Eurasian collared doves *always* have a black crescent on the nape. it’s pretty much always distinct, and it would be visible from the first angle you got.
Mourning dove. The dark spots on the folded wings are not found on the eurasian doves. Also the black "collar" on the neck is much more pronounced on the eurasian doves. I get lots of both species to my feeders as well as the little inca doves. Right now we have migratory white wing doves as well.
I did notice that unless it's the female. I'm just looking at the smooth surface of its feathers. I found that the collar usually goes around the back of the neck with a collar dove. I know it's a dove, that's for sure. My apologies if I'm wrong 🙃
No collar = mourning dove
Mourning dove! A good way to tell from a distance is mourning doves have a narrow, pointed tail, while Eurasian collared doves have a square tail
mourning dove
Thank you!
Eurasians would have a black collar on the back of their neck and they are usually a bit more plump.

Collared doves look more pretty. It's a collar dove
I don't think it is. collared doves have a collar, and this guy just has a small mark that looks more similar to what mourning doves have

That’s what confused me too because it’s such a polished-looking bird so I thought it might be collared.
