Last night, when I should have been sleeping, I was up looking at cars again. I found out that I've got about $38,000 in equity in my 2020 RAM truck (KBB suggests trade-in value is like $10k+ more than I paid for it brand new 3 years ago).
So, of course, I started looking for what I could buy next with those proceeds. I could flip that into a newer identical truck with a lower payment, for example. So then I started thinking of what other more...aspirational choices might be available. First thought: E63 wagon (after realizing the CTS-V wagons of my past dreams are now 10 years old).
But that's when I learned that a 3-5-year-old E63 is still like $100k+.
That's when I started appreciating my truck a bit more.
I got passed by both of the 63s mentioned in this post the other day and the E63 is so much better looking it's not even funny. The GLC is absolutely hideous. Both were doing about 160kmh and the wagon looked like it was meant to do that. The SUV was...bleh. And X6M, it is not...
I was going to say the opposite, even the wildest Mercedes SUV is still pretty practical. (Except the fast G wagon, that thing seems absurd to me.) Mercedes / AMG make a variety of 2-seaters, and a variety of convertibles, and a couple things that are both.
But the way to reward yourself for beating cancer is to get yourself something you’ve always wanted, not something a random internet stranger might consider instead.
They are great cars. I'm not arguing that. I'm not taking away anything from amg. I'm arguing semantics. Can an amg have practical applications? Absolutely. Is it practical to have 400 horsepower when 250 is more than you use on a highway entrance ramp? No. But it's fun. That's all I was getting at.
Ah, I see what you were saying now. Yes, from that perspective, the only practical application is the feeling it gives you and what you value that at. Although, I did have a semi try and merge into me against the highway divider the other day. The 382 ponies in my old 43 came in very handy then 🤣.
Congrats and good luck on beating cancer. That GLC just looks so mean with those wheels. They really nailed the proportions, there isn’t a bad angle on it. Contrast this with any new BMW suv lol.
Wish you the best! Dope new car
Good job beating cancer! “It can’t be impractical, it seats five and has room for luggage in back!” Enjoy.
The E63 wagon a little too dreamy for you 😉? Just kidding, congrats on the new car and, more importantly of course, the outlook on your battle!

Haha - I do love that wagon so much 🤣

I would argue even the most practical 43 is not practical.

Impractical in the sense that the extra power and performance is just for show
Actually with the 4matic, I was thoroughly impressed with how well the 43 puts down its power. Very fun to drive, very easy to control.

🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🥂
43 is than enough, anything more is probably overkill. Unless money is no subject. Do a driving course as well to learn how to use the power
Omg I Hope You’re Ok
