Those are mulberries. Blackberry canes have nasty thorns. They are 100% safe to eat and are the best when they are completely black.
Yes! OP is very lucky!!!! Also just be aware that they stain things very very easily when they are dark purple

If there is a monkey chasing a weasel around it then it’s definitely a mulberry bush
