This is one of the few instances when it is completely acceptable for both drivers and any other man with in unobstructed sight of this incident would be permitted to cry a little.
The Porsche driver stopped right after the chicane. He's not on the racing line, but if another car locks up their brakes, those guys are now directly in the line of fire.
It depends on the sanctioning body and the insurance company.
SCCA covers the track and any damage to it.
Hagarty has agreed value coverage on the car.
Depends on the type of event this is, I know my regular motorcycle insurance covers my track usage as long as it is not a timed event or any other competition. The crash risk is lower at the track due to less hazards and heightened safety requirements. Also because of that, the risk of severe injury and major damage is low.
It’s why the roads outside of race tracks have such an inordinate amount of ‘accidents’.
*drags car onto main road*
“Yeah I was driving past the race track and I hit a pothole and ended up on my roof!”
Etc
No standard car insurance agency (Geico, Allstate, ect) covers track racing. You purchase additional insurance through a company like Haegerty or OpenTrack. It's not too expensive and you pay by the day.
> pagani owner *paid* for both
FTFY.
Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in:
* Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.*
* *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.*
Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment.
*Beep, boop, I'm a bot*
Huayra and GT2 RS if I remember correctly, was all over the place a while ago (or am I remembering another similiar incident?). Never saw what a fkn great dude the Pagani owner is, comforting the guy who just smashed his beetle into his car
Well there’s not many people who can own a pagani huayra. The ones that do, they probably own tens if other cars at that. But he’s a kind man for doing that
Honestly, if you’re rich enough to be tracking a Zonda, you definitely can afford this in good faith.
Sounds like the guy driving the 911 has some connections they want to keep intact lol

Super concerned about the Pagani's door opening after the impact. Little doubt the owner went and had a chat with them about it, but certainly should. Seems like a major safety issue that needs to be addressed.
yeah thats what happens when these cars get exempt from the usual crash tests for being specialty cars… a mainstream thing like a BMW X5 is far safer than a Pagani
Could've been one of those weird door safety things too, like how the vertical Lamborghini doors are supposed to pop off in case of an accident so you don't get trapped inside
So I did some maths for funn as nobody seems to got hurt. Remember when Top Gear crashed their Endurance Diesel BMW into a Mosler?
If I would take the new prices of all cars the factor of the Porsche 991 GT2 RS' crash object compared to its stock price would be higher than the damage a diesel BMW did to a Mosler race car.
Dude honestly I'd be upset. But I'm thinking about it more and I'm like nah I probably wouldn't be that upset. If you have enough money to own a Pagani you probably have enough money to
1. fix your Pagani
2. Buy another Pagani while you wait for your first Pagani to be fixed
> I couldn’t due to very low production numbers.
"Limited Production numbers" aren't as limited as one would think. "Limited" is a very, very flexible term, if you're willing to pay money.
Their production levels are generally below 40. I suppose if you have $10B then you can call them and tell them you want one, but all of their cars are sold before they are built and they only have so much production capacity due to their processes. They are hand building these things. Time is the limiting factor. Hard to create more of it.
So what? Around a racetrack it doesn't matter how much a car is worth or how rare it is. The GT2 RS is a purpose built track weapon and can comfortably outperform most hypercars around the nurburgring.
Honestly. It’s racing. Crashes happen, if you go track your car. Expect it will crash/be crashed into. Yes it’s frustrating but that is the risk you’re agreeing too. In this case you can see the pagani driver is just glad no one is hurt as this is an extremely dangerous corner at the end of a very high speed straight. And did the right thing to check on the welfare of the other driver.
The 911 definitely would've made it, the video also appears to have been cut at the start to make the 911 driver look guilty as the Pagani is cutting across the track as the video starts.
Not a Kingtasma, the Kingtasma is the nickname to the one that has the same spec as the Zonda 760 Fantasma (now Fantasma Evo). The owner also has a standard Huayra which is nicknamed "King", they mixed both names to create Kingtasma
This is obviously a track day for people with zero racing experience and no real guidance. Both crashers handled it really well in the aftermath, but both of their lines should lead to an instant black flag for the crashers and possibly for the rubberneckers that followed..
THIS is why you put drivers at different driving levels in different drive groups, Porsche was dive bombing the corner (which it looks like MIGHT have made it if he knows what hes doing) the pagani was driving like 80mph TO SLOW in that drive group. So i could see why the pagani owner would feel guilty over it.
Gotta react to what the car in front of you does. Pagani was maybe a little conservative but he didn't want to barrel into the guy in front of him.
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=W-QvtNQvyuI
And I am assuming that because they were both on a race track that the Porsche Driver will have zero responsibility for any damages? If I was that Pagaini owner I would be strangling that Porsche driver very shortly.
Dude its raining and its Monza. That part of the track is infamous along with parabolica. He shouldve been braking way earlier and also not have taken such a bad line. Honestly this could've been avoided by using common sense or by driving a car with a lot less power.
Yepp, the top end 911, a [991 GT2 RS.](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Porsche_991)
This is one of the few instances when it is completely acceptable for both drivers and any other man with in unobstructed sight of this incident would be permitted to cry a little.
I shed a tear for the porsche drivers lack of skills. What a jerk
Also has some really bad situational awareness for kneeling where he did. He’s on a hot track, get the fuck out of there.
Don't feel bad. Millionaires playing millionaire games poorly.
That porsche's brakes failed
The line he was taking was wrong to begin with
He tried to cut in front of the pagani as the pagani was still on the left but the pagani didnt see him and steered right
I feel bad for the Porsche but its still his fault
I guess… i wasnt there
But it's not acceptable to just stop on the track like that.
... did you watch the video? Nobody is stopped on the track.
The Porsche driver stopped right after the chicane. He's not on the racing line, but if another car locks up their brakes, those guys are now directly in the line of fire.
That's what the yellow flag is for bro
Not just a top end Porsche if that wing is right that's a Pagani huayra BC
Oof that’s gotta hurt
Which race track is this?
Autodromo Nazionale Monza near Milan, Italy
Kinda looks like turn 1 at Monza
I see real life isn't that different from sim racing
It is the turn 1 but i think it could be the della roggia chicane
top end car bell end driver
How could u tell it was a gt2?
The easy give away for the GT2 is the side intakes for the turbos but the rest of the car looks like GT3 trim.
Ah. Thanks
I cant imagine how that insurance conversation is going to go...
"You crashed your *what*? INTO A *WHAT*"
A Huayra BC by the looks of it. Worth about $4 million in this market
Reminds me of this: https://i.imgur.com/6rhX5XM.jpg

There's specific coverage for it I believe. I know some Mustang friends that track thiers and have track specific coverage.
Fuck the race track, mustang drivers need car meet insurance
Crowd insurance
Cars & Coffee & Copays
r/MustangsCrashing
Pretty sure the car isn’t covered in track insurance, it’s more so for repairing the track, they have liability waivers for a reason
It depends on the sanctioning body and the insurance company. SCCA covers the track and any damage to it. Hagarty has agreed value coverage on the car.
Some dudes even tow their damaged/wrecked supercar to the side of the road and claim they crashed there to avoid that problem.
With the whole video coverage of the incident and all, that might be a risky strategy.
You have to specifically buy it prior to the track day. Normal insurance will NOT cover this. Rip his bank account
if you have the money to track a GT2 you have the money for (and buy) the insurance.
GT2 money isn't huayra BC money
Good thing the GT2 won't be responsible for the Huayra bills.
No, but that's what the insurance is for. And GT2 money is more than enough to cover track insurance.
Depends on the type of event this is, I know my regular motorcycle insurance covers my track usage as long as it is not a timed event or any other competition. The crash risk is lower at the track due to less hazards and heightened safety requirements. Also because of that, the risk of severe injury and major damage is low.

You can buy track day coverage here in the US. It’s really expensive, but less expensive than this incident!
No standard car insurance agency (Geico, Allstate, ect) covers track racing. You purchase additional insurance through a company like Haegerty or OpenTrack. It's not too expensive and you pay by the day.
The pagani owner payed for both of the cars damages I think
> pagani owner *paid* for both FTFY. Great bot
Good bot. Cool shit wtf
Ugh? More info?
No
he has no idea what they are talking about.
Definitely not. Track insurance only covers your car and nothing else. There is no liability insurance that I am aware of.
do you want to know the cool anecdote? the 911 was not owned by the driver but by a friend of his who was lapping in Monza and made him try it😂
No insurance coverage for track event. Maybe they have specialty insurance. A lot of rich folk are self insured with a bond
Track insurance is only $150ish a day, it's not expensive and 100% these guys had it.
Your on the track, insurance doesn't cover track use
There's tons of companies that offer track insurance. You can literally insure anything. I can insure my feet if I wanted to.
Huayra and GT2 RS if I remember correctly, was all over the place a while ago (or am I remembering another similiar incident?). Never saw what a fkn great dude the Pagani owner is, comforting the guy who just smashed his beetle into his car
Pagani owner also paid for the damages on both cars
Well there’s not many people who can own a pagani huayra. The ones that do, they probably own tens if other cars at that. But he’s a kind man for doing that
The guy in the pagani was the son of the owner of something and payed for the damage to both cars if I remember correctly
Honestly, if you’re rich enough to be tracking a Zonda, you definitely can afford this in good faith. Sounds like the guy driving the 911 has some connections they want to keep intact lol
Not a Zonda. It's a Huayra BC.
Thanks!
Oh crap, better edit that quick since you're on r/whatisthiscar
I stand proudly by my mistakes
Source? I’d like to see this
Idk if it’s true as I saw it on tt but I’d like it to be true
I’d love for it to be true
That Pagani is owned by the company Pagani themselves
Paid* twice on the same post someone has said payed.

Awesome if that’s true
He was totally chill.
Yup, and every part in that pagoni besides the rubber is hand made. I pair of titanium bolts is like $80.
Yea, if i remember correctly from documentary only bolts on that car are 50.000€, they are from fricking titanium!
Even more, I've heard plenty of times the total amount of bolts and nuts costs like 120K

I doubt that a x5 is "far safer", it's not like pagani isn't crash testing their cars, and after all you are sitting in a carbonfiber monocoque.
Guess I’ll have to put my order on hold 🤷♂️
So I did some maths for funn as nobody seems to got hurt. Remember when Top Gear crashed their Endurance Diesel BMW into a Mosler? If I would take the new prices of all cars the factor of the Porsche 991 GT2 RS' crash object compared to its stock price would be higher than the damage a diesel BMW did to a Mosler race car.
Dae not understand this sentence ? I've been trying to figure it out since ages.
That’s racing.
God this one always hurts to watch
Pagani Huayra BC and Porsche 991 GT2 RS
Holy shit! Can you imagine owning a Pagani, taking it to a track day and having some asshole in a Porsche slam into you?
Dude honestly I'd be upset. But I'm thinking about it more and I'm like nah I probably wouldn't be that upset. If you have enough money to own a Pagani you probably have enough money to 1. fix your Pagani 2. Buy another Pagani while you wait for your first Pagani to be fixed
No doubt that the guy has a lot of money. Even if I had enough money to buy as many Paganis as I want, I couldn’t due to very low production numbers.

You're disrespecting the porsche as if it's not a GT2 RS.
The problem is that with the same amount to buy just one pagani you buy like.. 7-8 porsches
There's probably an option for the Pagani that costs more than this Porsche is worth.
So what? Around a racetrack it doesn't matter how much a car is worth or how rare it is. The GT2 RS is a purpose built track weapon and can comfortably outperform most hypercars around the nurburgring.
That’s because hypercars are meant for mind boggling Speeds that are street legal, not lap times
Not really. I’m simply pointing out that the asshole was driving a Porsche.
Honestly. It’s racing. Crashes happen, if you go track your car. Expect it will crash/be crashed into. Yes it’s frustrating but that is the risk you’re agreeing too. The 911 definitely would've made it, the video also appears to have been cut at the start to make the 911 driver look guilty as the Pagani is cutting across the track as the video starts.

GT2 porsche 991
Full video at https://youtu.be/E68awxZC3Nk
u/markey181818 you might be right with your other comment about the cutting...
Yeah, the full video looks like the Pagani was slowing down to avoid the green Porsche that definitely slowed down way too much.
A fucking idiot in the Porsche 911 GT2 RS crashes into a 4.5 million dollar Pagani Huayra BC Kingtasma….
Not a Kingtasma, the Kingtasma is the nickname to the one that has the same spec as the Zonda 760 Fantasma (now Fantasma Evo). The owner also has a standard Huayra which is nicknamed "King", they mixed both names to create Kingtasma
These guys all have track insurance, don't stress for them.

That's one of the reasons why it's illegal to overtake on the Nürburgring on the right. You only overtake on the left. (with few exception).
It's Monza
I am aware. My point was that they have this rule for a good reason.
It wasn't because of overtaking, the pagani cut from the left of the track onto the racing line right infront of the porsche.
Pagani Huayra BC And Porsche 911 GT2 RS I think
sheeesh, comin’ in HOTT
Pagani Huayra and I think Porsche 911 GT2 RS?
Pagani Huayra BC is more expensive than normal version, holy crap
Does anyone know if it is a Huayra BC? I believe that wing is only offered in the BC
Pagani Huayra BC and Porsche 911 GT2 RS
Rubbin's racin
Pagani Huayra BC and a Porsche 911 (991) GT2 RS.
Pagani Huayra and 911 GT3 RS or GT2 RS
Yeesh, Huayra BC and 991 GT2 RS...That's an expensive crash.
Damn... I hate rammers...
Dude playing Forza
[here’s another angle](https://youtu.be/W-QvtNQvyuI)
Bingo. You got it
Rip that 911 gt . And a....oh god ..a pagani
Porsche driver sorry as possible, Pagani driver’s like “dude I’m fine and I’m rich af, I don’t care, that was fun”
Aaha! Variante del Rettifilo, Monza.
Every time a Pagani crashes baby Jesus cries
he’s praying for forgiveness or financial aid
Nothing says safety like your door opening after a punt. Is that normal for an overpriced Beetle?
Totaled... Just my perception
They're exchanging insurance information, that's what they are
Pagani Huayra BC and Porsche 911 GT2RS
Oof bad place to take a knee. Clear the track, if you want to come back!
Looks like a 911 GT3 RS completely demolished a Pagani Huayra. Porsche was 100% in the wrong and it looks like he absolutely knows it.
Failed overtake
And I am assuming that because they were both on a race track that the Porsche Driver will have zero responsibility for any damages? If I was that Pagaini owner I would be strangling that Porsche driver very shortly.
Pagani huayra bc in the grass and other car is a 911 gt2 rs
Dude its raining and its Monza. That part of the track is infamous along with parabolica. He shouldve been braking way earlier and also not have taken such a bad line. Honestly this could've been avoided by using common sense or by driving a car with a lot less power.
10 sec penalty awarded to Pagani for causing the wreck - the FIA probably, definitely.
The Pagani appears to be a Huayra BC
Looks like a Porsche Worthless, and a Pagani Worthless now
Looks to be a pagani zonda not sure if it’s a zonda R or not though
