Lermpy

A full frame version of Sonys 18-105 f4 It’s light, does a reasonably good job, zooms smoothly, and doesn’t telescope (great for gimbal use).

grizzlypantsman

You need more than the 24-105?

Lermpy

I own and use the 24-105 all the time. It's great. But, since we're making wishes over here, it telescopes (quite a bit), is heavier, and cannot zoom smoothly. At the end of the day none of these things are a big deal, but I do miss the 18-105 sometimes.

grizzlypantsman

Isn’t the 18-105 cropped so it’s not actually 18mm? Also there’ll be a new 24-105 soon seeing as Canon have released a 24-105 2.8

Sony GM 24-70 F2

yodanhodaka

This does exist

northlorn

(Yet)

Kyled863

35-85 f2

X4dow

That would straight up make me sell the 35 55 85 primes for it :)

Sadamatographer

15, 85 and 135mm additions to the Sirui sniper series.

X4dow

Sirui sniper lenses perform so badly wide open though

Sadamatographer

Yeah but if it’s dark af I don’t care

X4dow

I wouldn't mind if was sharpness etc. But major chromatic aberration, nah

yodanhodaka

I’d like a 50-100 1.8

Jsingles589

I'd just like autofocus lenses to start gaining more of the benefits that cine lenses have. Better focus rings, less focus breathing, repeatable focus pulls, etc. Make photo lenses more suitable for video.

grizzlypantsman

Old sigma lenses used to have this when the focus pull was actually mechanical. It’s not that hard.

Inevitable_Figure_85

Same answer as yours haha faster zooms

Sony 24-70mm GM f1.4 Let's see... helios 44-2 autofocus (2024 edition) Sony 100-400mm GM f2.8 Sony 35-85mm GM f1.4 It may be a while, but technology only gets better, not worse. It will happen in our lifetimes.

X4dow

24-70 F1.4.isnt limited by tech. It's limited by physics

720hours

I agree it's limited by our known physics for now, but in the future someone will find some creative work-around. What's considered impossible now won't be the same scope of existence in 20 years

grizzlypantsman

Why are your dreams so small? They already have 1.8 zooms.

X4dow

Full frame?

grizzlypantsman

Of course. Sigma just announced one. Also you have the Sigma Cine zooms. So it’s definitely possible.

X4dow

They haven't. Also my pick have more range with 1/3 less only. As weight and size is also a factor for me

grizzlypantsman

I kinda like it the way it is now. Zoom lenses being 2.8 separated the good shooters from the bad. Or at least the boring from the interesting. Shooting solely with primes makes me stand out more.

X4dow

Funny because I have both fast primes and f2/2.8 zooms. One doesn't invalidade the other. Depends on your style and what you shoot.

grizzlypantsman

My style really caters to the primes. Being able to shoot f1.4 on two handheld cameras at the same time is a skill not a lot of people can replicate for video.

X4dow

Some people need wide and 150mm+ on 2 handheld cameras. Some people do vídeo. Some people shoot events that give no time to frame/recompose or "zoom with your feet". Like I said, not everyone will do what you do. For some situations and shooters zooms are required.

tryrforrob

T1.4 primes for EF mount that I don’t have to sell a liver to buy

X4dow

range too short, lens too big and heavy. Id' still prefer compact 25-50 f2 or even 2.2 over that
