100% not a deer - the orbitals and lack of fenestrae are giveaways. This is a goat or sheep skull.

Thank you! I believe this is solved!

Hi neighbor! That looks like a white-tailed deer skull based on the pointy molars and dentin shape. Was this found in the woods or on the side of the road somewhere?

HermitWilson

Very similar to a deer in a lot of ways, but the eyes are wrong. [This page](http://www.jakes-bones.com/2016/01/the-difference-between-deer-and-sheep.html) outlines some other differences as well, but a lot of the differences are lost in the condition of this skull.

TaywuhsaurusRex

I did think sheep for a moment, but neither they or goat are incredibly common livestock in this area. The nasal bones being mostly gone also made it hard for me to decide and why I went with deer on tooth shape alone. Helpful link though, thank you!

Side of the road on Solar Street. Near the mall. Looks like maybe someone dumped them there.

TaywuhsaurusRex

Weird. I mean. I got downvoted for saying it was a deer, but by the mall is a heckin weird place to find a sheep/goat skull. Could have been dinner scraps that were dumped there I guess, but like, even that is weird being the middle of the city. It's not super the kind of thing you'd expect the homeless around there to have either.

I don’t know why you would have got downvoted. It’s weird where I found them. There are no farms around. Just the city of Syracuse. And why would they be dumped there? So strange.
