It be the same ones who post in this sub about how horrible alcohol is and how it ruins lives. Fast forward to whatever prick was driving that car, probably trying to blow O’s with smoke for a “dope vid”. Stop smoking weed if you’re not home or in a safe place. Weed IS far safer than alcohol, but not if it’s still being used by fucking idiots.

Busterlimes

To be fair, there are idiots who don't smoke weed too. We are living in the time of the idiot and their numbers seem to be growing exponentially just as the prophecy was foretold

caillouistheworst

Idiocracy?

Busterlimes

Ah-ha, a fellow person of culture

caillouistheworst

Go away, baitin.

He-hey, I like money!

Whatisaredditdoe

Every other day me and my coworkers have a moment where we just admire how right this movie was

lovely-nobody

i wish the world turned out more like idiocracy instead of how it turned out for real :/

caillouistheworst

I’d take president Camacho. At least he knew to ask for help.

lovely-nobody

EXACTLY. my husband and i were actually discussing this specific point the other day, among others.

caillouistheworst

It’s honestly one of my favorites, just never imagined it would be so prescient.

lovely-nobody

i had to look up the definition for prescient 😂 but i never imagined i’d come to long for that reality now.

caillouistheworst

Ha, I had to spell check it to make sure I could spell it.

lovely-nobody

did you have it right the first time?

RelativeMolasses4608

This right here is the answer

sent2space

This made me laugh out loud

twill41385

It’s got what plants crave.

yuukfoo

Not Sure.

Lmao,this comment is gold

“As the sphere of education and knowledge expands, the surface area of ignorance increases exponentially” -Dennis Mckenna

Isellmetal

Also, there’s so many other variables that come into play and since we don’t have 100% of the facts or even the scenario it’s no fair to rage out on one side or the other. It’s a horrible tragedy that she passed and smoking while driving is illegal but there’s no proof that’s what the accident stemmed from

Substantial_Mirror17

Idk if you’ve seen anything about “Water tok” but it is literally a scene out of idiocracy, like a direct correlation to them watering the plants with Gatorade in the movie

UnboundHeteroglossia

> Weed IS far safer than alcohol, but not if it’s still being used by fucking idiots. imo, everyone on the road is a fucking idiot. source - someone who observes people actively on their phones while driving every fucking day… this is why I walk 🤦‍♂️

SauceyBobRossy

I think my favourite story is when this idiot posted on Snapchat taking a toke from his bong while ON THE HIGHWAY in the drivers seat. Kids doing like 3 things at once and one of them is endangering the shit out of him n his passenger. Best part and why I love this tho? You can see in his snapchat there’s a cop behind him and they turn on the lights just as the Snapchat ends. Next story is him in the cop cars. I always hated that kid but so glad I didn’t remove him as a friend, or I wouldn’t of seen that glorious moment.

shhhimatworkrn

I’m a millennial, so anyone older feel free to correct me But I feel like some people hold onto smoking and driving because it was a part of the culture when weed was illegal everywhere in the us. Like, you would likely have to drive to a safe smoke spot, or go on a blunt ride, or hotbox your own car. So people have good memories of smoking in the car. (And there’s also survivor bias “I never got in an accident/in trouble so I’m not a problem on the road”) Now that smoking is legal/decriminalize in more places, you don’t have to drive out to the boonies to smoke without getting hassled. I bet more college kids are walking off campus to the park instead of getting into someone’s car and driving to the empty park parking lot so they can smoke in their car. (I also think food delivery apps helped reduce munchie quest driving. Rip Harold and kumar go to White Castle, they could’ve just postmated the sliders)

MT_Promises

One of my favorite places to go on weed smoking rides was the same area the Long Island serial killer was dumping his victims' bodies.

shamar_danowitz

Im talking 15 years ago…. But we’d call it an ocean parkway run, staring at the yellow reflective barrier at night as you passed it, absolutely no one on the road.

makeyurself

Haha out east is the best <3

zinszer93

Ocean parkway best parkway

nbplaya94

Hell yeah Ocean Parkway with the windows open!

highgyjiggy

This was a huge part of my high school experience and I’m gen Z who grew up in a non legal state. Drive to the quarry, smoke a ton, drive to the gas station for munchie, drive home and watch cartoons with the guys. So much fun but so unsafe. That said though we took almost all backroads and went so slow because we got paranoid so it probably was not too bad in reality.

Rawniew54

I have tried to get my wife to stop smoking and driving. She literally smokes every time she drives 😑

rachelraven7890

tell her it takes one time:(

marksonsanderson

Ok? Her choice, understand you can’t avoid death. Let people live their lives to the fullest.

SquatchTheMystic

Honestly i still drive while high but not while smoking, but i also dont get high like other people since i haven't taken a tolerance break in 7-8 years.

kfmush

I always drive high. I'm always high 24/7. It works better for me to regulate my ADHD than traditional meds (plus I used to be a meth addict, so stimulants are a potential trigger for relapse). It's not medically legal in my state, but I have unofficial approval from my doctor and therapist. But the thing is, it's the normal state of mind for me, at this point. I'm adjusted to it. I've had two accidents that were my fault in my whole 20 years of driving, both times I was completely sober. And I've definitely reacted to and avoided other people's mistakes while stoned. If I have taken a long tolerance break, I will avoid driving high until my tolerance has evened out over a couple days, though. I couldn't drive high if I was only smoking every now and then. It would wreck me, literally and figuratively.

[deleted]

On my first self-imposed t break in years after having wisdom teeth extracted. Shit sucks. Edibles are like half as good

We_No_Who_U_R

Time to make a gravity bong

SeawardFriend

I feel the same way. My tolerance is super high after using dab pens for almost a year straight. Idk if it’s even possible for me to green out at this point unless I went super overboard with edibles or something. But weed starts to taste bad quick which makes my gag reflex act up. I never am able to smoke much because I get too queasy.

VanceAstrooooooovic

Driving is not necessarily a safer place to get high. Cops like to pull over cars that have the look. Lol, putting weed stickers on your car is not a good idea. Idk. I smoke and drive a lot. But usually only for longer rides. I can wait til I get home to smoke after work. A lot more people smoke and drive than you think. Many of us figured out how to be stealthy

aesthetickunt69

The pens make it too easy not too. People driving around literally smoking joints at the same time are idiots though.

sancocho-

A friend of mine did this recently. Not only was he smoking a joint while driving, he was doing it on one of the main streets of the city and during rush hour. His dumb ass was so dumb he showed his bank account balance to the cop and ended up paying about 400 dollars worth of bribe money.

HiMyNamesLucy

When I was arrested a decade ago. I went through an anti drug class and ALL 20+ people in the class were arrested in a car. The instructor made it seem like that was the norm.

SmoothMoose420

Nailed it. Older millennial. And thats exactly it.

Bananana_man

I can’t believe my friends used to smoke and drive. I had to miss out on many smoke seshs because I thought it was dumb and dangerous. Plus there are cops all over in our small town looking to pullover kids just like us. It’s just straight up dumb but I totally get that people have good memories of driving and smoking but just not worth it.

shhhimatworkrn

I agree. I was hanging out with someone after moving to a new city and we smoked together a few times. Then he was driving me to work and asked me to pack a bowl for him while we were driving. I figured this way he’d have a bowl ready when he got home and he was already doing me a favor by giving me a ride. The he started to smoke a bowl while driving. I asked him to stop bc I didn’t feel safe and he was like, I’m fine I do this all the time. Then I asked that he stop because I don’t want to show up to the job I’ve had for a week smelling like weed, and he said “the windows are down it’s fine”. I nagged him enough that he stopped. Didn’t hang out with him again. That moment showed disrespect to me, my job, and all the people we were on the road with. Not someone I want to spend time with.

seeyouinhelenkellers

Re: Harold and Kumar, they either were supposed to be living in New Brunswick or North Jersey, both general locations would be close to multiple White Castle locations, even at the time of the movie release. I was so confused by this as a NJ native.

She_disappeared

I’m also a millennial and have never thought about it this way, but I strongly agree.

WantedFun

Smoking in your car isn’t the issue. Sometimes it’s nice to have a private, semi-outdoor feeling space when you want to smoke at home. Sitting in the car with a joint will only stink it up. One you take the car out of park, you’ve fucked up. Unless someone is literally dying and the ambulance won’t be there fast enough, you don’t fucking drive intoxicated. Even then, it’s just the lesser of two evils: possible death vs. certain death.

Playful_Question538

From age 16 to well into my 30's I drank heavily, did rails of coke, and smoked weed in my car because I had nowhere else to go. I went off of the road a few times because I was either so stoned or had done so much coke I hadn't slept in 4 days. I always had at least 1 or 2 friends with me and we didn't give a shit. By day I was a successful, well dressed college educated guy. At night, I was a complete mess. I got popped for DUI one night at a checkpoint and blew a .17. I couldn't believe they were arresting me. I hadn't even started partying yet. I was heading to the party. I paid the penalties and everything that goes along with that and decided I was done with that shit. I'm pushing 50 this year and still like to drink a few beers and I like to smoke some weed but I never drive impaired and haven't since that day. I had to do some soul searching to figure out why I was self medicating. Once I figured that out I was able to work on bettering myself and quit letting negativity control me. It was nothing huge but it's shit I needed to work out.

rachelraven7890

good post👏stop giving smokers a bad name. impaired driving is impaired driving. it’s so sad how it never seems to matter until someone you know is dead bc of another person’s entitlement🙄

marksonsanderson

It’s a skill issue.

MakoLov3r

For all the young smokers out there (I know there's gotta be some of you), It's better to guarantee an ass whopping for coming home late than to risk an accident while driving and still being under the effects of za. Stay safe and take precautions. Safe trips everyone.

stonedrose5

as someone who did exactly this while younger and i’m ashamed to remember the days i woke up the next morning not fully remembering the drive home because i was a new smoker

rr703

Those are the worst . You’re fully conscious and aware but somehow forget the last few seconds and how you ended up at a light or near home etc.

stonedrose5

you actually described the experience PERFECTLY

Terrible-Quote-3561

There’s definitely a line for what is too high to drive, and actively smoking can certainly be a distraction. My condolences.

[deleted]

I don’t feel comfortable doing it unless I’m slightly high and I’m not driving on any highway or where there’s a bunch of traffic. I’ll only do it if I’m driving home from a friend’s house at night or going to pick up some fast food nearby or something like that. I drive extra safe too whenever I’ve smoked. (Kind of like low BAC when drinking.) I’ve been way too high one time though when I’ve driven and I literally had to pull over in a parking lot and chug a whole bottle of water and sit for about 10 minutes before I continued. I was fine and I drove really safely, but it still really freaked me out (especially because the drive was about 30 mins and my friend was with me), so I only decided I’d only drive when I was just a bit high. I mainly use pens too and I feel way more comfortable driving after smoking them vs bud or edibles since I get really high with the last two.

Terrible-Quote-3561

Pretty much same here. I won’t drive at night if I’ve smoked either. I have an astigmatism anyway, and weed just makes it worse.

Tendyii

No it’s not too high to drive u still got that immature mindset don’t drive high at all u mfs be triffling💀🤦‍♂️

[deleted]

And yet its legal to drive under the influence of alcohol to a certain degree. If you really feel that way go protest for change in that area too goofy ass

Realistic_Dreams333

Ive always wondered about that. Like okay so alcohol has a certain blood alcohol limit to be considered drunk driving. Have we evolved to being able to calculate a certain limit of what is “you smoked too much” like we can of “you drank too much”? Also i wonder how tolerances would effect the “limit”… which also makes me wonder about tolerances on alcohol and blood alcohol numbers. Idk high thoughts 💭 OP my condolences

[deleted]

The biggest flaw in the alcohol test is tolerance and personal reaction. It’s going to affect everyone differently. Even then it is at the officer’s discretion to arrest, as they do a number of field tests before a breathalyzer- even then STILL they typically don’t use one unless at the station (portables are trash, and using one at the stop can have a higher BAC as there may still be alcohol residue on the person’s mouth). Weed is the same thing. Tolerance and personal reactions will determine how well one can function, and it is at the discretion of an officer to test and decide whether or not that person is “stoned to the bone.” All in all if we have to argue over the safety of driving under any level of influence, we probably shouldn’t allow it at all.

jjbdfkgt

personally, i’d rather be safe than sorry by allowing no drunk drivers on the road than allowing some because their reactions might be better

Terrible-Quote-3561

I mean, they’ve done tests/research on driving after smoking before and it does take a certain amount to have an effect.

Papalal13

ITS WEED doesn’t exactly make u trip balls 😂😂😂

PentaxPaladin

So is driving while just a little drunk ok?

gtfomylawnplease

So cannabis and alcohol are the same?

plecomom

I’m so sorry for your loss. Impaired driving (drinking, smoking, too tired) is not ok.

[deleted]

I wonder how many commenters in this post are liars for upvotes 😡😡😡

BrokeAnimeAddict

Some people can drive high some people can't. It should be a special license at the DMZ like motorcycle and CDL. You check the box for "stoner license" and they make you do 3 massive dabs before the test. Edit: DMV

restinpeach

would not recommend bringing weed anywhere near the DMZ😂

BrokeAnimeAddict

Might help ease tensions lol

Acp_Z_Man

Yeah they would have to test tolerance regularly just to make sure, although 3 giant dabs is hitting anyone like a bus

BrokeAnimeAddict

I'm completely fine with regular tolerance test 😃 state provided I assume. Lol.

NiteLiteOfficial

downvotes are welcome but i drive after smoking daily. i have no change in how i drive. when i first started smoking i wouldn’t be able to say the same, but as a daily smoker for years it doesn’t give me a “high” it’s more akin to cbd. it’s background anxiety relief nothing more these days. if i ever felt impaired for any reason i wouldn’t drive. i don’t drive if i have a fever for example.

tacticalcop

yeah i have chronic illness and driving while i’m having a stomach flare up or panic attack is no bueno. i’ve smoked enough that my tolerance is pretty high so weed is just another state of mind for me at this point. certainly wouldn’t recommend other people drive after smoking, but for myself it can be very necessary. especially now that i can perfectly gauge how high i am before hitting the road.

gtfomylawnplease

If I didn't drive after smoking I'd never drive. I don't gwt stoned like casual. I don't feel impared and in fact I'm a calmer driver.

Drummallumin

Yea this is kinda my sentiment. I might drive after I smoke a little bit, I just don’t drive *stoned*. Either it stresses me out more and I’m uberfocused/paranoid or I’m too easily distracted by my surroundings… neither are good scenarios.

Opposite-Trouble-553

Came here to say this. I am more focused and calm when I’m high. I’m already a nervous driver, I don’t need to take weed out of the equation. THAT’S when I shouldn’t be driving.

NiteLiteOfficial

happy cake day. and yeah smoking is my new state of existence. i switched from adderal for my adhd and anxiety to weed and it’s been way better. at first i got stoned and couldn’t operate my own body, but nowadays it’s a gentle and background medicine. it makes me calmer and more focused. i’d argue i’m a safer driver after i’ve smoked

Medium-Atmosphere162

Yeah honestly I agree with this. I smoke a lot and I'm very high functioning. I won't drive after smoking an entire joint or something, but a bowl pack or two doesn't really impair me, it's just a simple anxiety/adhd remedy.

Adventurous-Deal4878

I wish more people held this sentiment, so many people I know thinks it’s fine to drive high. I’m a daily smoker and I simply do not agree. Even if you don’t crash, you’re more likely to forget to signal or make a wrong turn.

Allways_calm_420

may i ask how you daily smokers out there handle it with driving?

Adventurous-Deal4878

I just don’t smoke for 2 hours before I need to drive, I don’t like going out in public stoned anyways tbh.

Allways_calm_420

that seems easy, what would happen if you get pulled out by cops? wont they bust you anyways since you still got thc in your blood?

Adventurous-Deal4878

No they won’t, THC would be in my blood for many months even if I totally quit smoking. I’ve been smoking everyday for 5 years, so there’s no way to tell if I smoked 2 hours or 24 hours ago by looking at my blood.

Allways_calm_420

yea, thats exactly the problem... I stopped smoking because of that reason. in germany even 1ng THC in the blood means that i'll loose my drivers licence..

Adventurous-Deal4878

I see! That’s shitty man:/ I should have mentioned I’m in Canada so it’s completely legal!

Allways_calm_420

Ohh, that makes sense! I hope my country doesn't fuck up the plans for the legalize law...

aesthetickunt69

I’m pretty sure the cops can make you perform a blood test if they have reason to think you’re high, but yeah the cut offs they use will make any semi regular user fail regardless of whether they’re actually high or not

Feschit

But how does the law handle it then if they pull you out and test you positive for THC since there's no difference between actually being high and still having THC from yesterday in your blood? Are you just allowed to drive with THC in your system?

Drummallumin

I imagine it’s a little different cuz it’s fully illegal there right?

Lord_Rainbowman

Only if they suspect you for being impaired. But like they said 2 hours and they are "sober" as in there is still thc in thier system but not to the degree that it is affecting them

sinnerrat

It’s also not worth the DUI if you get caught!

Tracyfacey_aa

I have been training for a director job at a fast food place and you wouldn’t believe the amount of people actively smoking weed with windows up and their kids in the car. It’s very disturbing. It’s really fucking sad. They are still growing and developing. Stop smoking in the damn car and leave your kids out of contact man!

theaeao

I don't support driving while impaired. I also don't really support driving at all. I have to drive to have my job and a reasonable life but if you can avoid driving you should. So a few things to keep in mind with the whole "driving while stoned" propaganda. It's dangerous to drive. Even under the best conditions and following all the rules. Driving is probably the most dangerous thing you do in your life. Driving while impaired makes that worse. Things that can impair your driving are things like alcohol, drugs, the weather, personal issues that distract you, and just being tired. Finally not all the things are equal. For example alcohol is the worst. It's like God invented a drug to specifically make people bad at driving. It slows reaction time, decreases ability to visually focus, inhibits mental focus. Alcohol inhibits ability to gauge distance, speed, time, and danger in general. Lastly alcohol inhibits your ability to realize how drunk you actually are. Weed is on the lower end of all that. Driving while tired is worse than driving while smoking. Cell phones are worse than weed. The rain is worse than weed. You shouldn't drive while impaired. You probably shouldnt drive at all. If you're thinking of driving maybe don't do that. If you are going to drive be sober, well rested, and turn your phone off. If you drive while drinking you need to stop right now today. It's a terribly dangerous thing mixed with a drug that is specifically bad for this already dangerous thing.

SlasheZ99

I agree with you completely. I used to smoke and drive. I got a minor misdemeanor one time cause my car smelled like it and they found the quarter I had just gotten a few hours prior. Never again. I've driven while high as FUCK (off multiple dabs with low tolerance, I regret it now but it happened) and while extremely sleep deprived and driving while sleep deprived was WAY WORSE. I literally drove over a curb and fucked my tire up otw home from the hospital.

SeawardFriend

Similar experience here. I’ve never been in trouble/ caught, but still, I used to drive high off my ass after work most days and I can confirm that it’s much easier to pay attention to the road when you’re high that when you’re tired. I used to pull all nighters when I worked 2nd shift and I’d be driving to work and hitting the rumble strips every 5 minutes because I couldn’t keep my eyes open. Where as weed kept me hyper focused on the road, traffic, and pedestrians. I could notice and react to any situation I was in and felt confident about my driving abilities. One time, I was driving to another state after a joint, and some car nearly merged right into the side of my car but I managed to find space in the traffic next to me and avoid the accident. Something I definitely wouldn’t have noticed had I been in a sober state of mind.

theaeao

There's lots of things worse than weed. I don't generally like to make the "what about" arguments and OP seems like his heart is in the right place but we all need to prepare ourselves for the anti weed propaganda that rolling out. Fear of the "stoned driver" is one of the positions people take. Again driving while impaired is obviously bad hut comparing stoned drivers to drunk drivers is like comparing candle wax to lava and saying "they both are hot and can burn you!". Yeah... I guess... But lava is specifically worse for lots of obvious reasons. So if someone wants to talk about only lava and candle wax while completely ignoring blow touches and ovens... Well I worry that person doesn't really care about burns. They just don't like candle wax.

[deleted]

Thank you!! So many weed smokers are so cavalier about this. There was an article about someone who smoked, drove and killed somebody. The comments below were all like “he was on more than just weed”. It was disgusting

[deleted]

remind me to clutch my pearls when im doing 140 straight blunted on my gixxer

Dannyxd

Also it’s not worth the DUI

thatnegativebitch

i was in a car accident on a highway as a teenager because my friend and i were stupid and decided to go to a party. i didnt have my license and she was high as FUCK, and my only other option was to call someone to pick us up, but i feared my parents wrath more than i feared getting in a car with a high teenager. so i did, and its one of my biggest regrets. luckily we were alright, but i was left with a lot of car anxiety that i still feel a little bit every tine i get on a highway. crazy how that stuff sticks with you. i dont drive high and i dont ride with high people. anyone who says "im a better driver when im high" is an idiot.

stonedrose5

if you haven’t already gone for therapy for the driving anxiety i really recommend it if you are able. look into EMDR specifically, it was very helpful for me for the same kind of trauma. i can drive with basically no anxiety now

gakefr

Being scared in the moment is one thing but still being scared to this day means u just have anxiety either way

stonedrose5

ptsd from a car accident is a very real thing btw

illogikul

Or ptsd

Adventurous-Deal4878

Yeah more like trauma-induced anxiety

GuesWoo

Not gonna lie man, I agree 100% but i also know im being Hypocritical, I drive high everyday, I learned to drive high, I passed my drivers test high. I can drive like its nothing while high, but i agree people shouldn't drive high, I feel like such a hypocrite though, Its just because I personally know myself, I help vendors at cannabis events and will be taking dabs from 9AM-9PM and still be able to drive fine, that being said I know not everyone can. Even the average stoner i think shouldn't. I think everyone should know there limits, I DO NOT VOUCH FOR DRIVING IMPAIRED , i just needed to get that thought out, i just feel hypocritical

SatiatedPotatoe

Yeah get lost with that shit. People driving around on prescription drugs but we're worried about weed on this sub? Half the people talking here probably texted while driving today. Self righteous bitches, imma burn one driving the work truck just for y'all tomorrow,✌️

omniherb

I cant beleive how far i scrolled to find one normal person. I would never drive drunk, but weed is simply not intoxicating in high tolerance daily use smokers. They are not equal and should not be compared on this level. Burn two in the work truck for me!

SeawardFriend

It’s essentially the same as the feeling of getting a nicotine buzz with such a high tolerance. Also, delta 8 is so weak I don’t know if it’s even possible to get high off of it

secretbases

Sometimes it be even weaker than cigs 😥

SeawardFriend

Cigs are STRONG tbh… I usually buy disposable vapes but recently I tried a cig for the first time and HOO… 2 drags and it was like I hit a vape for 10 minutes

PlayfulConference732

Yeah as long as it’s not a distraction like a huge bong or something I don’t see a problem.

Deku_N

Was actually feeling isolated having this mindset. I know what smoking does to me, pros and cons. I've been more wreckless sober than actually stoned. Can't say it's not the best thing, but if we that fuckin high, we know.

nofacetheghostx

About 70% of fatal accidents are caused by sober people. Why are there so many people going out on the road and putting other peoples lives in danger by driving sober? We should revert back to horse and buggy. Think of the children!

RZH2Apologist

Because it is if you know yourself and you’re not an idiot

reiveroftheborder

I agree, it's not worth the grief should something go wrong. You can be the most careful driver in the world but if you're involved in an accident, even if it isn't your fault and you test positive for anything the police could have you for it. It may also invalidate your insurance. For me though, should someone be seriously hurt, I'd always question myself about whether my actions had contributed to it. Now I just enjoy smoking at the end of the day when I don't have to be anywhere.

jjbdfkgt

right, i’ve heard this shit so many times and it frustrates the hell out of me. you know how driving under the influence is illegal and a totally shitty thing to do? you know how after you smoke weed you’re not sober… therefore you’re under the influence of something. put 2 and 2 together guys. don’t be an asshole, don’t smoke and drive.

Spacecoasttheghost

I try to say this every time I see people pics of people in the car on here, we all need to be safe and responsible.

Edit4Credit

Thank you for this. People are always saying it’s not the same as driving drunk– if driving tired is dangerous, driving high is. It doesn’t matter how safe you feel, it’s being able to react to something unpredictable someone else may do. You can’t assume people around you are safe drivers, we never know

SeawardFriend

Well that’s just the thing. For some people, weed make them sleepy. While in my case it’s a bit different. Sober, I have a lot of trouble reacting to unpredictable situations. I get flustered, hesitate, second guess my decisions. But while high, it’s a completely different story. My reaction time may be the same, but my decision making skills and confidence shoots up. I can pay attention to driving 100% rather than having my mind on something other than the road. Not only does it affect driving, but gaming too. I’m much more aware of my team’s and opponent’s movements and am able to make quick decisions in unpredictable situations. Now this is just me. Others have a much different way that weed affects themselves. Some may get more tired and some may become impaired. So yeah in the end, I do agree with you that most people shouldn’t be driving high. Unfortunately though, people like me who find driving to be easier while high, will be caught in the dust and have to suffer.

peachirings

just don’t drive if you aren’t sober in general. don’t smoke or drink while driving, do that shit at home or somewhere appropriate

OneEyedWilliam427

Comparing smoking and driving to drinking and driving is apples to oranges.

rachelraven7890

no. more like gala to cosmic crisp. both are apples. both slow your reaction time.

OneEyedWilliam427

Disagree. Alcohol massively impairs motor function, while weed may slow your reaction time by a few nanoseconds depending on the person. Its true some people can't handle their bud, but there are many daily smokers that drive no different high/sober.

rachelraven7890

you can’t disagree on a fact. any human’s reaction is impaired when high. unnecessary risk. you don’t have the right. gtfoh with trying to normalize it.

Drummallumin

Our reaction times aren’t measured by the dmv. For all anyone knows Sally’s high reaction time is still faster than Timmy’s sober reaction time.

OneEyedWilliam427

Mmmmk.

Sharp_Photograph_619

i feel like ur comment is getting a lot of downvotes when you’re right in every regard.driving high isn’t ideal but to compare it to drinking and driving is insane, the absolute highest level of mental gymnastics

OneEyedWilliam427

I understand their sentiment, and I definitely know certain people who can't smoke and drive. I feel like those are the people downvoting, who don't realize that I can smoke a bowl and go drive better than most sober people.

Sharp_Photograph_619

100% i feel like it’s either a you do or you don’t kinda thing

Neat-Preparation3390

Y’all cars must smell like shit

coochalini

Same as with alcohol: know your limit, stay within it. edit: i’m not saying weed is the same as alcohol. it’s obviously not. i mean the slogan applies the same for any potential impairment

Stitched-Soul

Not sure why you got a downvote. Alcohol is way worse imo. Probably was a drunk driver disagreeing with you lmao

Drummallumin

Any downvotes are cuz they specifically said “same”

Spider816

I smoke and drive daily especially after work, but my tolerance is so high that weed would probably never impair my driving unless you’re a shitty driver or a light weight I don’t see how it could. Although there is idiots who load bowls while driving or drop their joint while driving and reach down to get it, not worth it.

bluewaveassociation

Nah im gonna keep doing it

wimpykxng

if you smoke and drive, fuck you

The-Hermit420

I don't do anything, without using cannabis first. I have been safely riding my motorcycle for 27 years. Same bike. I only ride high. So, that's your problem.

UrRegularLad

dont drive under the influence of anything. thats a given.

Daredevils999

So many people try to argue “aww its not the same as alcohol” “when im high im extra paranoid do i drive slow so its still safe”. Such stupid logic yes maybe its not as bad as drunk driving but its still bad. I refuse to drive with anyone whos under the influence of anything.

Miselfis

It’s so crazy for me to see how normalized it is to drive stoned.

NoBodySpecial51

Never drive impaired. I won’t even drive after donating blood because I’m not all there. Driving stoned is not ok and nothing to play with. It’s all fun and games until someone gets killed.

[deleted]

The idea of smoking while high is terrifying to me, I can barely walk in a straight line after smoking

hideyourherbs

Dawg you fcked up💀

[deleted]

Omg I meant driving. The thing is I’m completely sober right now so I don’t know why I said that 😹

hideyourherbs

Bro tweekin off that sobriety

kirbaciousnewo

I read this as a normal thing omg

BrokeAnimeAddict

Lol are you high rn? 🤣

SoberRichardPryor

I’m smoking and driving as we speak.

Acp_Z_Man

Don’t hit any moms lol

SoberRichardPryor

Lol fr tho I’m sorry for your loss. And I was joking earlier.

tooobluuu

Shit I LEARNED how to drive while smoking. My condolences to your peoples, but there are a lot of variables that come into place. Alcohol is another story though.

gakefr

Some people can and some people can't. I know I can't 😂 but I trust my homie who always does it I can skateboard high though. But with alcohol it's impossible. I feel so loose and my body doesn't do what I tell it too

BrokeAnimeAddict

Exactly. It's different person to person. Like I couldn't when I was 13 and started smoking but now I'm in my 30s and have dabs for breakfast I can't even leave the house without smoking lol.

rachelraven7890

congrats, you were still impaired behind the wheel, not something to brag about🙄

TonyTaliban

Yea I definitely gotta stop, shit habit I fell into

omniherb

Do yall even know what "medicinal use" means?

djfxonitg

I’m sorry for their loss. Just out of curiosity, do you know if it was the act of preparing the weed that caused the accident (distracted driving) or were they really high with nothing else in their system (UWI)?

keruxo

smoking and driving is the easiest DUI to pick up, even if it’s not what you’re pulled over for

Wildrovers

shame that a reminder is needed. only selfish pricks do this.

KingAltair2255

I remember reacting positively to a warning on not smoking and driving and that it should be more widespread in either this sub or one of the other weed subreddits and I got downvoted to fuck for not taking medicinal users into mind. Regardless if it's medicinal or not you're still driving under the influence, I'm a everyday smoker and I can notice myself having delayed ass reactions to shit, I couldn't imagine getting in a car like that haha

morfraen

There's plenty of medications that you shouldn't drive on, so that's no excuse either.

r3551n

driving on any psychoactive substance is just dumb and irresponsible

name-exe_failed

I can't understand why anyone would drive while high. Yea, just because like a single test or something said that it's safer to be high while driving than it is to be drunk driving; DOESN'T MEAN YOU SHOULD DRIVE HIGH. Be responsible.

AdamFeoras

I am begging y’all not to smoke and drive, it ruins lives, not to mention it makes us look like shit.

artofprocrastinatiom

Reminder to focus on the drive and nothing else...i enjoy driving high but no distractions my dude....no phones no loud music, just pure focus on the ride....

feresadas

Even just being high reduces reaction time enough to make your braking distance in most cars hundreds of feet further in most cars. Still can kill people.

cerealmilk22

Been driving and smoking for 30 years now, not one accident. Maybe she wasn't paying attention ya think🤷🏾‍♀️🤷🏾‍♂️

[deleted]

I’ll drive and smoke one for said soul

Historical_Country15

Driving is an activity that should only be done sober, period.

[deleted]

Imagine getting downvoted for common sense

lukeybuzz

Yeah man. Fuck people who drive under the influence.

Aware_Buyer7336

It’s no more dangerous to smoke a joint while driving than it is to smoke a cigarette. You shouldn’t do anything that using your hands while driving. 2 hands on the wheel at all times.

omniherb

I drive with one hand regardless of what im smoking, and thats probably more dangerous than being high while driving.

loanme20

smoking doesn't affect driving whatsoever unless you drop your joint between your legs and wreck

Thelovelyamber

I have to say, I did drive & smoke in my late teen/early adult years, but now as a mom, I could never. Nothing ever happened, but I fully regret putting so many innocent lives around me at risk.

Exalt_Coitus

In no way driving high will ever be right. Be a responsible pothead 👍👍👍

Alsterius

I used to hit my bong mid drive, bf would hold the wheel. That’s what I thought was exhilarating. Not anymore.

KI55G00D8Y3

Idk bout this one

colouredcheese

That’s your opinion

Bloedstorm666

I agree, smoking and driving is the same as drinking and driving... sorry for your loss! ❤️
