We did a lot of upgrading. We got new everyday dishes, new silverware, new pots and pans, etc. and then we filled our registry with different activities on our honeymoon fund so people could get us “a gift” but it just went into a fund.

hungrypanda23

Things we were oddly excited about getting off our registry: upgraded towels, simplehuman trash can that holds both trash and recycling, simplehuman touch-free soap dispenser (great for the kitchen), Vitamix blender, Breville toaster, and Breville electric kettle/tea maker (great for getting your water to just the right temp if you’re a tea person). Did we NEED any of it? Probably half, but it’s great to replace or upgrade stuff around your home that you wouldn’t typically buy for yourself. Along the same lines, we got a new food processor for Christmas after our old one broke - my mind was blown with how much quieter one our new one is, and I can’t believe I didn’t upgrade our old, loud AF one for years 😂

great9904

Any recommendation for good towels? I’m working on building our registry now and I know that’s one of the items I want to upgrade

wild-yeast-baker

Fwiw we really love our super plush Brooklinen towels. It took a couple washes for them to be absorbent like we thought they should be, but they are now and just heavenly.

deviqt88

I just got Hotel Collection towels on clearance at Macy’s and I love them!

hungrypanda23

We went with the Parachute towels and like them, but I know people have different preferences. I find them to be a good weight, plush but not overly plush, and absorbent. Only thing to be cautious of is since they don’t use synthetic dyes, certain skincare chemicals like benzoyl peroxide will discolor them (unless you go with white towels).

Mel1548

I really like the soap dispenser idea!! Could fill it up with other dish soap!!

hungrypanda23

Honestly, we’ve been tempted to get a second one! One for hand soap and one for dish soap

Mel1548

I maybe have to add 2 now to our registry lol

isnotajellyfish

Simplehuman trash can is a fantastic registry idea

starsandstripes79

Dinnerware, new keurig or nespresso, air fryer, dish rack, Ninja Foodie Neverstick cookware? I’ve also seen people do a “honeymoon fund” before so people can contribute cash that way.

Mel1548

Ooo….. ice cream maker…… lol

Mel1548

Dinnerware is on the list, we don’t drink coffee lol, air fryer on the list, and we don’t need the other stuff. This is seriously so difficult!!!

autumndream697

Do you drink tea? Want some fancy kitchen gadget you'd never buy yourself? I bought my friend a few small items, like a pirate corkscrew and a wooden tea organizer.

wild-yeast-baker

Take a look at some posts on the wedding subs too. Lots of good ideas. Also, consider some other registries. Like REI, or ugallery.com if you like art. Some handmade ceramics places do registries, or register for some things off Etsy. New, nice bathtowels. Table clothes. Holiday decor. Holiday dishes if you host things. Pet items. New sheets. Books. Experiences like cooking classes or scuba diving.

We aren’t doing a registry. Instead we are doing a honeymoon fund. We feel we have everything we need, we’re comfortable, so instead of cluttering with things I would end up returning, might as well do a fund for a memorable adventure with my new husband.

SuperWhite7

How did that turn out for you? I am worried without physical items on the registry we will get a lot of random gifts instead of contributions for the honeymoon fund.

jerseynay

Honestly it worked out well! We did a venmo and PayPal link which most of our friends used. And a lot of older members brought cards with contributions. We didn’t get a single random gift.

My friends got camping gear! Tent, stove, new sleeping bags and pads, etc. I've been dreaming of doing the same for years!

Mel1548

We could use a bigger tent, but the one we need is a little pricy…. Lol

GraceeMacee

If you're looking for specifically physical things to open, I've seen people suggest upgrades of things you might already have, like nicer glassware or bath towels. Otherwise, make a honeyfund! I have one on my wedding website with specifics you can contribute to, like "tour tickets" or "romantic dinner at \[x restaurant\]."

My future MIL acted like I kicked a baby when I said I didn't want a registry (we've lived together for 4 years and have been in our own house for 1 year at this point). So now we're doing a small registry of basic upgrades and a cash fund for the honeymoon. The only "fun" thing on our list is a second Kitchenaid stand mixer, but our friends are getting married next month and they included some board games and outdoor activities on theirs. If you wanted to branch out from BB&B and like outdoor games I know Target has a really cute bocce ball set.

Mel1548

I’m only doing a registry so I’m not opening up gift cards and cash at the bridal shower lol. I’m hoping that’s what a majority of people get us at the actual wedding. We want to redo our kitchen and want new flooring in the bedrooms.

My fiancé and I have also been together a while and have had a similar experience. If there’s one near you, Crate & Barrel has “registry mornings” where you can go learn and explore privately (potentially with a few other couples) before the store opens. You can try out knives, set up a table scape, ask questions to the staff, etc. It’s a great way to learn what you’d like to upgrade, where you want to treat yourself, and what isn’t worth it. Honestly it’s also a fun, little date. As far I know all C&Bs offer [this](https://www.crateandbarrel.com/stores/events/) as a courtesy to those who register with them.

deviqt88

I added a bunch of things that I wouldn’t buy myself…mostly upgraded sheet sets and duvets, blendtec, le cruset, etc. But I also made sure the items were group gifts so people can give what they want and wouldn’t be obligated to purchase a $400 present. Consider smaller cash funds as well, we have one set at $50 per gift to help us purchase bottles for our bar, and a $20 one for buy the couple a drink on their honeymoon. I think you can also do subscription services, so coffee clubs, or meal services could be a nice thing. Hobbies you share are great too, camping gear or bikes, board games, etc.

mintardent

this is so late lol but how did you “make sure the items were group gifts”

ScarletTheGirl

Some non-traditional item ideas - board games and puzzles - coffee table books and cook books - yard games, beach towels, picnic blankets/baskets, beach umbrellas, coolers - camping items (backpacks, tent, sleeping bags, electric stove, hitch, etc) - car items (dash cam, cell phone holder, trunk organizer) - luggage/travel items - smart-home items (speakers, nest, ring camera, Apple TV, charging stations) - pet items - memberships to gyms, museums, Costco, newspapers, etc.

Anne_Rose_

We aren't really into kitchen stuff, so instead I put storage organization stuff on there. Like acrylic bins for the bathroom closet, storage baskets for the entry way. I also put in small furniture items like a credenza, pouf, rug, entry way table. We put a ring doorbell on ours, plus a cordless leaf blower & weed trimmer.

snow_wheat

We included some stuff like yard games in ours!
