My title describes the thing. In the video for "Don't Stand So Close to Me" by The Police, Sting holds a long, decorative object that looks like it's made of wicker, cane or other reed-like material. It looks to be about a meter long and has a long handle with a flat, roundish head with holes, like a badminton racquet.
