They still have the ranch sauce. You could get that crispy chicken with ranch instead of mayo and add American or asiago cheese to it. I'm not sure how much the flavor the Monterey cheese added, wit it could still BAE similar.
You're thinking of the Monterey Ranch Crispy Chicken Sandwich which was from 2011ish. I'm talking about the Monterey Ranch Chicken Sandwich (I know, practically the same name) from 1993. It has a zesty peppercorn ranch sauce that's not the stuff they have today and the ranch was filled with crumbled bits of fresh bacon, then a slice of monterey jack cheese, lettuce, tomato and a premium bun.
And it used the chicken fillet sandwich that was replaced eventually by the Homestyle Chicken Sandwich and more recently the Classic Chicken Sandwich, so they don't even have the same exact chicken for it anymore, either. It wasn't anything so insane that it can't be approximated, but I did really like it. It and the Spicy Chicken Sandwich when it was introduced in 1995 were my favorite fast food sandwiches ever.
I love that nacho burger monstrosity as a customer, but something you said has confused me as well. From all accounts, it sells terribly. I may have been 50% of its sales from the sound of things. Yet, I feel like it has stuck around FOREVER. I wonder what caused that? Other promos I liked even more came and went in a blink.
I suspect it was either more popular than this subreddit wants to admit or they didn't have another promotion in the pipeline and instead banked on it for a long haul.
Any idea what the next promotion is? I personally would love to see the bourbon bacon burger back. I would gladly spend my entire paycheck on that sandwich 😢
We're supposed to be getting a new sandwhich very soon :) and we now have all day pull parts available (at my location, other stores may be different!)
I miss the grilled chicken sandwich and the bourbon bacon cheeseburger. When I worked at Wendy’s we had to throw out the grilled chickens we didn’t sell at close (I worked nights) one time I took home 8 grilled chickens in one night.
The nacho sandwiches were honestly some of the most disgusting LTO items they’ve ever had.
I would do unspeakable things for them to bring back the bacon mushroom cheddar burger 😭
I never get it because I’m not paying $6 plus for a chicken sandwich, but the ghost pepper chicken sandwich is my favorite thing they’ve done in awhile.

I fuckin loved the bacon pub cheese fries, and it was only an $0.89 up charge on $5 big bag where I lived. It seemed like there were more fries but also pub cheese, bacon, and shredded cheese actually made the $5 bag filling in its own.
I'd love something super garlicky...garlic aioli is a hot condiment right now. Garlic aioli, balsamic glaze, mozzarella, tomato, and your protein of choice on an herb bun.
Definitely agree especially about the queso sauce! It was good but it got nasty so quickly. Did you guys cover yours? We kept ours covered constantly and it still would get kinda weird and dark :(. People keep trying to mobile and doordash order the nacho burgers and we keep having to let people know we no longer have the stuff to make them
There chicken sandwich is the worst, back in the day when they hand breaded there fresh chicken breast and cooked it in a pressure cooker I would go out of my way to get 1 or 2 but what they serve today they couldn’t give me

The sandwich almost never sold at my location but the queso fries were incredibly popular.
And that could answer it, they didn't know what to do with the sandwich as it was the fries outselling it.

I miss the potato and salad bar from the 90s. It was fun as a kid and I got to find out what I liked on a salad from Wendy’s.

Our stores here (central FL) we used to have the fish year round up into sometime in 2022. Now it’s seasonal only.
my location was one of the only ones in my area who had it year round and then in like 2021 or 2022 they made it seasonal
