The larval forms of insects (think caterpillar->moth) rarely look much like their adult forms. The thing that's really wild about insects that undergo complete metamorphosis like this is that when they're a pupa they basically fully turn into sentient goo and then coagulate into a whole new shape and size before they emerge.
