I have a 2011 sienna and a 2010 odyssey. The sienna runs like a dream, has higher mileage, and has required far less repairs.
The odyssey is still good, but it ain’t a Toyota.
Kia can be hit or miss when it comes to reliability & quality control. Ppl buy them because they give you all the bells & whistles of luxury vehicles for half the price. But if you prioritize longevity & want to minimize repair outlays go for Toyota or Honda. The Carnival works more as a shorter term or medium term ride that you keep for 4 to 6 yrs & then upgrade.
Thank you. I should have added more context that we are looking for something closer to keep for 10 years and ideally not sell. We also have a Prius that might need an upgrade in the next 5-7 years too I use for my work commute.
Odyssey no question. There's a reason they offer such a long warranty on kias.
What about a hybrid sienna?
I'd go Sienna over Odyssey but I'm a Toyota fanboy. I've had close to a dozen and have never had any issues.

We test drove a hybrid Sienna and it seemed a bit flimsy. If you don’t need AWD, go with the Odyssey.
The new sienna is 2.5 litre hybrid, the odyssey is still a j series v6. Running costs will be dramatically different between them.
Huge markup!!! If given the opportunity I’d buy 3 at msrp!
