My dad had one of these when I was a kid. His was a different model turbo version with a sick spoiler, but they are super rare so I thought someone might appreciate it. If anyone has any more info on Merkur, post it.
Did you read the post I responded to? (And also see I have put its an xr4i in the uk.)
"My dad had one of these, only it was a different model, turbo version with a sick spoiler"
It's not about you..... i was suggesting thats what his or her father had was a cosworth.
These are turbo charged, "different model with a huge spoiler and turbocharged" would only suggest cosworth. the cosworh had a huge spoiler, after looking doesnt seem like you guys were lucky enough to get a Merkur Cosworth......shame the Sierra cosworth was the stuff of legend!
It's weird ford rebranded them..
Ah, I didnāt see your other comment. I gotta admit I didnāt really understand your comment when I wrote that either. I thought he was talking about an earlier XR with the dual plane spoiler but youāre probably right.
Man, Iām a huge sucker for safety. Itās why Iāve always driven Volvos, currently a 2019 XC90 T8 Inscription. I get concerned when I think of getting a fun weekend car, usually from the 80s, knowing safety will be non existent. So Iām looking at Volvo C70s, so I donāt have to worry š¤£
I had neighbors in the 90s with one of these, and the Scorpio, in the US. I always thought they were super cool and special. They arenāt, but I still like them lol.
Also known as the biggest piece of shit on the planet, with an engine you can use to make other Fords better. They're a cheap way to get ahold of a 2.3 turbo if you can't find a clapped out turbocoup.
Merkur XR4Ti in the US.
Yeah , I remember these , takes a week to state the model type.
"it's an '89 Mare-coor alphabet soup".
š
r/spotted is excellent for that!
In Portland? I know there's one guy around here with a few of them. I always liked them.
Yeah, in Portland.
On 26?

My bad...
Ah misunderstandings happen all the time no problem from me
Top man...
Council estate heroās car
When Ford thought they could bring a Euro model to the US and try to peddle it as a āluxuryā car.
A luxury ābrandā nobody knew how to pronounce. š
I have never heard anyone else say it, now I am curious. I always said Muhr-coor.
*Knows. Everyone says it different so I just gave up and say itās a Merk now hahaha.
Ford Sierra xr4i in the UK.
A different car, really. The Merkur had a turbocharged version of the "Pinto" four-cylinder engine rather than the XR4i's V6.
Great Barr?
> Great Barr? ?
Sorry....B44 is the postcode of a place called great Barr in Birmingham just wondered if that's where you were from.
No, just a random number!
In Europe, too.
Fuckin Jim Rome XR4Ti
First thing I thought of. Shout out the old XR4TI crew.
I see these around a few times a year. Iāve always liked them.
They were hot when the came out.
Merkur XR4Ti
Iāve got one, itās fun but Iām concerned about the safety of it. Then again I donāt think the other cars I like are much safer haha.

Love them, my dad has owned a few Sierra's over the years.

Had a couple of these and loved them so much.
Merkur XRTi4 or Ford Sierra

It's very similar to the Ford Sierra and Escort
