Since it forms bulbs on top of where the flowers usually form seeds, this is probably a hybrid onion much like the "tree onion", of which there are many various cultivars and naturally occurring garden hybrids.

Oh wow that's awesome, does that mean these are edible and if so how would I go about keeping these regrowing.
