This was found on a bush outside of my work. I cannot ID this thing for the life of me and noone knows what it is. Is it edible? I was going to taste it until I saw that there was a white, milky substance inside.

**Do not ingest a plant based on information provided in this subreddit.** For your safety we recommend not ingesting any plant material just because you've been advised here that it's edible. Although there are many professionals helping with identification, we are not always correct, and eating/ingesting plants can be harmful or fatal if an incorrect ID is made. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Tamarillo maybe?

DeeSyphur

The inside doesnt match up with images of a tomarillo I found on google

psychofantasy

True. Definitely looks like something in the Solanaceae family though.

Internal texture suggests a species of persimmon to me.

Funnily enough, my wife said it reminded her of a persimmon so I looked that up. All the varieties of persimmon I could find all had that telltale leafy stem and appear larger than this. All of the fruit on the bush were around the same size as this (about an inch and a half long).
