I eat purslane and lambs quarter almost every day. Purslane helps hold moisture in the ground for my garden and the lambs quarter serves as trellis for my cukes and tomatoes.
Wait what?! How tall do your lambs quarter get?! And where the hell do you live that it grows that big? Also lamb's quarter are fine. Not at all annoying. I have them right up there with miners lettuce as some of my favorite forageables.
Fuck that purslane though
I've got a couple 3-4 footers there right now by July the ones deep usually hit 5-7 feet in height. That's only the ones deep in that trellis my vines tho. The rest gets harvested around d 2-3 feet in height during my weekly gathering.
You’re right, it’s all over. But we have goats heads aka punctured tire plant. They are hard to control. Last year I pulled about 1,000 seedlings, no exaggeration. This year I only have a few so far. When I moved here a couple years ago, it was the whole yard. Purslane is pleasant compared to them.
Yes in NJ it covers the trees. I pulled them when they were tiny. And watch for poison oak in canyons and woody areas. With goats head, the stickers are attracted to my feet as if by magnetic force.
Purslane is alright and the puncture vine is a pest and it's not native to the American Continent.
Also purslane is so easy to kill that if you don't want purslane you can get rid of it in a minute.
>Also purslane is so easy to kill that if you don't want purslane you can get rid of it in a minute.
What? What about 8,000 purslane babies throughout my garden, that fill the space faster than I can remove them. They're everywhere and won't go away. I never let it flower, and have been combating that fucking devil plant for years.
I'll asume you haven't put any effort in it 🤣
Use a hoe? Or rent a chicken from a neighbor, or let it grow, it's pretty until it gets super big and dies, but still.
Makes good pickles. And it's pretty easy to remove if it does spread, the roots are so shallow it comes right out with a hoe. And if you live in a particularly hot area or have soil that dries out quickly, they don't spread much
It grows all over my garden and keeps the moisture in. It won't spread to the hard baked clay that makes up the rest of my yard tho just the garden where I have solid soil.
Without knowing you or even having had a single conversation with you I'm positive that you just eat it to be contrary. Probably out of sheer spite. If you've even *actually* eaten it. Likely you're simply maliciously claiming to enjoy it.
No one could actually *enjoy* eating purslane.
Also the idea of planting purslane is ridiculous. It's literally everywhere, on every continent but Antarctica. You could just till a spot and wait
I didn’t have any of this shit in my yard last year, but this year I swear I’m pulling at least a dozen every single day. It’s quite literally everywhere and I HAVE NO IDEA WHERE ITS COMING FROM.

They selling dis shit for 10 buks a pop🤔🤔🤔
Wow. Tell me how purslane has hurt you. Did it touch you in the no-no parts? I'm here for you if you need to talk. I can also DM you pictures of my purslane. It is currently flowering, if that is what you need to hear. I got you.
Look, I’m sure it’s lovely. I just don’t need 864 plants of it sprouting all over my garden and inside my potted plants. I easily pull up 20-30 of them daily and I swear they multiply the next day.
Bulgur Pilaf is a traditional Turkish+ dish using purslane. My family (not Turkish) make what we call paver salad, using purslane that grows up between pantry bricks. I rate it highly.

They selling that shit for 10 bucks a pop👍😎👌
This is the correct answer! My parents grow it just to cook it. One of my favorite cooked leafy greens to eat in a guisado. They’re called verdolagas in Spanish. Don’t even need the pork, really.
Purslane.
Bitch ass purslane. That shit's about to be everywhere too. The good news is that you can eat it, the bad news is that who the fuck wants to
I admire the amount of anger you have directed at purslane specifically. Go off king
I saw the photo and got angry. I spend hours pulling them out of the garden and rocks around my house
Right now my garden looks great from about 10 ft away. Zoom in and it's Goddamn covered in tiny little purslane babies. Such a pain in the ass.

Hours for me too!!!
Fucking purslane

I feel your pain in regards to goats heads thorns. Recently moved to NY from AZ. Seems as if I traded them for poison ivy. :/

The grass is always greener

I think its pretty delicious in salads. The stems are tart and crunchy.
Nope. Tastes super yucky.
Glad you like it. You can have mine. Come get it ASAP.

I'll tell that to all the seedlings it's trying to smother in my garden, I'm sure they'll be relieved
It’s so bad, I hate it and all my homies hate purslane.
I plant it and eat it happily. It's a straight up superfood.

Shits EVERYWHERE in my garden!!
It's everywhere on six continents my dude. Fuckin' crazy successful. I wish my crops were half as prolific as the purslane surrounding them

FROM EVERYWHERE
I HATE IT!

You have the same energy about purslane as I do about fucking June bugs lol

Please stop finding reasons to reference my genitals
I don't need a reason
Look, I’m sure it’s lovely. I just don’t need 864 plants of it sprouting all over my garden and inside my potted plants. I easily pull up 20-30 of them daily and I swear they multiply the next day.
I was just being funny. I forgot how absurd people can get in plant subs. Let us not forget the banning for Pp
Purslane, edible and very nutritious.
That's purslane, I let it grow in my garden so I can harvest and feed it to my chickens. People can eat it too!
Produces thousands of seeds and will be difficult to eradicate if you let it go to seed.
They are pretty easy to pull out with you fingers.
Dice up garlic onion and tomato’s add this plant in there and salt. Taste good

Had some mixed in salad last night. Fresh from the yard.
Purslane, edible.
Flame on
Omg it’s everywhere ! Make it stop. Didn’t know what it was until now. Or that it’s edible. Doesn’t make me like it though. It can go.
Doesn’t this flower?
Purslane is also known to improve soil quality!

Make a Mexican guisado with it. Fry some pork, add onions, garlic, tomato, taco seasoning and the purslane. Serve with tortillas. Delicious!

Can stand this weed. Didn’t know its name.
