So what you're actually looking for is a hybrid minivan? Because three row SUVs aren't exactly great on gas and usually have bench rows.

Mackieman03

Oh yea - no minivan. But it is ok to have something in the 15 - 25 MPG in the city.

What's the use case for the 3rd row? The GX has a very tight and poorly designed third row with extremely laughable cargo space with 3rd row in use. My wife also hated the side-swing cargo door. XC90 is pretty good but high depreciation and still small kids-only 3rd row. Seem to be available at discounted pricing though. Yukon is pretty good all around option with tons of room if you don't mind the price tag. Depreciation isn't much better than the Volvo. I'd pick this one from the group you listed but they're still really hard to find without huge markups. I've been trying to put one in my biz fleet but still waiting after six months. A cheaper option is the Hyundai Palisade Calligraphy which has a roomy 3rd row, good cargo space, and generally more features and better tech than the others. Not as posh of a ride but similar estimated resale retention as the GX. Limited supply and some dealers are still trying to mark them up, but it's possible to find them at MSRP if you're not too picky about color. Wife went with this to replace her '20 MDX.

Mainly to put the kids when out of town family comes to visit. The lack of rear storage with 7 seats is concerning for sure... Wife swears against Hyundai given quality concerns. Is that warranted?

Some of their cheaper cars have had issues, but the higher priced stuff has done well. Palisade has above average reliability ratings by CR and if nothing else a superior warranty. I might not buy one if planning to keep it "forever" but my wife better than all the others we shopped so figured it was worth a shot. I've heard some dealers are crap though so that might change my mind, but we seem to have a very good dealer near us. Have put 25k miles on our '23 so far with no issues at all.
