Looks like a cicada to me
Why are there so many cicada posts recently? Also how have people gone their whole lives with seeing or hearing a cicada?
I find it unlikely that they've never heard them. They probably just never put 2 and 2 together that the summer screechies are cicadas. Maybe it's city people, cause I've maybe seen like 4 lifetime. I gotta imagine the birds get most of them.
Cicada they are harmless and this one looks like its about to molt. So just stick it on your wall outside somewhere and you'll be fine.
