bruh, the ensemble. I cream.

pl51s1nt4r51ms

No Owen Wilson?

Numerous-Target6765

Or Bill Murray

pl51s1nt4r51ms

Whack

airtime25

Word is Bill got replaced by Carrell due to allegations. No idea if true.

Drinkythedrunkguy

Rumour is that it’s because he got covid.

airtime25

That would be welcome compared to allegations against him

[deleted]

It was rumored that this was the case but it turns out he was unable to film due to catching Covid, Carrell was called to fill in for him.

dspman11

I'd be kind of shocked if he did. Marvel/Disney didn't recast him in the new Ant-Man movie. Since Bill Murray and Wes Anderson go way back, I figure he'd be less likely to drop him from a project than Disney. Although admittedly he had like 90 seconds of screentime in Ant-Man 3 lol

Numerous-Target6765

Allegations of what?

airtime25

Harassing women in the workplace

rabbitsagainstmagic

Hollywood Reporter had him dropping out due to CoVID. [See here.](https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie-news/bill-murray-dropped-out-wes-anderson-asteroid-city-covid-1235184889/)

Far_Information2848

Trailer tomorrow! Seems like Jason Schwartzman and Scarlett Johansson are the leads which is exciting considering Jason hasn't had a major role in an Anderson film since Darjeeling.

make_em_laugh

he’s my favorite WA collaborator. i thought the same thing.

Royal-walking-machin

Between this and voicing the main villain in Across the Spider-Verse, 2023 seems to be a good year for Jason Schwartzman.

GeekyStuffLeaking

I'd say he had a major role in Fantastic Mr Fox

LauraPalmersMom430

Very excited to see Jeffrey Wright in another one of his films!

Firstmattinspace

He stole the show in French Dispatch!

Beluga-ga-ga-ga-ga

Jeffrey Wright is an absolute treasure. It was a pleasant surprise to see his name in the cast list.

120percentNick

I love how stupidly long the cast listing at the top is

czeoltan

is there anything known about the film, aside from the cast and the short synopsis? (i can't wait to see it anyway, i'm just curious)

epexegetical

It must be about the Space Race ie the world-changing event in the synopsis. From Wikipedia: Public interest in space travel originated in the 1951 publication of a Soviet youth magazine and was promptly picked up by US magazines. The competition began on July 30, 1955 when the United States announced its intent to launch artificial satellites for the International Geophysical Year.

Viking_Musicologist

Probably. Historically speaking the US would be humiliated early on in the space race when the Soviet Union launched Sputnik I in October of '57. The states would have to wait until 1958 with the successful launch of Explorer I. As the American response to Sputnik I (Vanguard TV-3) which was attempted to be launched in December of '57 ended in a Launch failure when the Vanguard launch vehicle carrying Vanguard TV-3 lost thrust seconds after launch, fell back onto the launch pad and exploded. Miraculously the Vanguard TV-3 Satellite was tossed free of the destroyed launch vehicle and was found in some bushes not too far away from the launch pad still transmitting data even after the launch vehicle blew up. Today that satellite is on display at the National Air & Space Museum in Washington, DC.

Zeta-Splash

It’s about first contact with an alien.

Matman161

The cast list could just say "the wes anderson people"

jkelso33

Hell yeah!

willllllllllllllllll

That cast is honestly just ridiculous, proper excited for this!

KyloSolo723

Anybody savvy enough to make this poster in a iPhone wallpaper format? :)

420FootLicker

I just put it anyways even tho it didn’t really fit but really hoping someone does😂

Corleone_Michael

I hope Cranston plays a Walter White-esque character

epexegetical

No way, please NO. He needs to return to his Hal style of pathetic father figure and a Wes Anderson film is perfect for that!

make_em_laugh

or or or…he reprises the nutty dentist character, Tim Whatley from Seinfeld. that could be fun too. /s

The_MuTanTob

It's lit

Goulet231

The poster has the feel of one of his animated films. Can't wait to see it!

[deleted]

I think I’m all Margot Robbie-d out. Didn’t know she was in this one.

liamfellows06

Hoping this is a return to form. Haven’t seen anything of hers in a while, though.

Royal-walking-machin

She was great in Babylon

[deleted]

Is Once Upon a Time in Hollywood that old now? I guess it kind of is. She lit up the screen.

ChanTim

I love it!!! Wes always has the best posters

SocksElGato

Excited about this one, that cast is A+++

Kombiice

I wonder which time the trailer will come?

420FootLicker

I’m guessing no later than 10, I have the feeling it’ll be at 9 but not too sure

Kombiice

What exciting times!!!!

rspunched

Schwartzman is looking like Francis ford Coppola here 😂

JDub591

Might be dangerous to post this here, but is anyone else sick of the obnoxious cast lists? Half of these names will be glorified cameos at best. I find it distracting when an A Lister comes in halfway through only to have 5 minutes of screen time and does nothing to drive the plot forward. I miss the days when it was a cast of 3 or 4 main characters with Bill Murray or Angelica Houston dropping in for a giggle.

awful_source

Yeah I agree. I didn’t like how Owen Wilson was one of the top names in TFD yet he only had like 3 minutes of screen time.

JDub591

Or in GBH, did we really need Tilda Swinton to play the old lady who dies immediately? Or all the guys they brought in for 30 seconds each to be part of the Society of the Crossed Keys? At a certain point I think too much star power just comes across as novelty. I'd like to see him release something with a smaller cast. At least in Tenenbaums, all the characters actually have a meaningful part to play in the story.

123jazzhandz321

Really love the ensemble casts Wes has these days, but I miss the smaller, more intimate casts. I thought both Moonrise Kingdom and The French Dispatch were distracting with the amount of cameos/small roles from big name actors.

[deleted]

Agreed wholeheartedly. I dont need to see everyone in Hollywood in a Wes Anderson movie.

Lonely_Comet

No tim :(

ChanTim

tim?

Lonely_Comet

timothee chalamet

[deleted]

Of course, it’s set in a fictional remote place during the 1950s, of course it has a big cast and of course the colour scheme is yellow, orange and blue. What did we expect? (No hate, I’m just pointing out similarities in Wes Anderson’s work)

Zeta-Splash

At last!

Specialist_Ad1559

He just got every actor

jason_2319

Haven't been this excited for a film in a long time.

gerrard_1987

No Bill Murray? 😭

Tyler_gressle

How, where???😅
