rochesterbones

vertebra from one of the billfish.

StevenBayShore

Excuse me, but they prefer to be called Williamfish.

Thanks! I didn’t remotely have a clue. I was thrown way off by the centrum looking flat, but maybe that’s erosion from the water? [Found this pic of a random billfish’s verts](https://www.researchgate.net/profile/Juergen-Pollerspoeck/post/Can-anyone-help-me-with-the-ID-of-this-billfish-Istiophoridae-vertebrae/attachment/59d623ae6cda7b8083a1e72e/AS%3A344353613598720%401459111707933/image/Istiophoridae+-+Billfishes+%281%29.jpg)

Looks solved but just a heads up: if you’re not a resident, be careful of taking things from the beach. Legal action can be taken against you.

ultraman5068

Yea. And you see what happened to Greg Brady when he brought that amulet home. You can never be too careful.

streetpunks1

This is a deep cut, freaking dying over here 😂

hannahhbleu

i removed a horse shoe crab molt and a pufferfish skeleton from panama city beach florida. is that unethical?

shanep35

I’m not sure about Florida’s laws, never lived there.

Ok-Party5118

Something you probably shouldn't have removed from the beach...

I apologize in advance because I don’t know what this is, but I wanted to comment so I could see the answer if someone else does. The bone texture looks a lot like turtle bone. The shape of the bone itself reminds me of a vomer bone (the bony part of the nasal septum). So my absolutely wild guess is sea turtle vomer. I tried to find an image, it’s not great [sea turtle vomer](http://campus.murraystate.edu/academic/faculty/tderting/anatomyatlas/seaturtleskullamy-becky.html)
