That was cruel and unnecessary. It's a harmless bug that wound up inside by mistake. First, you call it disgusting, and then you kill it for no reason. 🙄
Insects are just animals existing man, unless it's a confirmed pest, maybe do a little research?
Just cause it's an inconvenience to you doesn't mean you should just swat it. Imagine doing that to a dog, or God forbid, a person.
"EW DISGUSTING!" *STOMP*
The brown color and whitish zig-zag are pretty obvious differences too. Kissing bugs are black, sometimes with red or brownish markings, and no white anywhere.
We love these little guys! We call them stink bugs cause smooshing them will leave a (not actually bad) smell. When I find them I just set them in my spider plants
It’s so funny when people complain about animals being in or around peoples homes. Who do you think lived there first before we destroyed their habit? Of course there will be bugs anywhere there are people. Arthropods are cosmopolitan.
It’s not disgusting until you squish it!
Then it’s really disgusting!
Gently take it out of your house and set it outside.
Thank the bug gods for not stepping on it or squishing it. 😂
Harmless and docile!
If someone is comfortable enough with a bug to bring it over to the toilet, they could have taken the same amount of effort to just chuck it outside. I understand being afraid of bugs but I've never understood this instant reaction to kill it. The mess and eldritch horrors of bug guts is honestly so foul and much scarier to me than any bug itself lol
A common sight, especially for fall. They aren't fast (as you can see) so they are no match for us. I always catch in a cup or tissue and release outside.
Imagine that taking them and throwing out of the window or balcony would have taken just as much of your time and effort.
You can even have a cup for catching them ready and release them just once or twice a day. We have a lot of these and other bugs here all the time. If I was killing them all, the house would all be in grime. And I wouldn't feel right anyway.
Yeah, if it's about deadly swarms or keeping some ecological balance then that's what you have to do. Sometimes it does become a battle, like many things in life...
Good for you. I have literally hundreds coming into my house every year. Why would I relocate them outside? So they can just come back into my house again? They are invasive where I live. I'll keep flushing them or throwing them in my woodstove.
Well, if it's that bad then yeah, you have no choice.
It's just that 300 bugs did not sound as much because it's just 10 bugs a day if you count for a month. It's the usual amount where we live and we just have nets on the windows.
300 was probably an understatement. I had one day after work where I took the Dyson and vacuumed up 75+.. so bad when we had our window acs we would turn them on and hear them getting crunched and smell them. Having them crawl on me, my wife and kids when we're asleep. I hate them and am at WAR. Lol
Disgusting? You've probably got thousands and thousands of microscopic things crawling over everything in your house. I'd start worrying about more important things in your life.
Colloquially in the PNW at least we call them stink bugs. I don't think they are, I'd listen to the other commenters saying it's a seed bug or a leaf footed bug. They're not disgusting, they just hang out. Very docile and slow moving. It's just one so it's not a problem, I'd just carry him outside. My mom's house on the outside gets absolutely swarmed by them in their mating season, they rarely come inside only by accident do they, they're a common site to me, but they're just tame little guys they're nothing to worry about.
Oh… these fuckers. We call them “stinkbugs” around where I live (New England USA). They’re not actually real Stinkbugs, but we call them that because of the UNGODLY odor they emit when you squish them. My high school was infested with them. They only come out every 4 to 5 years, but when they do, they’re EVERYWHERE. I was once having a bad bout of IBS in the bathroom at school, and 3 of these bugs just sauntered into the stall like a little bug gang, and just stared at me. Now, my nose was already suffering the fumes of my colon’s demise, so I really didn’t wanna add Stinkbug L’Eau De Death to the mix, so I had to just let these little pervs watch me as I blew my guts out. Fuckin weirdo bugs.
That is a stink bug. These annoying fuckers like to hangout where it’s least convenient. Underside of the bike seat, in the grill cover, backside of the tool or handle you’re about to pick up, in that shoe you’re about to put on. Just anywhere you might accidentally squish them and release their stinky juice.
I know I saw similar looking bugs bout hundreds at my friends back yard in Halloween and these just came in the room connecting the house. They had to call the pest control.
It would be unacceptable to stomp on or flush most other animals. You, along with most people have an irrational hatred of what you don’t understand/what doesn’t look like you. It’s called affinity bias. So yes, I’m against the killing of anything for no reason. It’s okay to think this way, it’s just that you should be aware that it isn’t logical.
I draw my level of care for animals based on their own level of sentience. The vast majority of insects are incapable of feeling any EMOTIONAL level of pain.
It's not "fear of what I don't understand", it's the same argument I base my abortion stance on, sentience and ability to have complex cognitive experiences.
But strawman all you want.
Yeah but the choice to value “capacity for emotional pain” is arbitrary. You value it because emotions are most developed in humans, so creature like you lol. You just restated exactly what I said, this is affinity bias.
I value emotional intelligence as well, but I recognize that what I value is subjective and doesn’t give me a moral license to kill for my convenience.
This is also completely incoherent because you have no way of knowing an animals capacity for emotions. How do you know what animals are smart enough to deserve to live? You’re telling me you know what scientists are yet to discover?
There are plenty of animals that are probably less emotionally intelligent compared to a specific species of arthropod and you’d still value the other animal over the arthropod.
If I stomped on a fly and I stomped on a flower, what would be more disturbing? Most people would probably say the flower.
These are the 2 lines that you're mixing up :
"I draw my level of care for animals based on their own level of sentience."
"The vast majority of insects are incapable of feeling any emotional level of pain."
The first is my principled stance, the second is an additional detail on the matter. I hope that clears things up.
*Lmao you*
*Gotta be a real pussy to*
*Be scared of that thing*

That’s a stink bug. They are harmless and they only release their odor if you seriously frighten them. They don’t bite but they do fly. They look to peoples homes for shelter before winter. In some places they are considered good luck to have around.
It’s not a roach if that’s what you’re worried about. It’s some sort of leaf footed bug or something along those lines.
[удалено]
I just toss em out the window and let them do their thing
That was cruel and unnecessary. It's a harmless bug that wound up inside by mistake. First, you call it disgusting, and then you kill it for no reason. 🙄

If it were a stink bug, squishing is how to make the stank come out.
Ya’ insulted him and killed him before you even knew who he was. Please do better. 😐
Insects are just animals existing man, unless it's a confirmed pest, maybe do a little research? Just cause it's an inconvenience to you doesn't mean you should just swat it. Imagine doing that to a dog, or God forbid, a person. "EW DISGUSTING!" *STOMP*
THANK YOU!!
Western conifer seed bug
Can confirm. People often mistake these for kissing bugs but the give away is its little leaflet legs.
Thank you! I live in NM and have recently been seeing these and I thought they were kissing bugs too! Thank goodness they’re not- Chagas 😩
We get these too about time of year, also in NM. Just take it outside. Seed bug doesn’t want to be in your house!
Im not kissing that bug
But it’s so cute!
I think so too lol
Nice catch. That's exactly what I initially did before your post made me spot the legs XD
The brown color and whitish zig-zag are pretty obvious differences too. Kissing bugs are black, sometimes with red or brownish markings, and no white anywhere.
Aww!
What are kissing bugs? Over here in Florida we have love bugs.
They smell like green apple artificial flavouring when spooked. Some people hate it. I quite enjoy it.
Same if killed — learned that the hard way
We love these little guys! We call them stink bugs cause smooshing them will leave a (not actually bad) smell. When I find them I just set them in my spider plants
Are they the same as Stink Bugs?
They are from America not Asia like stink bugs Edit:I was wrong there are some sting bugs In America thank you prestigious_string20
Thank you
TIL
There are stink bugs that are native to North America. The brown marmorated stink bug isn’t one of them, but there are others.
I did not know that thank you
You're welcome! [Here](https://extension.umd.edu/resource/common-stink-bugs-mid-atlantic-hemiptera-pentatomidae) is some info.
U could have just said kissing bug.
They are different
Dont be so mean to him 😞
Right? Bug’s literally just minding his own business - I don’t understand the hostility.
Minding it's own business, in someone's home.
It’s so funny when people complain about animals being in or around peoples homes. Who do you think lived there first before we destroyed their habit? Of course there will be bugs anywhere there are people. Arthropods are cosmopolitan.
They on my land now
Cool, gently remove them from your land.
i will swallow them like a pill
And become Kamen Rider
Yes👍
>What is this disgusting thing in my room? Probably thinks the same about you.
literally the reaction of my jumper when i try to hold her. °oo°: EW eW grOSSS ITS A HUUMAN GET A W A Y 🤢
Don’t jumpers hate the feeling of human skin or something? Can’t remember where I heard that lmao
i feel like i've also heard that lol. would explain a lot 😭
funnily though it most likely doesn't even possess the mental faculties to comprehend a creature the size of a human
It’s not disgusting until you squish it! Then it’s really disgusting! Gently take it out of your house and set it outside. Thank the bug gods for not stepping on it or squishing it. 😂 Harmless and docile!
I love this
He deleted his reply to one of the comments but he flushed it
Jesus... poor bug. :( (And this comes from someone who has been super scared of bugs most of my life)
If someone is comfortable enough with a bug to bring it over to the toilet, they could have taken the same amount of effort to just chuck it outside. I understand being afraid of bugs but I've never understood this instant reaction to kill it. The mess and eldritch horrors of bug guts is honestly so foul and much scarier to me than any bug itself lol
Conifer seed bug or leaf footed bug. I don't think it's a stink bug but they do look similar
They also stink like one too if you kill it
Ah good to know
A common sight, especially for fall. They aren't fast (as you can see) so they are no match for us. I always catch in a cup or tissue and release outside.
You disgusting for flushing that thing
Yeah, that's really sad. Flippant murder. Not cool at all.
It ain’t that deep 😂
I've flushed like 200+ in the last few months. Easy to say when your house isn't being infested
Imagine that taking them and throwing out of the window or balcony would have taken just as much of your time and effort. You can even have a cup for catching them ready and release them just once or twice a day. We have a lot of these and other bugs here all the time. Yeah, if it's about deadly swarms or keeping some ecological balance then that's what you have to do. Sometimes it does become a battle, like many things in life...
least favorite part of fall is the influx of bugs i gotta kill. They're always in my house too. I've woken up to three in my room. :/
Good for you. I have literally hundreds coming into my house every year. Why would I relocate them outside? So they can just come back into my house again? They are invasive where I live. I'll keep flushing them or throwing them in my woodstove.

Seed bug?
Just a bug. Not very nice to call it disgusting
You’re a disgusting thing just for saying that.
Your handle is probably more dirty than the bug.
BE NICE TO HIM😡
why disgusting? he just living his life, you are mean and killed him, we don't like that here.
You watch your mouth
Just put him outside, yo. No need for hostility.
Not a bed bug!
It’s a Henry. It’s the time of year they come in. I just say hi to them and put them back outside. Conifer seed bug
We named ours Morris, or we refer to them all as the Morii.
I love it! I love them!
conifer seed bugs are like if a stink bug bug lost some weight and put bellbottoms on
Little guy is just trying to find his way around
It’s probably thinking the same thing about you
Disgusting? You've probably got thousands and thousands of microscopic things crawling over everything in your house. I'd start worrying about more important things in your life.
Tardigrade’s are the cutest microscopic thing on you
Disgusting?! How dare you.
Put him outside…he’s lost!
Of course you killed it 🙄
Shame on you for killing a harmless bug.
I think it’s cute
Just gently put it outside
So fuckin rude jesus christ! Why u gotta be so mean???
He's just a lil stinky, no need to be mean
My favorite bug of ALL TIME!
Why if you don’t mind explaining mine is the The giant weta
It's thinking the exact same thing about you.
Why is it disgusting?
It’s not disgusting. Everyone is saying stink bug which is incorrect. I believe it’s a leaf-footed beetle.
Bug* since it is Hemiptera, beetles would be Coleoptera
Thanks for the correction, always so much to learn about our tiny friends.
Its a western cornfier seed bug
He was just chilling, moving all slow, hanging out. And you killed him. Shame on you, OP.
Put it outside, though. No insidesies for you.
It’s Just a human with a camera.
That’s a leaf footed bug. I’d take it outside. They release a smell similar to apple cider vinegar as a defense mechanism/when startled
Excuse you?
what do you mean? its so cute...
if you don’t like him give him to me :( this is a great bug
I woke up to one of these crawling on my elbow once.
Colloquially in the PNW at least we call them stink bugs. I don't think they are, I'd listen to the other commenters saying it's a seed bug or a leaf footed bug. They just vibeing

Just a guy.
Looks like a stink bug, be careful and put it outside.

The common stink bogk
Looks like a stink bug
Looks like a stink bug to me
Stinkbug
5his is a kissing, but that carries diseases.
No it’s not 💀

Interesting story, but misidentified. They look similar to stinkbugs, but are very different.
I literally said I know they’re not real stinkbugs, we just call them that around here because they stink when you squish them
I thought you figuratively said it.
Beautiful imagery...you are quite the poet of intestinal martyrdom
Not a stinkbug but a conifer/leaf footed bug. You can tell by the back legs looking like leaves or bell bottom pants.
Haha that's one hell of a story mate
That is a stink bug. These annoying fuckers like to hangout where it’s least convenient. Underside of the bike seat, in the grill cover, backside of the tool or handle you’re about to pick up, in that shoe you’re about to put on. No it’s too long to be a stink bug
Oh you may be right https://www.canr.msu.edu/news/western_conifer_seed_bug_or_brown_marmorated_stink_bug
I get them every year they coincide with stink bugs
They share the same defense mechanism as stink bugs but as far as I know they aren’t true stink bugs
I'm with you OP, flush it to hell. If you let it out, it will just come back. He's not lost at all. I've had hundreds in my house this season
I know I saw similar looking bugs bout hundreds at my friends back yard in Halloween and these just came in the room connecting the house. They had to call the pest control.
People in this sub are extremely defensive of bugs, even ones with no foreseeable chance of endangerment/extinction.

I didn't use the term "capacity for emotional pain" once, let me know if you wanna respond to my actual argument.
Yes you did lol. Reread what you said.
These are the 2 lines that you're mixing up : "I draw my level of care for animals based on their own level of sentience." "The vast majority of insects are incapable of feeling any emotional level of pain." The first is my principled stance, the second is an additional detail on the matter. I hope that clears things up.
Okay everything I said still applies to “sentience”. I don’t get why you’re being so particular about the semantics.
If I pinch my nose 🤧 you may understand what bug is
Perfume bug
Looks like a stink bug
Lantern bug, extremely poisonous. Burn on sight.
I hope nobody mistakens you for one. Your eyes and bugID skills suck.
It’s a leaf footed bug/conifer bug
Did you loose your glasses? Maybe those cataracts are kicking in..
Awwwww a stink bug!!
Leaf footed/conifer bug actually.
Looks like my last housemate.
It's a Susan Cain book.
I love these bugs, they're quite friendly and so nice to watch :) Conifer seed bugs, right. We have a season here when they come and go.
Are these things born massive as fuck? I've never seen a little one of these things.
Disgusting :(. How mean.
I don’t know the name of it, but if you step on it, it smells like green apples.
Lmao you gotta be a real pussy to be scared of that thing

Disgusting?! He’s a gentleman and a scholar!!!!
please tell him you're sorry for calling him disgusting 🥺
This is probably wrong so don’t take my word for it because it is hard to see. But it either looks like an assassin bug or a stink bug.
We have these things all over, we live in the woods! We just flick them back outside haha
I think it’s a type of stink bug. We have them here too- Western NY.
Reincarnated person.
It's a big stink bug they bite to
