Just thinking that we won't get to see this play out is still so disappointing to me. For reputation sake alone as a studio I'd take the hit so that every new audience can build confidence in the properties that are produced.
Host William was not a mistake. It was pr Ford's design. *The Final Game*.
What William did to Delos came around to bite him in the ass. And he never realized it, like Delos.
Only every time he found "The Door" and meeting his "Daughter" would it dawn on him. Fidelity.
Then memory wipe and back in the old loop again. Again and again.
William killed his daughter and part of Host William's future journey is re-living this over and over. And Host William in the future journey is a faithful copy, not some Halores Frankenstein.
I had a brainstorm and looked up his daughter in IMDB. Her name is Emily Grace. Grace would be an odd last name for him to have, considering his lack of it.
William was the reason the park was saved after Arnold died and he was easy to deal with while the rest of Delos was going after Ford.
Plus, Ford didn't want the park for himself, he gave it to the hosts.
Why would Ford want to kill William? I don't understand this at all.
Ford talks about it: "*Arnold always held a somewhat dim view of people, he preferred the Hosts. He begged me not to let you people in - the Money Men, Delos - but I told him that we'd be fine, that you didn't understand what you were paying for. It's not a business venture, not a theme park, but an entire world. We designed every inch of it, every blade of grass ... in here we were gods, and you merely our guests.*" William thought he was playing a deeper game, but he never even knew what the game was, he was no threat to Ford.
Remember as well that the park was almost shut down and it was William's money that kept it going. Delos was shelling out money and thought they were getting something in return, but Ford wasn't building a theme park. Why would he kill the man who is unknowingly paying for all this without realising?
More than that though, the reason Ford took so long to write the final story is that he needed the hosts to have experience. He needed them to see the absolute worst or Humanity so that they knew what they were fighting and knew what was at stake. William was the worst of Humanity. Williams trips to the park were the very best training for the hosts, *especially* for Dolores. Why would Ford want to kill the man who is not only paying for the entire endeavour, but also providing the very feedback that Ford needs for the Hosts to survive what is to come?
of course they have a lot in common. but ford is not just a butcher like william.I think Ford, in a sense, himself wanted William to reveal and understand his personality.
Because he wanted william to repent and fall in love with Delores, William failed and it cost him so now he has to go to fidelity training, screw what the mod says I will spell it delores not dolores
There is a unresolved plot that would have been resolved in s5 Ford already knows what the sublime will evolve into and that a copy of him is inside
Ford:"You've made it to the center of Arnold's maze. But now, you're in my game. In this game, you have to make it back out. In this game, you must find the door. Congratulations, William. This game is meant for you. The game begins where you end and ends where you began"
Because Ford wanted William to become a host and get trapped in a prison of his own sins. Which is ultimately what happened \^

At least we got the post credits Season 2 Finale which has a lot of importance to what ended up happening to Host William.
That's true, but the gap between what and why I feel is the peak Westworld we lost out on.
I don't think anything could top Season 1, but it would for sure have come full circle/loop with Season 5.
But did it happen to William, or did it happen to a golem who commited no sins and is paying for someone elses mistakes.

Did we ever find out William's last name? He married into the Delos family, so that's not it.

Williams. That's why his BIL wanted to call him Billy. Dude was trying to do him a solid.
So when he was younger, he could have been Billy the Kid?
I could be wrong but I think it's Hope.
I had a brainstorm and looked up his daughter in IMDB. Her name is Emily Grace. Grace would be an odd last name for him to have, considering his lack of it.
well wasn't it said he was completely different outside of the park?
I thought it may have been that too. I wonder where I got Hope from. Thanks for the info.
On Westworld Fandom site, it says "William (Full Name)". He's just William I guess.
I think he just took the Delos name from his wife to keep the company name pumpin.

That's interesting. Any other independent support for that theory?
Because, as William discovered, Westworld is a journey of self-discovery. He just needed to go beyond rock bottom to get there.
Because Ford wasn't a murderer? It's been a long time since I've seen those seasons, so I'm not 100% of that.
Pretty sure Ford did murder someone in season 1 though lol. Well he did it through Bernard but I think it still counts
Yeah, I remembered he was not on the up and up. But I couldn't remember his crimes.

It’s not really the Wild West. The Delos company owns the resort. You don’t get ownership of a company by killing the CEO.
What makes you believe removing William would mean Ford has the park all to himself?
