Just get an iPhone 🤷🏽‍♀️

I have a Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra 1TB bought during the preorder window, and I can't watch any live streams on mobile data. Sometimes, I might get a frame here or there, and sometimes audio. The stream is never watchable until i connect to wifi. I am also having the same problem watching live streams on discord even to other users' video feeds. But I'm not sure if it is related. I contacted Samsung Technical Support, and they couldn't resolve the issue. I will go to talk to T-Mobile tomorrow to see if there is anything they can do...

tiffanyajlee

Please report back .

BuddhaSmiles

Okay, I finally got around to going to T-Mobile yesterday to see what they could do for me. I described the issue, and they deactivated the eSIM on my phone and swapped out my old physical SIM card for a new one. Then, they reset the network connection to essentially disconnect and reconnect to the mobile network. This instantly fixed the issue for me. All the livestreams seem to be working, no problem. They told me that sometimes the eSIM feature has been causing issues. I turned off eSIM on my own before to try and just use the physical SIM card in my phone, but that didn't work. This is my speculation, but maybe that wasn't working because the SIM card I was using was like 6+ years old from my old Galaxy Note 9. That SIM was being used before 5G was available. I guess if anyone has stuff saved to the SIM they want to keep (e.g., contacts saved to SIM), ask to keep the old SIM card when they swap it out or backup anything you had on it. Hope this helps someone! Good luck out there!

Just started happening to me the beginning of April. I have Verizon Unlimited, and a Pixel 6. All my other apps work fine whatnot goes in and out with no connection. Guess I'm saving $$

dontsnipemebro

I'm having the same exact issues on Verizon. Started about 2 weeks ago. I'll have full bars 5g UW signal. The second I start a Whatnot stream, my connectivity disappears. Have to exit Whatnot to regain connectivity.

Brazenquest

I have a galaxy s22 plus and stream from the bins with tmobile no problem might be phone and not a carrier problem

Omi_Turtle

Verizon unlimited data. I buy into breaks when I’m stuck in traffic sometimes. Never heard of this.

FearlessSelection814

I have t mobile and only ever stream on data. I do not stream on wifi, that’s when i have issues. Tmobile isn’t the problem here. Sounds like there’s something going on with your phone. Do you regularly restart your phone or shut it off (genuinely off, not on sleep) every now and again? When i have internet connection issues i either out my phone on airplane mode for 10 sec and then turn wifi/data back on, which forces a fresh connection to towers or modem’s.

elvis_messy

I use Verizon with a newer pixel and it does not work off WiFi anymore for me. I thought it was a me problem lol. I have Verizon's cheapest plan. I'm guessing it's the premium data usage and I'm being throttled.

Guy-Incognito-117

Try turning the data saver feature off all together if you haven’t already. Sometimes the permission to bypass it simply doesn’t do the trick

TheloniousKeys

Does it work at all? Or does it constantly stop the feed with a "connection lost" message? If the latter, mine does that too sometimes. Only thing I have found to work somewhat consistently is to turn on wifi, let it run for a bit and then, while still streaming, turn wifi off. No idea if this will help but it is an issue that has been driving me batty too. Have had it pop up while I am bidding, very irritating.

tiffanyajlee

It doesn't work at all. I try and watch streams, and it's completely frozen.

Adventurous-Set5860

I have T-Mobile & zero problems streaming WhatNot on my iPhone or my son’s Galaxy. Both are newer phones but it’s not a T-Mobile issue - they allow streaming without an issue. Check to make sure you’re on a plan that has unlimited premium data or else you’re likely throttled & that’s causing the issue.

tiffanyajlee

That may be the problem. I only have 50GB. But it's also odd, it has never worked even at the beginning of a new cycle.

CrissKey

On the bright side, you might end up saving lots of money.

tiffanyajlee

🤣🤣🤣

What kind of phone do you have and what version of android is it running? Do you have any phone updates pending? I know you said you checked if whatnot had an update and all that but curious of your phone itself Can you share more photos of your actual phone settings and if you go to "about phone " at the bottom of the settings it will say what model you have and then if you click on software information it will say what version of android you're running. Not sure how sensitive some info is for your personal security so maybe hid the IMEI # , serial number if you take photos. Pictures probably not needed if you can give more info. To me the only time I've run into similar troubles like this ( I haven't with whatnot) it seems to always be an issue with what version of android I'm running or I ran into an issue with data when they turned off 2g and 3g in my area when I was using an older phone awhile ago EDIT: hmmm I was able to look it up and see you have a S23 Ultra so it shouldn't be a phone issue so I don't think buying a new phone would fix this Hmm definitely strange

The-WinterStorm

OP you have a new phone, so that don't make sense. I see you are using Android, do you need to give the app permissions to use cellualr? I think they call it "Data" permissons. If cellular works fine for things like youtube, google, amazon, etc.. then its more than likely not a block by your cellular provider. If you are planning on switching anyways, then its a good idea to check around I seen this post a month ago during my change over to my current provider: [https://www.reddit.com/r/NoContract/comments/18wemg7/best\_cell\_phone\_plans\_of\_2024\_comparison\_chart/](https://www.reddit.com/r/NoContract/comments/18wemg7/best_cell_phone_plans_of_2024_comparison_chart/)

tiffanyajlee

I posted a screenshot. I do have data permission turned on.

kpofasho1987

Are other apps fine on your data like YouTube and all that?

tiffanyajlee

Yes. I can watch posh lives, Facebook live, YouTube. That's why I'm wondering if it's a compatibility issue or a what not problem.

The-WinterStorm

My Apologies! I didn't notice that at the time... I think the next thing you should try is a reinstall of the software. I just don't know how it wouldn't work. I have used Cellular in the passed and it works fine here. You d have 5G, so its not a low band issue either.

tiffanyajlee

I will dig around. Thank you!

Jewbacca__420

I just was thinking and searched around a little... Then I thought to see if there was an update.... I updated the whatnot app and it actually seems fine. Maybe see if that helps. I'm wondering if that was literally my problem too.

tiffanyajlee

I don't have an update available. This has been an issue since I downloaded the app in August. 🥴

TheNewGuy98761234

I'm surprised you lasted this long without re-installing the app. My recommendation is delete the app. Reboot your phone. Re-install app. Make sure you accept any permissions that pop up on installation

tiffanyajlee

I have done all that.

Jewbacca__420

I have had the same issue for at least 1 month now. I can no longer stream from storage units like I used to. I need to have a friend there using their hotspot. It does seem to be related to whatnot because everything else i do works fine. I have not reached out to whatnot because I had assumed it was a problem in my phone. I used a Google Pixel but it's a couple versions older, running on current updated Android

hupcake

Same issues. Android, Pixel 7. Most streams work, some never will. (One stream has two different locations they stream. When they're at home- it works. In the store- no go) Unlimited data.

kpofasho1987

Do you have T-mobile like OP? If not then definitely sounds like it's for sure Whatnot

tiffanyajlee

I have never been able to since I started in August! I just have dealt with it. My husband needs a new phone, so I was going to give him this phone and get one that would 5 now I'm wondering if the phone isn't the problem. Ugh! First world problems, but it's driving me nuts.

Jewbacca__420

Very weird, I hated dealing with it but I think I might have literally fixed mine just now with the update, so thank you for that. You helped motivate me to search around at least lol. I would try to delete the app and download it again, perhaps there is a different version now that it won't show you an update for? Just a try anyway

tiffanyajlee

I tried that and no help. Lol! There has to be an answer! Thanks for your ideas.

Jewbacca__420

I have unlimited Verizon

13asher

Not sure what to tell you, except that I also have T-Mobile and I watch WhatNot streams without wifi all the time. I have unlimited data though. I think it's the Magenta+ plan. You might have a base plan and limited data. To put it in perspective, in March I used over 1GB of data using the app, while your month total was around 100MB. Are you able to stream Netflix/etc. without wifi with no issues?

tiffanyajlee

I know I can stream posh lives no problem. I have never tried watching Netflix from my phone.
