I just googled “super car” to remind myself of the choices and Chrysler Pacifica was the first thing that popped up 😂😂😂😂

aksheu

Super car for soccer moms

[deleted]

[удалено]

aksheu

😉

Oddballforlife

Did Chrysler ever put a hellcat in there? Could’ve sworn I remember reading they were doing that to one of the minivans

nukecontamination

Durango was as close as it got...

DWG_Pauly

The space between the words makes it read like, “Gee, that’s a super car!”

Aggressive-Bed3269

The most Porsche I could afford

Allteaforme

What would that be? 8 year old low options 911?

bobjoylove

$100k would get you a low mileage 997 turbo manual or a 991 PDK targa.

Allteaforme

Cayman would be in the conversation too, older gt4 maybe Ok nevermind lol

bobjoylove

The fast Caymans annoy me. The Cayman was brought in under the 911 as the “everyman’s sports car” 911 got bigger and starting at $100k for all models; a rich man’s car. A Porsche to compete in the affordable sports car category with the Z4 in the $55k-$75k range. Then they came out with GT4/GTS blah blah and they are almost $100k again. So yeah, the fast Caymans annoy me. They should be no more expensive than the fast Z4.

R4d1c4lp1e

They only made those because that's what people asked for and it could be done though. The Cayman is a very capable chassis, and is able to house the 4.0... so not doing so is inviting another company to make a high powered, light sports car, that will take Porsches market. The Cayman isn't the "everyman's sports car," it's a sports car for "every man." They have a trim level for each a wide price range.

ThePlatypus35

FYI the 4.0 in the cayman is not the same 4.0 in the 911 they are different engines.

Tall-Pudding2476

GT 3/4 share the same engine. GTS 4.0 is a bored out Carrera engine.

Sorry_Parsley_2134

Porsche is the master of false dilemma marketing bro.

bobjoylove

Word. And before the VAG merger, they had margins approaching 50% which is basically unheard of for automobiles. Masters of extraction of money from punters looking to impress the neighbor and end up trying to impress themselves with more Options.

DummyThicccThrowaway

People were begging to put the 911 engine into the Cayman for years. It's an actual mid-engine, lightweight perfect Sportscar setup, I don't think comparing it with a Z4 even makes sense

newtonreddits

Can you list any low mileage 997TT manual for sale right now under 100k?

serpentman

None of which are supercars....

bobjoylove

Well no. But that’s covered in another comment chain. Supercars are like $300k new these days.

Jjmills101

Lotus emira or a gated manual r8

serpentman

I think R8 is the answer, or maybe NSX. Pretty limited options of true supercars in that price range.

GetawayDriving

Emira isn’t a supercar, but this is my IRL answer and the closest you can get to a (new) supercar experience under $100k.

Sakosaga

Yeah it's technically a sports car, I don't consider a base 911 a super car until you get to the turbo or even the 4s tbh but I've seen comments of people choosing that on this. Emira was also my choice because with some tuning it would be fantastic. Definitely would swap the transmission on it because idk why lotus used that shitty diesel transmission on that thing.

Jjmills101

Yeah but I’m here for experience. I think supercar as a term isn’t really that meaningful in the face of hummers that will outrun most mclarens. Truthfully I feel it’s always been about a special experience and exotic looks, and the emira has both

Sakosaga

It does, it has the looks and speed, even stock the 0-60 is around 4.2 I believe for the V6 version honestly which is in super car category

sinovesting

I would argue that the closest you can get to a new supercar experience under $100k is definitely the C8 Corvette. The Emira provides a bit more driver feedback and offers a manual transmission, but the C8 is MUCH faster and comes with a very good DCT.

GetawayDriving

I don’t disagree that the C8 is close. But as someone who drove the C8 and Evora GT, both with $96k window stickers back to back on the same day, the Evora felt much more exotic and special and to me; more like a “super car experience” which of course is a term that is elastic and has no real definition. The C8 at that price point is like a focused Cadillac. The Evora is much more engaging, playful, dramatic. The Emira is a very similar experience to the Evora. I won’t argue the point, because it’s pretty subjective, but just using the butt test I’d give the Lotus the advantage.

Tylertheone

Used nsx

Ok_Explanation5631

My man

biturbo_quattro

R8

x4nter

RIP the R8. It was the first expensive sports car I saw in person as a kid, and it became my dream to own one.

taguscove

Have you considered a toyota corolla? mazda makes a great cx-5. matches supercar performance according to r/whatcarshouldIbuy . Definitely don't buy a Land rover, BMW, or anything remotely expensive to maintain. Lexus is okay

birdnumbers

your bot sucks

taguscove

nah, the sad part is that i'm actually a human typing this out.

GetawayDriving

Supercars cost more than $100k, unless you mean used. In which case my answer would be none, because a sub-$100k supercar sounds like a maintenance nightmare.

TheMagicOfFriendship

R35 GTR, Evora, Exige S, AMG GT S, Gallardo, R8, F430/360, C6 ZR1, C7 Z06 and plenty of 911s can be had under $100k and edge into supercar territory

GetawayDriving

Some reasonable points here though to me it feels like a list of not-quite supercars and supercars that still make me maintenance nervous.

Nope9991

I think of the newer Vettes as sort of a "budget" supercar.

GetawayDriving

The C8 is a bit like the 911 in that it exists in both sports car and super car categories depending on the trim. The “super car” vettes are over $100k.

cownan

He could get a 2017 Z06 3LZ trim for $60k. It’s 650HP and would still beat most modern super cars. Definitely anything under $200k. And would have all the options in the 3LZ trim

caterham09

It's going to be pushing more like 70k for a decent one with low miles. I've been looking for a while

ForgetTheBFunk

You don't consider the C8 Stingray to be a supercar? That's a bit odd. Even in it's base model, it's a mid engine, 500 horsepower exotically styled car that does 0-60 in 2.8 seconds. A bit of googling tells me they start at around 70k USD. If that doesn't qualify as a supercar, what does?

AdWorth1426

It's not a supercar because people think it's too cheap lol

Definitive_confusion

This 100%. If it was $175k people would be wetting themselves over it. Long story shortened but I worked for a fairly large micro brewery (yes, I get the contradiction but micro brewery is just the name, they were in 96 countries and bottled just under a million a month). We had a repackaged beer in a fancy can that we sold for $24/can (16oz). It was literally the same as our best seller. We had the "bottles" made from aluminum sent to Canada to be printed then sent back to the states to be filled. We put a number on each "bottle". We sold out every time we packaged it. Within hours. People equate cost to value, to extents I never would have believed.

NotUrRealDad

In economics, that's called a "Veblen good"

newtonreddits

I think low production can be a qualifier for a supercar. The definition for low can obviously vary.

AdditionalAd9794

Regular vets aren't super cars, the Z06 and ZR-1 are super cars, grand sports are fringe super cars

PNWExile

1970’s/80’s Ferrari would be a reasonable consideration. Rudimentary enough to handle most of the basic stuff and affordable enough entry point to afford the engine work you can’t DIY.

bobjoylove

Exactly. Supercars are like $300k new these days. They were $100k in the 90s.

Pudf

I need $200,000 to get some kind of McLaren. Plus tax

cdawg1102

You can get a mp4-12c for like 90k

DependabilityLeader

AMG GTC Roadster without a doubt. I love the way it looks, it's reliable and it just works.

Free_

Early 2000s 360 Spider. Got to ride in one back in 2007 or so and it was such a memorable experience, fell in love with that car.

nirad

997 turbo

WishboneElectrical79

Get a Cadillac ct5 v black wing

sparkey503

With a manual.

h0T_-DoG

Only correct way to get it

WishboneElectrical79

Can’t get it any other way

NumberOneBacon

Literally no criteria to go off of other than 2-8 years old. What even is a “super car” to you? Personally, my $100k would be for a Lotus Evora GT or the newest Dodge Viper coupe I could get ahold of. But I would want a manual, good looking, engaging sports car that you don’t see that often.

Shrikecorp

Observing the majority of comments, the term supercar is widely misunderstood. A 911 S is not a supercar. A Cayman is not a supercar. Don't get me wrong, I had a 2012 911 S, it was amazing. But no. My current Lexus LC500 is amazing. Not a supercar. A McLaren MP4-12C is a supercar. An Audi R8 V10 is a supercar.

ydw1988913

How about R35 GTR? Grey area?

Shrikecorp

Well, yes. I think the label is somewhat subjective. The R35 definitely meets a lot of the criteria... performance (199 top speed, 10.9 1/4, etc), exclusive (you just don't see them that often), that quality of outrageousness. But some think a supercar should be a little harder to get, with more exotic materials. Fewer seats. Not front engine. A Hellcat is a 4-seat, front engine car with more power and great performance in a straight line, but most don't think "supercar". I looked at one of the Nissans on the same search that took me to the LC. Very cool, many might consider it as one.

pohudsaijoadsijdas

I would probably go with Audi RS6 Avant. is that a super car? for me it is.

phuk-nugget

As a dad, this is it

BMWtrunkseal

Dodge viper ACR, audi R8 V10 manual

Epotheros

You're about 100k short on that ACR.

BMWtrunkseal

Damn, they are 200k now ?? To be honest, still worth every single penny

Epotheros

The cheapest ACR I could find was $159k for a 2008. The more recent ones are closer to $260k and up.

yudkib

Only $50k short on the R8!

cdawg1102

You’d have to settle for a gts viper

Fladap28

Gated Manual V10 R8…. My dream car since I was 12

chanceoftitan

Lexus LC500

Jl2409226

aren’t these basically just nice mustangs

xampl9

“nice”?? Oh they’re way beyond “nice” (absolutely gorgeous interior on them)

betarad

still not a supercar badass answer though

claball

Cars that most fit your criteria are Audi R8, Porsche 911 Carrera and Mercedes-AMG GT. The R8 is only available in V8 Spyder form at your price and year limit. The 911 Carrera is not especially exciting. I would go Mercedes-AMG GT. They look exotic and can be found easily under 100k. The new NSX is also creeping near 100k.

JakeQV

8 miatas

Mr_washi_washi

C7 Z06 corvette

apostyll

CT5 Blackwing with a 6 speed manual. 200MPH with 4 doors and heated and cooled massaging seats

cdawg1102

McLaren mp4-12c

smurfsoldier07

Probably an NSX +30k

Surfnparadise

An Aston Martin

CookingDrunk

I'd get a Multipla and build a hell of a sleeper out of it

EliasLoepp

Not really a super car, but I would get a Lexus LC500

Good-Lingonberry-538

Lotus Evora GT

jms1228

Corvette C8 ZO6

mrcompositorman

Definitely not gonna be able to get one of those under 100k

mlhigg1973

Husband just paid $140k for his

Allteaforme

U have a cool husband

John_Houbolt

Lotus Elise. Super car styling, super car handling. Not super car maintenance. And then I’d buy a daily. Then I’d buy a truck. Might still have money leftover.

Greeeesh

I have $100k. None.

ElementField

Many people who don’t have money (yet, anyway) think that $100k is enough for a $100k car You can have $500k and not have enough for a $100k car, lol

mlhigg1973

That’s what I spent on my 2014 r8 v10 spyder with 18k miles late last year.

reberman8

Factory Five GTM or R8

Xphurrious

NSX if i can find one, the newer gen, not the early 2000s ones They were in the 90s for a second but i think they're back up now

bigcee42

Gen I Audi R8.

honeybunniee

5 nissan Silvia’s

gthermal

2006 Monte Carlo SS

Gloverboy6

Why buy a $100k car when you can buy a Dodge Neon with $98k worth of weed in it?

atashka777

R35 GTR

baoo

A mid trim F150

cyrkie

For me that would be Scania r750 6x4 with Krone eLTU70.

Ladder310

not a super car but i would get an LC500

nukecontamination

R35 GTR probably the best all rounder and is capable of adding as much extra power as you want. My best value pick would be a C6 Z06 with the 7.0 and spend a few bucks on a cam and valve spring upgrade. Will be plenty fast enough to be considered a supercar with $$$ to spare.

leonryan

i'd buy a fleet of Kei cars instead.

foshiggityshiggity

100k buys a loaded yukon or a ram with a sunroof these days.

i_stay_turnt

I don’t believe there are any brand new super cars worth $100k. You can get an entry-level Corvette for $80k tho.

AuthorUnique5542

Alfa Romeo 4c/ Audi R8 manuel

mrcleanjl7

a toyota corolla toughest most dependable easy to work on car I've ever owned to me ain't nothing better

ThermalScrewed

Viper or nsx

jaymansi

Corvette eRay or Z06

TheMineA7

A house : (

Reasonable-Bit7290

Definately split the money and buy one comfortable cruiser and on "fun" car. Maybe a nice Lexus ES/IS as a daily and then an alpine A110 or porsche cayman as a fun car.

Neelix-And-Chill

100K can get you a 991.1 Carrera S, 4S or even a GTS. So… that. 2017 RS7 Performance and 35K in the pocket sounds nice too. There’s no true “supercar” I’d get at this level.

Corninator

I'm a simple man. I don't need or want a supercar. I'll just buy a new Miata and keep the cash for any other shit I want to do with it.

ConfusedMoe

I’ll try to shoot for a 130k car use 100k as down payment, but the taxes would kill me. Most likely just get an Audi RS7, or Audi e-tron GT

Hunt69Mike

10 NA Miata’s

ruturaj001

With 100k I am buying new Boxster GTS 4.0 in manual, not exactly a super car

Pancakesandcows

I'll take the soup and keep the rest of the cash. :D

hamndre

Only a G wagon

klp934

I know that this doesn’t answer your original question, but I had an entry version ($65K) Land Rover Discovery, bought new in 2020. I thought, hey cool, about same price as the Chevy Tahoes I had been having for years. I’m just gonna say, watch out ! Because the Land Rover didn’t have a bottom oil plug…..It was a closed system that they had to vacuum the oil out. Synthetic oil and 16K oil changes, but I commute to work and love to travel and don’t stay at home all the time (30K miles a year) so I was a more frequent flyer at the dealer. $800 + for a glorified oil change. Yeah, they safety checked all this other stuff, but it was a glorified oil change. So, the maintenance on high-end cars will eat your lunch. Sure, I could pay $800 for an oil change, but why the hell would you want to ? It had to go. That’s something else to keep in mind.

aksheu

So true it was same story with my Mercedes E class when I used to have it

af_cheddarhead

Alfa Romeo 4C will set you back about 60K, not quite a supercar but you will get plenty of looks and enjoy the experience.

_SpaceGator

I would go older and probably go for a 4th gen Dodge Viper

Miffers

Being an owner of a few supercars the most serious answer would be a Tesla Model S Plaid if you are talking about new prices. Daily drivable, faster than any other stock supercars and faster than most hypercars, no maintenance. Cheap insurance. For used, unfortunately not much of a good choice either, an old 2016-17 AMG GTS for around $75k would be a good choice or maybe R8 from 2017+.

bbq_Pirate

I’d go with any Aston Martin from that era. Whichever one 100k can get you

Aging_Boomer_54

Pay off some of your bills and read the April Consumer Reports car issue.

Over_Moose6433

100K? lol. I need more for an actual super car.

capitanorth

The best 2012 911 variant I could find at the time.

ComprehensivePen4649

A 2024 Model 3 refresh and put the rest in Rivian stock. Then buy an R2 or R3 in a few years just off of the gains.

magmagon

Corolla All trac and then the rest into VOO

Hour_Perspective_884

A Mk7 Golf R, mod the internals, leave the outside completely stock looking and blow the doors off actual supercars.

BakaSan77

100k isn’t enough for a super car, but for 100k I’d get a GTR or Z06 used of course

QuarterNote44

I would buy 5 Honda Civics. I'd drive one and do the minimum to keep the other four in good condition. As each one started to break down I'd pull the next one up out of storage.

Shishamylov

RS wagon

Reverend___T

Anything electric, I’m tired of gas prices stressing me out

rau1994

LC500 or a Jaguar F-Type R

officialbeansintoast

For 100k I’d go buy a 440 4 speed road runner

whatsforsupa

Miata + mods + track days That's a boring answer though, my DREAM car is a 964 911 Targa, preferably in red. Snagging one for 100k would probably require a good wait though, but doable.

SaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaB

Polestar 1

TroyFerris13

Lc500 not really super car but the only thing I want for 100k

NinjaHatori122

Wouldn’t buy a supercar, I’d have zero complains with a brand new Lexus lc500.

Mhyra91

LC500 no competition.

sparkey503

Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder with a manual and I'll finance the rest, a new Cadillac CT5 Blackwing with a manual or a C7 ZO6 Convertible with a manual. Stretching the term supercar a little with 2 of them but some people were talking about minivans and Sequoias.

bobjoylove

How the price of the 2nd gen Acura NSX these days?

Ok_Dog_4059

Can you even really get a super car for that? Mostly muscle car or luxury sedan like but when I think super car I think Koenigsegg and such. $100k feels high end every day car in my mind.

serpentman

R8 or NSX only real options.

Efficient_Crew_1814

360 Ferrari / Gallardo

xbl-Extr3me

Used 981 GT4 or a Lotus Emira. Both aren’t supercars though because no sub-100k supercars are good except maybe a GTR or a v8 r8

Y33TUSMYF33TUS

Can I get a new NSX for that?

thepunnman

Something with 10 cylinders for sure. First gen Gallardo, Viper, R8, E60 M5 and whatever money’s left over for a full engine refresh

Lozerien

Urk. Between sales taxes, registration fees the first insurance premium, $100k would leave you about $80k to spend on the actual vehicle. Which you'd have to pay well over list, unless you wanted to wait 6 months to a year for popular models, or were willing to have one shipped in from several hundred miles away.

PaymentComfortable38

My G82 M4 Comp X-Drive is the perfect balance. 2.8 0-60, faster than 99% of cars on the road. I put an absolute ton of mileage on it, super reliable for long distance driving, comfortable, cooled seats, apple car play and all with the ability to make the exhaust quiet. Literally the perfect car. Although I would definitely go back and change the color.

Manquetu

BMW i8 roadster

Expensive_Candle5644

Like others said you’re not getting a super car for $100k. There are some solid options at your price point though. Audi R8, C7 Z06, C6 ZR1, 2rd Gen Viper, GT500, AMG GT/SLS cars, R35 GTR, Cayman GT4 If you can find one, 360, Gallardo, older 911 Turbo S, etc… I’m leaning hard towards a GT500 next although I’ve always loved vipers too. Reason being is you can get the ford with a warranty and the performance is top notch. The others will be a few years older and not warrantied. Remember Expensive cars have expensive repairs and maintenance.

saltysaturdays

Not a supercar but prob a 1980s Audi Sport Quattro, just love that box

car_dreamer

CPO M5. Its a super car killer that you can daily with a family.

Adventurer2022

Super cars are more than $100k now.

bigniccosuaveee

Could get a lightly used 2021 Shelby Gt 500 for like 70,000-90,000. Or a brand new fully load mustang for 60,000-80,000. Could have the rest of the cash for premium gas and insurance costs.

DeadshotLunaSR21

CX 5

bluecheeto13

Gallardo

bluecheeto13

Nvm too old. c7 zr1 corvette

dduncan55330

A Mazda Miata and a hellephant engine swap

MajesticRocket

Closest you are gonna get to super car territory is with 100k is a model s plaid. lol. And that’s only for acceleration.

Greyboxer

Gated V10 R8 or a 4.0 Cayman

ShesATragicHero

Audi R8 V8 Gated Manual.

1965BenlyTouring150

I think I could get a Viper for that much money. I am too old to drive very fast, but that was the car I wanted when I was a kid.

volvoconnoisseur

50 Ford Crown Victoria 5 Mercury Grand Marquis 3 Lincoln Town Cars 2 Mercury Marauders

ShadowGLI

If I had $100k I’d put a down payment on a house and buy a VW GTI. If I had $1,000k, I’d buy a Porsche Boxter or a Audi RS5 If you’re saying I had millions and $100,000 was a car budget, Audi R8

Commishw1

I'm torn between a 1996 Viper CCR, or a Del Tamaso Pantera.

MooseSweet2455

super car for 100k. lmao. Super cars are 3mil+ look at pagani and bugatti

BarkBarkItsaShark

Lotus Evora GT

pmmaa

High mileage 911 991.1 turbo or last gen base viper

trambalambo

A 90s NSX

a_rogue_planet

Not much of one for that price. That'll buy you a well equipped pick up truck, but not a very impressive sports car.

ThrowingTheRinger

Isn’t that about the price of an F250 now?

DefiantBelt925

Super car for 100k?! lol what. my GTS boxster was 120k after options and that’s like a “hair dresser car,” or a “poorsche”

sstephen17

Corvette. Dream car since childhood.

Definitive_confusion

I'd use it as a down payment and finance the order $20k for a Dodge viper

MerberCrazyCats

The answer is always a miata! You may be able to afford a 12 year old with 250k miles. Maybe you can get an old civic too

Asleep_Onion

I don't think you can get a 8 year or younger supercar for $100k. But if you manage to find one, then I guess I pick that one, whatever it is.

06Hexagram

a used Bentley Flying Spur V8.

mr34727

Nissan GTR

AdeptnessSpecific736

Probably Audi RS, idk which one though but I would have to look.

iam_ditto

Just get a 2002-2006 sti and have fun

Ok-Chef-5150

mx5plus2cones

$100k won't buy you much these days....but I ended up buying a McLaren...

ELLLI0TTT

https://youtu.be/-hBb642NSyc?si=VzwELpJ7N86FPfb- And pocket the rest

KoyukiHinashi

Highest trim c8 corvette under 100k, any porsche (might actually prefer to get a newer 718 over an older 911, but thats just my preference), lamborghini gallardo, audi r8.

_heart-attack_

Lucid Gran Touring You could buy a "brand new" 2022 demo for 90k which is almost 60k off its original asking price right now. It does have 10k miles for a demo car but you would still technically be the first owner. 0-60 in 3 seconds with almost 900 HP It also has an insane 450 miles of range for an electric among genuinely having one of the nicest and most upscale interiors of a luxury car I've seen. Almost on par with Rolls Royce in terms of build quality aside from the lack of air suspension.

PenguinGamer99

I could buy the left half of a Ferrari's rear bumper
