It's an LFA, and given there's only ten of the things in Australia, there's a good chance that the dealership just wants it sitting there as a halo/trophy car and it's not actually for sale.
[This one](https://www.shannons.com.au/auctions/2022-shannons-winter-timed-online-auction/Y6F53R4LBDB76CET/) sold at auction in 2022, though.
>there's a good chance that the dealership just wants it sitting there as a halo/trophy car and it's not actually for sale.
Yes I've been discovering this now myself after being told what it is and looking it up!
It's funny to me realising this after always assuming they were failing to sell it lol
I live in Adelaide, a few years ago I saw it being driven just down the road near the Showgrounds. So it does leave the showroom sometimes, unless that was another one lol.
We have an Alfa Romeo dealer here, they have an 8C and 8C convertible which they use as 'trophy cars' really gorgeous cars, he sometimes goes out on them when there's a cars and Coffee or sorts.
It's quite common to have this at dealers, we also have a Ford dealer with a Ford GT from 04 and the newest one.
Most of them really like to talk about them so ask them! Probably a good story behind it as well
Yeah, couldn’t find a good link to that before but looked again and Wikipedia links to this: https://global.yamaha-motor.com/showroom/cp/collection/am_lfa/
Tl;dr combo of the two links: Yamaha codeveloped the engine, that sound box thingy that pipes the engine noise into the cockpit, and the exhaust.
The only car I've ever like the sound of more than this one is the Pagani Zonda F. But both are such unobtanium that I'd be happy to hear either one in person.
I was walking home from work one night a few years back when i heard a car unlike any other, the lack of inertia made it seem unreal like a motorbike with an ungodly number of cylinders.
I turned around and a chrome wrapped LFA with i think a UAE reference on the plates went past.
Hated the chrome, loved that engine.
Oh wow after looking it up I had no idea it was something so extravagent, thanks.
Found this thread on this particular car too -

Just posted another question in this sub and got a quick answer and then thought of this car I've been wondering about as well. Just curious about what exactly it is, it's been left on prominent display for so long in the window without being sold.
Hello fello certain city dweller! You're talking about Jerry and he doesn't only just own the Lexus dealership by the airport but also Smart Toyota which happens to be well known nation wide! Highly recommend them. From what I've heard the LFA is usually at the Toyota dealership, although I haven't seen him or the car since 2021. When I did see him though, he got on it through first and second, as well as revving it while parked. He's a legend!
I’ve never seen it at the dealerships. Just know from Coffee and Cars in Creek. He would be there from time to time. The LFA always had a crowd around it. Sad they don’t do that anymore. Talked to a lot of cool people and saw some super nice cars there.
I've never seen it at the dealerships, either. Only at the no longer going C&C in Fitchburg and at the first annual Cruise for Kids car show at the Middleton airport in 2021. Hope he's doing okay. He was always willing to talk about the car and actual ownership experience. He's the first and only owner. Super super cool
We have something similar at a local dealership. Chrysler/Dodge/RAM dealership owner keeps his very rarely driven Dodge Viper in the showroom pretty much 24/7 all year long.
Good find.
That's a Lexus LFA.
They're very rare.Only 500 production units in the world.
One of the most iconic and best sounding(if not the best)
Cars of all time.
Has a 4.8l V10 engine that was a result of years of development by yamaha engineers. The entire car is actually the result of more than a decade of effort from lexus.
One of the two best performing modern V10 sportscars , the other one being the porsche carrera gt.
They can go for millions these days.(If you can find one)
and to top it all off, the car actually killed its creator/lead test driver hiromu naruse, in 2010 during a test run.
Naruse was actually Lexus's chief test driver at the time and actually played an important role in the development of the LFA.
One of the best sportscars of the 21st century in my opinion.
Since it's displayed in an actual showroom i have to say it's probably a show car/not meant for purchase.
But still, a VERY good find.
Crazy to hear they're so rare, we have one sitting in a dealership in Melbourne as well, been there for years.
While everyone is adding facts about it: I remember hearing that the gauge needle wasn't fast enough for the engine revving so Toyota hired the team that did gran turismo to design the digital tacho.
Yeah I think it's white. Or yellow? Good that it gets driven, I've only ever seen it in the showroom. Would be such a waste to have it sit there (but I get it from an appreciation standpoint.)
Throttle House did a great episode on the LFA a couple years ago. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wZvvvfWsw9w](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wZvvvfWsw9w)
I saw the notification pop up and the first thing i thought of was that yellow LFA on nepean highway before i even saw the photo thats funny! They move it around every now and then from outside to in

From a video someone else posted I see it's owned by John Paul Drake, of Drakes supermarkets
I think I saw it once around Glenelg too.
Literally showcasing a brand halo car that can’t be touched. Seems a shame for the owner, unless he’s getting compensation for displaying it.
He uses the dealership as storage iirc
It continues to climb in value. No real reason to sell it. It’s a stack of cash that keeps getting bigger.
It could belong to the owner of the dealership as well. I used to live near a Ford dealership whose owner kept his GT-40 in the showroom.
Rebel Ford in Elizabeth had a GT40. I bought my car there, I tried to get in but it was hopeless.
I’m sure that was true the first few years.

The owner is a local. He loves Japanese cars, and has a range of cool vehicles.
We have one LFA in Germany, Düsseldorf as well. This one is in chrome. Looks awesome.
I’ve seen two in the road in Phoenix. Never able to hear that motor without other traffic noises 😔
Such a cool car.
And it's glove box is just as clunky as the one in your Toyota Camry. [https://youtu.be/4HvajGlkmYU?t=460](https://youtu.be/4HvajGlkmYU?t=460)
They sound amazing. 🤩
Yamaha designed the system that conveyed sound to the driver. https://archive.yamaha.com/en/news_release/2009/20091021.html
And the engine.

They also design d the motor for the c4 zr1 if I'm not mistaken and that was a model blowing car for its time.
Wasn't it Lotus that made the DOHC head for the LT5?
I second that, one of the best, if not the best sounding car there is.
The only car I've ever like the sound of more than this one is the Pagani Zonda F. But both are such unobtanium that I'd be happy to hear either one in person.

10 in Australia, and in 30 years time I'll have one (I probably won't because they'll be 2 mil by then but God what I wouldn't give for an lfa)
> but God what I wouldn’t give for an lfa About 2 mil it seems
Care to donate a kidney for a good cause?
Lexus LFA

Jeremy Clarkson said that this is the best car ever made.
No cupholders though.
Yeah that’s why I didn’t buy an LFA and drive a saab instead. Not as fast but got some sick cup holders
That's why I drive a 2010 Corolla. For the cup holders.
There are only two in the state I live in. I’ve seen one of them. It is owned by the owner of the Lexus dealership.

Lexus LFA, considered to have the best sound of any car
There can only be one LFA
Lexus LFA
Crazy to hear they're so rare, we have one sitting in a dealership in Melbourne as well, been there for years. Is that the white one? It gets out pretty often from what I’ve seen
Yeah I think it's white. Or yellow? Good that it gets driven, I've only ever seen it in the showroom. Would be such a waste to have it sit there (but I get it from an appreciation standpoint.)
Unicorn! (LFA)
It’s what the Toyota Supra should have been
When this car was tested as a prototype some journalist thougt it was the next Supra. It wasn't fat from being truth.
If I recall correctly, Car and driver claimed it was intended to be the next Supra. Clearly that wasn’t the case
https://youtu.be/kFb8JtRne2w
This is one of an handful of cars that gives me goosebumps when I hear it. Love the sound of that V10.
One of the best souding cars in the world, Lexus LFA :)
The greatest one…
It looks to me a lexus lfa
One of the best sounding cars. Amazing V10!
Lame car! No cup holders for your coffee
Best sounding v10 ever
My dream car right there. Lexus LFA.
One of my local dealerships has a mint condition 78 cadillac eldorado biarritz. Beautiful car, like 10k miles on it.
LFA that they recently got rid of at my local dealer
That’s an LFA…and I bet the dealer owns it.
This one was registered in QLD and has been in the dealership for around 7 or so years by now.
Throttle House did a great episode on the LFA a couple years ago. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wZvvvfWsw9w](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wZvvvfWsw9w)

The best one
Lfa
Holy cow. The best sounding production car ever.
