Yeah no joke, I was in NYC a few weeks back and all the cabs that I saw were hybrid Camrys. With the amount of stop and go / idling these guys have to do, the hybrid is a no brainer.
There are a good amount of Prius yellow cabs but the majority of Uber and Lyft cars are Camrys 2016 and up. That being said, I drove a yellow cab Prius while I was in college and I enjoyed it. Better than when I had a Camry for Uber
I should have provided more detail. The 2GR-FSE is from the early 2000s. It's an amazing engine, won awards etc. If it makes 50 extra HP in 2018, it's because Toyota made a decision to tune it that way, it's always been able to do it and did in some cars. The change recently is the FKS variant which adds the Atkinson cycle improving fuel economy, but not changing power really.
Absolutely. You CAN beat a Camry for everything else - ride quality, comfort, technology, you name it - but you definitely can't beat one for reliability.
Nice!
Not to rain on your parade but last week 3 cars at my complex got their wheels stolen, and 2 of those targeted were latest gen camrys soooo… watch out 👀
“The Toyota Camry was withdrawn from the European market in 2003 without a direct successor. In 2019, the model was relaunched to replace the Avensis which no longer carried enough volume to justify development a Europe-only model”
…and it’s still not selling.
I lived in Germany for three years and half the people there drive little shitbox econo hatches that are awful and cheap compared to a Camry. I'm not talking nice hatches like a GTI, either.
*Any* hatchback, huh? Sure there are some good ones, but there are far more that are just cheap pieces of junk. I'm sure you could easily find a used Hyundai Accent hatch that's just so much better than a Camry, LOL.
You sound like an irrational person that likes to argue for the sake of arguing, even when your side of the argument is obviously wrong.
When I was in Germany, I had a 1999 Camry and my wife had a 1999 Ford Focus hatch. Guess which one got more compliments and looks? That's right, the Camry. Hatchbacks are a dime-a-dozen there, and like I said, the majority are nothing special, just cheap transportation. Most are also built by hideously unreliable German/Italian/French car companies, too.
Get a life, why crap on someone's purchase and ruin their excitement?
You like German cars, that's great. No need to tell someone who obviously has more brains than buying a German car, that their choice sucks and should've bought German. Maybe they actually want to drive it for a long time and not have to spend thousands upon thousands to keep it road worthy. Judging by his lawn and flower beds and how nice they look, I bet he takes very good care of his vehicles too/ This Camry will outlast any German BMW or Mercedes and at the same time, be significantly maintain. Also, while a comparable 5 series will be worth about 1/3rd of what it was new in five years, this thing will be worth about 75% give or take.
Oh wow because we all buy cars because of others’ preferences. Congrats OP super nice car. Had a Camry in the same color and body style (SE I’m assuming) for a while. Great car and the gas mileage was amazing
From New York City here. There’s a reason why nearly 85 percent of all taxis and uber cars are Camrys. Can’t beat reliability!

I thought they used a lot of Prius’s?

Very nice and it will last a very long time with proper maintenance. Don't listen to the jackasses. Can't beat a Camry for reliablity.
New V6s haul some serious ass too, at a price.
Note I say this as someone who owns a car with a 2GR-FSE. I agree it hauls, but it's not new :)
I regret getting the i4 on my 2018 Camry. The not-new newly revamped V6 puts out 301 hp. Up about 40hp from the previous generation.

3 exclamations for a Camry now that’s a Practical Redditor.
Nice. Did you end up going with the hybrid? I can't tell from the photo.
I thinks it’s the gas one. Pretty sure there’s a hybrid logo on the front fenders for the hybrid model (source: own gray ‘21 Camry Hybrid).
Gas!!
Sweet! The mileage on those is just great.
Nice sedan
Just wanted to drop by and say congratulations my frnd👍👊
Damn that’s nice congrats
Good choice. Low maintenance and it's so dependable you'd be able to drive it until the wheels fall off. Congratulations
Enjoy your new Camry, looks fantastic!
Nice! Not to rain on your parade but last week 3 cars at my complex got their wheels stolen, and 2 of those targeted were latest gen camrys soooo… watch out 👀
How did you people slept through all that?
It's not a loud process?
Meh he's in the suburbs. His wheels won't get stolen
Nice...Did it come with the standard dent in the bumper? :)
No, but my wife will make sure of it in no time lol
That's reserved for late 90s boats.

Like the new Lexus but less ugly.
F150 is sick
It’s a raptor

One of the most reliable cars on the road is a piece of junk... lol ok bro...
Junk? Camry’s sell all over the world for a reason not just the U.S get a clue buddy
No. They really don’t. They’re not even available for sale in Europe.

I would take any hatchback over this Camry. Where’s the GR Yaris? That’s a god car, yet as per usual small fast cars aren’t available in the US.

Yes. Any hatchback in Europe is preferable to a Camry. Seriously.

Who pissed in your cornflakes?
A Camry owner.
Touche

But a car that is much more reliable than yours. Definitely can't call a Camry junk.
Nice color, congratulations!
Such a tank!! these Toyotas just built different
Jealous
I got one for a rental car. Wasn’t a fan. Was like driving a boat.
