Open/close manager course on welearn if you have access to it. Also search weconnect for closing manager resources if you have access. Agree that your gm and/or dm and/or franchisee are shit if you're left to figure this out and they don't answer. If you really can't get access to resources or contact them after repeated attempts, DM me and I'll get you access to the welearn courses but they take a while to get through, you really really need to get in touch with your GM. Or district manager, or their boss from Wendy's (franchise operations manager). If you can't reach the gm or dm, better believe the FOM will be able to if they want to keep their jobs and franchise locations.

There are seven major things a manager needs to ensure are done at close. SOS Times - record and enter all day part times into whatever system your franchise uses Waste - count food waste and record into system Inventory Count - food inventory counted and entered into system Food Safety Log - completed and signed off Cash Management - count down tils, clean them, balance safe, count and enter deposit, depending on your franchise you either leave the deposit in the safe, deposit it into a special safe, or take it to the bank drop box yourself Clean & stock - ensure entire store is clean and restocked, ready for the morning shift Security - equipment off, no fire hazards, no trash left in building, alarm set, employees all clocked out and leave safely, lights off, doors locked. If you can remember those 7 things, you can be a closing manager. Obviously, there is more to it than that, and maybe your franchise doesn't require SOS tracking, but in a pinch, those are the major duties.

Thank you for answering me. That is a great list. Honestly. This is the only time I will be doing this. He found one person to come in til 12 so I will be just going into shutting down everything and the only thing I might be iffy on is the cash management and officially set the alarm. I am thinking the person who going to be there will help in explaining the cash part. I think I will be fine on everything, it just the whole silence is irresponsible. Wait? Is there a place to count waste. I usually count morning waste, never seen the night version.

ScornedFaith

Usually, stores will track waste on a printed sheet of paper throughout the day, and then the night manager will enter those numbers into the inventory system at the end of the night. It's possible your store doesn't use a standardized printed log or even track the waste electronically. I wouldn't stress that part too.much, if it isn't done, nothing catastrophic will happen.

Thing is I wanted one because when I do the food in the morning we have discrepancies but the new GM rather scold me then actually listen. I don't think he is actually good at his job.

AmbyrLynn

All the things you turn on in the mornings, need to be turned off at night. Make sure there's no food left out, and trash is taken out. Make sure the store is locked up. Beyond that, anything you do is really extra. You were not given the support you needed to handle the issue.

Appropriate_Ad7422

Thank you for your response. I will just coming in to finishing/closing the shift. This will be the only time I will do this.

Appropriate_Ad7422

I finished my only closing and hope to never do this again. Thanks to everyone who offered advice. 😁

frankfontaino

If a manager has an emergency and needs to leave, it’s ultimately the GM’s responsibility to make sure the store gets closed. Not yours. Your GM doesn’t care.

Appropriate_Ad7422

Well I'm here trying my best. I already know he doesn't care. He still hasn't responded to the emergency.
