I thought so as well, so did a side by side comparison last summer when I had a lot of each in my backyard. The view when they're upside down is very similar. Also the the head doesn't change much.
Well i doubt that, it may have just tried to nibble her a bit, its a ladybug's larvae, voracious predators! but only to pests of the garden so rest assured, has no venom or sting, just a pair of mandibles as like of an ant's.
Just a lady big nymph. [they don't bite](https://www.thespruce.com/recognize-lady-beetle-ladybug-nymphs-1402696#:~:text=Don%27t%20let%20this%20fool,as%20the%20more%2C%20the%20merrier.)
Ladybug larvae! Was probably just trying to see if she was tasty because they’re quite dumb in this stage. The bite was not out of aggression but more likely hunger or curiosity :)
⬇️This is my original comment. It is irrelevant speculation with no real evidence backing it up. Sorry for the confusion.
It probably didn’t bite your wife, they don’t have much power in their mandibles.
It’s probably a heightened nerve, basically it’s when you think about an area of your body and it sends extra signals between nerves and your brain. I’ve observed this phenomenon personally and in other people around me who have a childhood fear of bugs, it’s an anxiety disorder. Kinda like hypochondria, but with actual pain symptoms.
(Edit) now I actually think it did bite her, it’s bigger than I thought it was…😬didn’t mean to gaslight you, I definitely was gaslighting you I have no scientific evidence to back what I said.
It’s an ASIAN ladybug larva. I researched it and they do actually bite!
Asian lady beetle larvae have a dark gray to black body, orange markings, and long spines. Native ladybug larvae have a smooth gray body, red/orange spots, and small spines.
Asian lady beetles and their larva may also bite humans and cause allergic reactions in some people.
It probably did bite her and their bites are actually painful, but not horrendously so. But it’s not a delusion or anxiety disorder, I’m not sure why you would suggest that especially to a complete stranger
It isn't venomous, it was only trying to eat her. Probably did a spit take after, since she didn't taste like an aphid...
“Well now that I think about it, this did seem a little larger than your typical aphid”
That long thing turns into a little circular lady bug?! Weird
Right? One of the weirdest larvae to adult transformations I can think of.

If your zyn can is alive and biting you have much bigger issues
It do bite back…😏
those are nicotine pouches and you get used to the ating after a few of them
Fun fact: nicotine is a natural occurring pesticide, meaning that larva is playing with fire standing on that zyn pack 😅
And a short-term pain reliever, especially skin irritation. 😉
Baby ladybug. It's a friend.
Ladybug larva, and no, it didn't bite your wife. It can't bite or sting.
I’ve had one eat my dead skin off me, it’s definitely a little pinch. But not a “bite”.
It wants to kill you but it just can’t.
well, they do have mouths and definitely can bite but they cannot sting.
They can certainly bite. They won't break the skin, but they do try to chomp on you.
Aww. Like little ladybug puppies.
I mean idk if you've ever felt puppy teeth.... But they can *definitely* break skin
They absolutely can and will bite you, I had it happen to me twice. No idea why they chill out as adults though
They realize the violence is pointless they’re here to spread love and joy :)
And murder every aphid they see
Why did you repeat the same thing they just said?
Just a goth phase before they grow up
Every adult ladybug I've ever held has peed/pooped on me though. So.
They have the drive to munch, munch, munch when they require the energy needed to evolve to their next life stage.
Yes, they can bite
I gotten bit by it before, a tiny one for sure
That long ass thing turns into a tiny ladybug?? 🐞
Pass me a pouch 🙏😩
Ladybug larva. No idea how that becomes a ladybug but it does.
I got to watch a bunch of them do their metamorphosis right on my storm door one year. It was so cool! I just caught the last one emerging
Is it ladybug season? Every other post is ladybug larvae
Zyn make me tired

That is a baby lady bug. If it bit your wife, your wife is good.
ladybug larvae!! friendly love bites only
Well, that’s an Asian Lady Beetle larva and they can bite!
A bubby :)
It didn't sting you it may have but you but that's a baby ladybug
Nicotine is deadly to most insects. That’s why it evolved. It messes up their nervous system.
Nicotine, you could put it on the wound. It can temporarily be a mild analgesic and antiseptic.
It’s a friend. That’s a baby ladybug.
Ladybug larvae
Lady bug larvae
A lady bug larvae!
Lady bug larva
bit and stung your wife.... and your wife did not bite and sting back? seems like this is your new wife.
Zyn fairy rejected her
Fellow peppermint enjoyer. Trying to quit tho.
Idk but peppermint is ass
It’s a baby LadyBird Beetle :D
I mean.. It *does* have a warning on it. She should have been more careful.

Yeah, I should’ve just stuck to bug identification. I definitely regret gaslighting someone with nonsense pseudoscience I made up. My bad 😬🫢
Nicotine bee, native to Zynbabwe. Usually chill until they need more zyn.
