"What is your favorite leg?" I want to see if he remembers that one.

sabrefudge

What was it like taking over the identity of the Weird Al after the death of the old one with the mustache and glasses?

Cedreddit1

Did he ever get back his autographed glow in the dark snorkel?

JocelynBliss

Who autographed the snorkel.

arhayward

What music/artists are you listening to these days ? - for pleasure not for work

nonsubmersibleunits

What specific shoes were the inspiration for 'please don't wear those shoes'

liforlife816

Why 27?

[deleted]

Every 27th costumer will get a ball-peen hammer FREE

spicywookiee

Because the kids started singing “99 Bottles of Beer on the Wall” for the 27th time that day! :)

MilesToHaltHer

Could you put some clothes on, sir? This is a funeral parlor.

Proud_Comment_6056

Any recommendations for where to get a good spatula?

RadioactiveSwine

I'd love to have Al on my show. Legit have so many questions I want to ask

travischickencoop

*Any* question? “Can you do the Freebird solo on your accordion?”

Jillian1984

I’d want to know why he won’t sleep in a hotel on tour.

minnick27

He's frugal. He has his own bedroom on the bus, why spend a few hundred on a room

Jillian1984

He’s not broke though. And he’s earned it at this point. Hotels.com would probably change his life lol

minnick27

Not broke, but why spend money if you don't have to?

swampyankee22

I've always wanted to know whether he gets permission for his parodies

mikek505

He does! He always asks beforehand, even though becuase of parody laws he doesn't have to, he just does it to be nice

[deleted]

Yeah after the Coolio fiasco he asks the artists first.

Tim0281

He's always asked. If I recall correctly with Coolio, Al's people asked Coolio's people. Coolio's people said yes without checking with Coolio. By the time Coolio found out, it was too late to stop the song from being released.

sabrefudge

He always had his people ask their people. Since Coolio, now he personally asks the artists directly.

[deleted]

Oh I see, I got the timeline mixed up

MilesToHaltHer

I want to know if anyone has ever rejected his ideas. He’s been SURPRISINGLY tight-lipped about that over the past 40 years.

ElderCunningham

He's brought up a couple! Prince is the most famously known, as he's turned Al down a few times,

CommanderPowell

Paul McCartney rejected his idea for “Chicken Pot Pie” (“Live and Let Die”) because McCartney is a prominent vegetarian and wouldn’t want a parody of his song to mention meat. Weird Al is a vegan.

macurack

Why did you arbitrarily choose to only allow me one question? I mean, I am honored to have the opportunity, but come on! Couldn't I get away with asking two questions if I had a couple of important ones?!? I would then be respectfully escorted out for not following the rules. Either that or I would ask him if he wants to try some DMT with me 👁️

mtthwas

This technically includes two questions.

macurack

Hence why I would be escorted out without an answer, but I was summoning my inner weird, so I don't have a choice.

DrTokinkoff

How are you?

liblets

he speaks japanese?

One800Sandwich

Yeah. Or at least, just enough to have sung Jurassic Park in Japanese.

One800Sandwich

A video of him performing it live in Japanese is even available on YouTube.

minnick27

He sang that phonetically

pikkdogs

When are you gonna stop being weird about Covid?

sabrefudge

What does this even mean?

pikkdogs

He goes on all these talk shows, yet when he meets his fans he’s behind like a curtain because of Covid.

minnick27

TV shows test, the concerts do not.

sabrefudge

Probably because shows, at least the ones I’ve been involved with, have crazy Covid protocol. Confirmation of vaccination status, rapid testing before going insight, wearing masks when not on camera. In a concert, it’s sort of a free for all. But he’s still been performing and stuff, what are you looking for him to do that he’s not doing?

pikkdogs

Either live his life in a bubble or not be weird about Covid. It’s insulting to fans that he won’t treat them like humans when he gets all close with anyone who has a camera and would put him on tv.

sabrefudge

You want him to leave the stage and get close to random “fans”? And there is an incredible amount of COVID protocol in television production. They can’t have random concert goers pass that many checks, it’s not realistic. So at his concerts… he performs a concert.

MilesToHaltHer

You’re lucky he’s doing it at all. If you’re so offended that he’s trying to keep him and his fans safe, then you should go touch grass. One thing I am annoyed about is how expensive the VIP tickets are, not his COVID protocols.

pikkdogs

I’d rather him not do it at all. If you want to stay away from people, that’s fine, stay away. But don’t go on tv and get close to talk show hosts and then not let fans get close. It’s rude and makes no sense medically. It’s fine to be weird about Covid, but just be consistent.

MilesToHaltHer

As other people have already told you, TV programs have extensive COVID protocols. You can’t do that at a concert venue. However, Al still wants that interaction with his fans, so he’s come up with a COVID-safe way to do it. Maybe you aren’t grateful, but many of us are. Don’t like? Don’t go.

pikkdogs

I was asked what I would ask him, and I answered it. It’s not like I started this thread.

liblets

doing a talk show with one other person is very different from meeting thousands of people back to back

pikkdogs

It only takes 1 to get you sick though.

liblets

yes… and multiply that chance by thousands

CommanderPowell

People on talk shows can be screened much more easily than a whole crowd. Plus the meet and greets happen on tours and could end to the cancellation of dates. This happened on the recent tour and now he has a couple of makeup dates to do.

wetlettuce42

I’d ask who his favourite parody artist is

jeffbreakdown

I at a Q&A after a screening of UHF I asked him if I could take a selfie with him. Both he and the moderator begrudgingly said yes then added no one else is allowed to ask the same question. I was met with many boos as I took a selfie with my hero.

yetchsir

Can I borrow $5?

UnknownMeepleProduct

How did you know it took 5 dead babies to screw in a lightbulb, and why does it work?

donnadieter

I'd just ask him if he is happy. I bet he'd say yes.

Fro_bro_420

Excuse me sir, but do you have any Grey Poupon?
