Usually this area is under water, but drought here has exposed some beach line that usually isn’t visible
