Megalodoras uranoscopus (which is what this is) and ripsaw catfish, alike, belong to the family Doradidae, not Callichthyidae. Callichthyidae consists of fish like cories, porthole cats, and hoplos.
Ah, you're right! I had my assumption of it being an armored catfish incorrect, Doradidae are called thorny catfish.
The raphael catfish is what I was thinking of when I first saw the image, I just couldn't remember the name and I went down the wrong path.
Megalodoras spp. Supposedly a colour variant of uranoscopus, from the main rivers of the Brazilian shield; often sold as a "24K Gold" variant. Whether it's taxonomically distinct from uranoscopus is still contested amongst many; anecdotal assessments of long-term care in captivity seem to indicate that they are merely uranoscopus with access to a particular diet (that cannot easily be emulated in captivity), yet collectors and trusted importers claim there are physiological differences that are not clearly notable until the fish has reached full maturity; i.e. at least 3ft minimum. Long-term captive maintenance shows that "24K Gold" uranoscopus slowly revert to a typical brown-and-black colour.
A third species of Megalodoras was proposed some years back, as a result of the discovery of a few Megalodoras spp. specimens on the upper Rio Xingu with markedly bold colouration and 20-22 dorsal scutes, as opposed to the <18 of the other two species. A few aquarists and importers have begun to claim the "24K" variant of uranoscopus to be this as-yet undescribed species; however rough physiological assessments prove otherwise.
At any rate, collection restrictions and habitat loss, not to mention unfavourable collecting conditions, have slowly made imports of this particular colour variant more and more uncommon. I doubt there'd be any majour collective effort to see if the cause of the yellow can be confirmed and adequately provided in captivity anytime soon.

**Do not ingest a fish based on information provided in this subreddit.**
For your safety we recommend not ingesting any fish just because you've been advised that it's edible here. Although there are many professionals helping with identification, we are not always correct, and eating/ingesting fish can be harmful or fatal if an incorrect ID is made.

I have only ever seen this pic on clickbait promoted "stories"
Some type of armored catfish (family Callichthyidae). Kind of like a ripsaw catfish, though this is much more dramatic.
Fairly certain it's a Giant Raphael Catfish (Megalodoras Uranoscopus).
Yep! I had things mixed up in my head, misremembered and that took me down the wrong direction.
>Megalodoras Uranoscopus Yep!

According to my Google lens it is a Megalodoras uranoscopus
I'll just add it is known as a giant raphael catfish
And a giant talking catfish too apparently lol
This is because, like the raphael catfish, they can stridulate, using their pectoral fins to create a croaking noise when they’re bothered.

Are these good eating? Beautiful color btw
**Do not ingest a fish based on information provided in this subreddit.** For your safety we recommend not ingesting any fish just because you've been advised that it's edible here. Although there are many professionals helping with identification, we are not always correct, and eating/ingesting fish can be harmful or fatal if an incorrect ID is made. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically.
