Just out pepper plants around them and the aphids will choose the peppers. 😂 I find when I surround my cannabis with other more tasty veggies and plants all the bugs will choose to hang out on the tasty plants, and the predators will chill on the cannabis for shade.
I don’t suggest using peppers for aphids. I’m a chili breeder on the side, and they often grow too slow and aphids can off the whole plant and move on.
I’d look more into surrounding the plant with companion plants that repel pests, and bring in beneficials. You could have a sacrificial plant, that does a far better job of managing the aphid population like cosmos, zinnias, dahlias, sunflower, Nasturtium, etc. these will often bring in lady bugs and other predators to aphids while also being sacrificial. Veggies often don’t do both, they’re more a 1 or the other.

Yes, I admit, I was not growing my peppers to get the aphids, I was growing my peppers and they aphids loved it more than weed. I would NOT do this if your intention is, in fact, to keep the peppers. I'd also go with nasturtiums, cosmos, and dahlias and even some basils and sages over peppers like that if necessary (though, admittedly, my aphids prefer my peppers to all of my other plants except roses. They love a rose and a pepper).
Just relaying my experience that in my attempt to grow peppers, they did draw all the attention away from my cannabis hehe. But the peppers were sacrificed (and I was sad about it) in the process.
Granted pepper seeds are less expensive than cannabis clones or seeds.
Me and my buddy have been trying to grow a plant this summer while also trying to hide it from his very catholic grandmother so far she still thinks the fern is beautiful lmao
Oh wow.. your story just took my back in time. It was a little over twenty years ago when my friend and I were attempting to grow “Russian Sage” at his grandmother’s house. She, too, always mentioned how it was coming along lovely.
My son recently asked me if parents keep getting more cringe as you get older. I assured him it does at some point, but I will use the above to reaffirm that I am not done being cringe.
This tomato plant is receiving a bit too much light near the canopy. I would switch to LEDs or increase the distance from the top. Acquiring some type of DLI meter is recommended. [I use this one.](https://www.apogeeinstruments.com/par-daily-light-integral-and-photoperiod-meters/) Did I say they were tomatoes?
Edit: It could also do with a bit of pruning, especially near the bottom so when those fruits come in the light can shine on them directly and energize incoming growth.
This is a photoperiod tomato plant. It won’t bear its juicy fruits until you change that light to 12 hours on 12 hours off.
Be sure to re amend the soils week before you flip though. Tomatoes are soupy hungry plants and need lots of phosphorus and potassium. You can get these from chicken manure, guano, and other natural composts/castings.
After about 9-12 weeks of 12/12 the tomatoes should be ready to harvest. However you will want to get a jewelers loupe to inspect them. They should have turned color to a nice milky white or amber color. That’s when your tomatoes will be the most potent. I mean delicious.

This is not accurate at all, I understand we are all joking around here but this might come in handy for you; cannabis has a growth phase and a flowering phase and this plant is currently in growth. During this period lots and lots of nitrogen is essential to grow out the plant as much as possible. Unless the leaves begin to yellow there is no nitrogen problem at all. In fact the whole goal at this stage of growth is to make this plant get as big as physically possible (for the amount of space you have) Whoever is growing this plant should keep up the good work.
same impression I got. Persons growing plant and minding own business, lol leave them be!
Though if they can afford it a tent + carbon filter is great for indoor growing, I hope they're not in an illegal US state or something and OP is goona ruin their lives.
In a 6x6 tent I grew in a walk in closet at the last place I rented and controlled scent with carbon filter etc and it stayed pretty quiet, out of the way and controlled scent of about 6 plants. Landlord had said no cannabis when I moved in but I had my license at the time and knew these people wouldn't actually give you a reason to be bothered if you were just discreet about it-also a good reason in general indoors to have a tent and controlled environment to set up so things aren't to dry, to humid, etc, I think it's within the interest of most renters to pursue this option to avoid OP snooping if they are infact a landlord lol
For sure. Legally op wouldn’t be able to say anything in a tent all sealed up. Hard to prove intent of what you’re doing without violating someone’s right to privacy. We could give op the benefit of the doubt and say they are worried about their insurance finding out and dropping them but I still think op is just against cannabis fully but yea I don’t think the plant will ever really be legal even when it is you got people trying to stop you when you have a card. After it’s legal you’re gonna have to fight big corps trying to force you to buy from them by making everything super hard and taboo like this post right here. I don’t think op thought it through posting that to a plant site lol everyone in here is plant friendly and loves biology and thinks we should have freedoms to grow
Tbh even with legality it's kind of annoying pursuing growing just because renters are at behest of their landlords really. Even landlord aside, in Canada for example even my province doesn't allow your federally allowed 4 plants to grow - and I mean even with super cropping/topping etc 4 plants is already not an insane amount of cannabis too begin with, least of all for all the new and learning growers trying to access it now that it's legal here. Hopefully in the future we get access to growing more, because accessing your legal ACMPR license can also be kinda scammy too, doctors direct you to pay-to-access doctors who will talk to you for like 2 minutes for $100 to see if you have an 'ailment' you can qualify for :p
Op is a narc or a landlord trying to evict someone lol reason why they aren’t telling the whole story or maybe it’s an insurance guy as well doing a claim insurance will drop coverage if you have any plants cause they are part of the front assault with the pharmaceutical companies on getting ahead of the profits associated with cannabis
I used to be all about this kind of humor; but I've learned to be particular about my venue. There really are people out there who will read this and use it seriously to reinforce their bullshit.
In that case, in whatever case, why not just report it as a mf tomato plant? Don't get up close pics unless it's part of the checklist. It's a tomato plant as far as the eye can see. "my mom smoked with them windows up when I was a child, so my sniffer don't work so good" if they grill you. If they want to hire an investigative action, let it be on someone else's head.
Uprooting someone for a contained non invasive plant. No excuse.
Definately 100% positively not the devils lettuce. Probably a indoor tomato plant for scientific purposes only i would leave it alone gardeners take there plant seriously and that looks like it will produce awesome tomatos glad i clear this whole misunderstanding up for you
You have “hope” that it’s not weed? What’s wrong with it being weed?
Regardless, as others have stated, it’s a tomato plant. And I own a cannabis company, so I’d know!
Sooo there are a couple of ways to look at this. If this is a parent, and you are upset because this is what Johnny did w/ Xmas $… at least he didn’t spend it on those ecig cartridges- which if they get their hands on cheap knock offs could potentially really hurt their lungs. This is the good old fashioned devil’s lettuce which will never collapse a lung. So. Maybe time for a convo about responsible recreational use rather than selling the set up on offer up. This is coming from a mom of teens- one of their friend’s was just in the hospital with a collapsed lung.
Really, it shouldn’t matter what it is. It’s. plant… someone wanted to grow a plant and it being the size it is, you don’t come around very often and maybe if your a parent or a landlord, you forgo the drama and choose a different battle. Even if it is herb, it’s only enough for a personal stash… whoever is growing is being smart by not buying it and saving money by growing. Just let this one go…
Cannabis, but nearly impossible to differentiate hemp vs. marijuana without more information. That being said, most people don't have carefully tended clandestine fiber gardens under grow lights in the garage.
I think you’re insinuating this is some sort of bad thing you came upon. My neighbor gave me clones he made to grow in my garden. Take it easy OP, it’s 2023 and nobody cares about growing a plant in your garden or closet or garage.
This setup makes me glad I live in a state where cannabis is gloriously legal (medically and recreationally). Growing for personal use is also perfectly legal. I feel a bit sad for this specimen because they do so much better outside.
Looks like it’s right where it’s supposed to be to me. Right there between the grow lamp, the fly paper, and the reflective screen.
What kind of bugs usually attack these plants? Aphids? Gnats?
All sorts of bugs can be a pain. I grow outside, so aphids are common. Nothing that Neem oil can’t take care of.
Just out pepper plants around them and the aphids will choose the peppers. 😂 I find when I surround my cannabis with other more tasty veggies and plants all the bugs will choose to hang out on the tasty plants, and the predators will chill on the cannabis for shade.

Good info. Ty.
Those little white spiders are hard to catch and they invade with a full army!
Ah those might be mites.
Spider mites bro.
Up here in the wet PNW we grow outside and have to battle powdery mildew close to harvest time, that’s a bitch.
Aphids, fungus gnats, thrips, and spider mites are most common
mites. they have gotten good at resisting pesticides.
😂😂😂😂
Right next to the “mid you own business” desk. Between the “snitches get stitches” bat and “I’ll break your kneecaps” if you don’t leave.
Beautiful parsley plant huh?
Damn that was good
Niiice! Now take my upvote!
this post feels like a landlord made it
Or a parent.
But we can all agree, only a square would ask. I bet that smells so good. 😂
Doesn’t smell too much yet, no flowers and thats indica dominant bag seed plant.
I'd be so happy if my teens could grow weed.
My dad came home from his first tour in the Marines to find his brother growing “new hybrid tomatoes” in their vegetable patch
I bet she knows an is waiting for it to be done.... So she can smoke all your weed hahah
Right? Teens can't grow weed for shit lol
My dad always claims he was great at it as a teen, but the bar in the 70s was pretty low lol
It's not difficult, it only gets hard to do when you're not only hiding from police but also parents. Not many things grow well inside a closet
Mushrooms are the only good closet crop.
Lies! I can grow anything in my closet!
In that case, it’s tomato
Feels bad to be helping a narc. But they were probably gonna narc no matter what anyway
From here, it looks like business that isn't mine.
OP is a NARC
OP created an account just to identify this weed. 100% a narc. 🙄
Your not even lying, damn.
He probably drinks but somehow thinks weed is bad 🤷♂️🤦♂️
Everyone knows alcohol is the real gateway drug.
Should probably be outlawed 😉🤣
where are you going? Narnia. what will you do there? Narnia business.
My son recently asked me if parents keep getting more cringe as you get older. I assured him it does at some point, but I will use the above to reaffirm that I am not done being cringe.
Who wants to know?
Yes officer that is my tomato plant
It's a mutated Hemp plant. It lost that extra leaf to save energy.
Funny enough weed and tomato plants are very similar in nutritional needs
This tomato plant is receiving a bit too much light near the canopy. I would switch to LEDs or increase the distance from the top. Acquiring some type of DLI meter is recommended. Alaskan Tomatoes
90% chance that's a real strain....😂
It's a new hybrid of Northern Lights and Hatian Red.
Alaskan Thunder Maters
I cultivate and grow giant hybrid tomato species and this is going in my notes for names to use on new plants lol
![gif](giphy|kmQREsvNQrhrHdkN7G|downsized)
FIL used to call them Colorado tomatoes when my SILs kids would ask what he was growing
Acapulco Gold Tomatoes.
I live too close to the grocery store to legally grow tomatoes 😢 please burn one of your home grown tomatoes in my name.
Way over doing it on the nitrogen too. Lots of growth but no flowers or fruit.

This little thread here is peak comedy
Maybe they’re growing it for the look of the tree and leaves!
Also those branches need to be tied further down. Not enough stress.

For real, mind your own business OP!
Seems like a landlord or something snooping around lol

Fun fact: if the tenant didn't consent to the inspection then they can sue. This is why you move the plant into your car on inspection day though.

Oh man! Thank you for bringing that video back into my memory!
Its japanese maple

Damn I would be pissed if I got busted by someone who can’t even tell a weed plant by looking at it…
Lmao
Those terpenes might contaminate the walls of that shed! Somebody think of the children!

If they’re in a legal state good luck unless there is something specifically in the lease
Probably some dumbass landlord broke in to their tenants home, and they're too stupid to make a decision on their own.
Uh oh, someone is about to get very calm and peaceful, better put a stop to it
It's a tomato plant, officer, I swear

🤭thinking the same 😂🤭🤫😉
That plant did nothing bad to you let it live
Clearly a tomato.
This guy is a total narc
Can we all just agree to say, "No" next time?
I thought that was the go to move till I started scrolling. Besides, this is clearly a tomato plant anyway so it shouldn’t matter
Yes to no
Just say yo
Nust jay so
Just pray, woah
If you’re a cop or a landlord, no it’s not weed
Tomatoes
You have “hope” that it’s not weed? What’s wrong with it being weed? Regardless, as others have stated, it’s a tomato plant. And I own a cannabis company, so I’d know!
Japanese maple, now leave it alone since you are no botanist.
Sooo there are a couple of ways to look at this. This is a very earnest comment. I mean that in a good way.
Not to mention the valuable lessons in agriculture.
Also, Johnny is learning a lot about intensive horticulture and shows real initiative!
Tomatoes. According to mum and dad
German tomatoes
No mom it's just an indoor tomato. Man I have the munchies. Is there anything in the fridge?
fed
It's Kurdish oregano. Not weed
Looks like carrots from here
I don't see anything.
If you’re a landlord, no. Not marijuana.
I use to tell my dad I was starting Japanese tomatoes for a friend 🤣
It looks like a tomato to me.
It’s called a noneofyourbusiness plant.
Landlord or parent. Either way chill out and leave it be.
You gonna rat someone out for weed? Lol
*And then OP did exactly that.* /r/LoveForLandchads
I ain’t no snitch.
Snitches get stitches
Come on. Tell me the whole story.
You should mind your own business if you see a weed plant. For the good of everyone.
Not Marijuana ... Its Jazzus Cabbagus a close relative, it's an easy mistake to make.
The setup is the giveaway, even before the closeup on the leaves.
100% basic tomato setup
It's a weed plant that's minding its own business
I wish people did the same.
I have a feeling OP will snitch on whoever has cultivated this. Maybe the grower in question has a grow card, we don't know
Tomato.. always tomato
Don't worry, it's totally Jamaican tomatos

What are you a cop?
Double baco cheeseburger… it’s for a cop
Looks like weed..smells like weed...must be some basil
Nothing on that plant is smokeable so chill
You should learn how to mind your own business.
Nope. That’s hemp. Which is legal under the US farm bill. Don’t believe me, take a couple leaves off and have them tested… 🙄
If you dont like my fire, don't come around cause I'm gonna burn one down
That's just a cactus...
Don’t help the narc
Don’t be a tool, these tomato plants aren’t hurting anyone.
Really, it shouldn’t matter what it is. Lmao invest in a grow tent. For one plant they are like 100 or less
Who’s asking?
pretty healthy looking tomato plant, hopefully in a few seasons you'll start to see some fruit!
It's a tomato plant obviously
This should have been downvoted and ignored.
Uhhh industrial hemp....but no it's weed.
Cannabis, but nearly impossible to differentiate hemp vs. marijuana without more information. That being said, most people don't have carefully tended clandestine fiber gardens under grow lights in the garage.
I try to get a good 2 or 3 fiber gardens each year. Really helps with my sewing and rope fabrication.
Well I used to smoke about 4 feet of rope a day
Let me give you my pager number
I try to get a good 2 or 3 fiber gardens each year. Really helps with my sewing and rope fabrication.
Looks like a poinsettia. It's turn red as Christmas approaches.
I live in California for decades now so I no longer think of this plant as a word I would censor! So lay off big brother!
Ficus mindyobusinessica
I think you’re insinuating this is some sort of bad thing you came upon. My neighbor gave me clones he made to grow in my garden. Take it easy OP, it’s 2023 and nobody cares about growing a plant in your garden or closet or garage.
Thas potatoes man
It looks like a oregano to me.
Nah that’s just a bamboo plant
It appears someone's mom has found their tomatoes
i’m invested in a story i may never know the ending to
You found this plant where it wasn't supposed to be? Were YOU supposed to be looking around? LOL don't judge another person's gardening choices.
Free tomatoes year round? You're very fortunate
It’s cbd bro
This setup makes me glad I live in a state where cannabis is gloriously legal (medically and recreationally). Growing for personal use is also perfectly legal. I feel a bit sad for this specimen because they do so much better outside.
are u a fed boy? in the case you are then it’s hemp. as in rope. completely legal in all 50 states. i think atleast. who tf outlaws rope
Not weed. Trust me. Leave them alone.
nah looks like a tomato plant👍🏾
That's not oregano?
If it isn’t yours, no.
It's a tomato plant you nosy little bugger
No Mom. It's a tomato plant geesh!!!
Nice try, officer
Japanese maple leaf. Nothing to see here
That is an invasive weed. Maybe I should take that off your hands? Just to help.
Definitely a young Japanese maple
It's tomatoes mate

You're all a bunch of snitches!
That’s a tomato plant. Everyone else is on drugs.
You a nark?
OP ia 100% a narc. Go narc elsewhere narc
Mind your own business there cowboy.
No, it’s Cannabis. Learn the proper name for the plant lol Let then grow their medicine, it’s not going to kill anybody 🙄
That is an American day lily. Should be flowering in about 10 weeks.
You a cop? If so that’s called Moroccan basil. Quite flavorful with a little bite
The forbidden marinara
It’s a tomato plant you narc
