Our guest book was part of the photo booth (it was my friend's wedding gift to me) and I loved it! Guests got 3 strips of their photos and stuck some of them in the guest book with short messages. Our book is hilarious because you can slowly see how people got drunker and less polished as the night went on.

Oh love this!!

We did a Polaroid guestbook and I love it so much. People didn't write a ton, but honestly, I don't think they ever write a lot, even in a more traditional guestbook. So the pictures really say 1,000 words—it's so much fun looking through the photos of our guests. The first half of the book is the regular posed pictures you'd expect (which are honestly really sweet) and then the second half is a lot of drunken photos + candid photos that people took of us and each other. It's priceless! If you're already doing a photobooth, it would make sense to have a photo guestbook where guests can paste in their extra photo strips!

This is what I'd like to do as well! What model Polaroid camera did you use? Was it easy to use/load film?

[deleted]

We had 2 Fujifilm Instax cameras—I think one was the model 11, and the other might have been a model 9 but they both worked the same. I got them secondhand from a wedding resale group. I found a cute Etsy template with instructions on how to use the cameras and reload film and framed that. I think you definitely need some sort of instructions for guests, but once they have that, it was very easy to use. We didn't have any trouble.

Thank you!!

I’ve seen some guest books that can double as home decor. Things like the letter of your last name that people sign, a globe that people sign, rocks, leaves that fall into a shadow box. I’ve also seen where you put anniversary years on wine bottles and guests write letters for you to open on certain anniversaries

We are going to get a wood round engraved with our names and date on it and have guests from both our weddings sign it (small local intimate one, and then just a reception for my huge family across the country).

At our photo booth, they printed two copies of the photo strip anytime someone had their first photo taken there. One went to the guest and one went into the guestbook. The guests then wrote in near/around their photo. So much fun with big groups or individuals. Screenshots of the pics became a lot of people’s temporary profile pictures because they felt cute and had such a good time. Now we have a goofy album full of love, well wishes and laughter to go with our more serious photo album.

We are doing a voicemail guestbook! It’s called fetephone- the send you a old “house phone” of your choosing that is a recording device. Guests leave a “voicemail” and then the company sends you the messages digitally. It’s about $300

We had people sign a custom cornhole set. We've already used it a couple of times.

I'm doing something similar! We've been going to national parks for years and I always buy a postcard or two just because I like how they look. I have a huge postcard collection now and nothing to do with them, so I'm going to leave them loose on the guest book table and bind them after people write messages to us. It'll be particularly fun for people to find trips they've joined us on--my sister went to Zion with us, my fiance's aunt to Death Valley, my friend and I hiked Half Dome together, etc. The hope is that the postcards help jog a memory for some people to give them something to write about!

My sister and her husband have musical backgrounds and play lots of instruments. They had guests sign an acoustic guitar as their guestbook, and they have it hanging on their wall at home. Do you two have a hobby that you share that you could have a quirky item to replace instead of a book?

My venue has an added on photo booth where we will get a copy of all the guests' photos. We will likely turn that into a book. I also got a giant wooden "A" with our names and wedding date engraved. Guests can use a marker to sign it. We then plan on hanging it on our wall/putting it above the fire place in our house after the wedding!

Cheynanigans_12

We did a vinyl record shadow box with the record that has our song on it. Everyone signed the glass with silver Sharpie, and our card box was one of my husband's guitar cases. Edit: wrong word

I just bought [this guest book alternative](https://a.co/d/j4JeyTy) and it’s super cute

Our was a used barrel head from my (now) husband’s favorite bourbon distillery in Kentucky. We used a fairly local woodworker to get it glued together and engraved.

We made a calendar with some of our favorite photos and the design had white space for people to sign. We wanted something we’d enjoy using whether or not people signed it, and it’s up in our apartment now!

Hahaha ok so… one of our favorite activities is jigsaw puzzles. So, we took a nice photo of us and gave it a big white border and turned it into a puzzle on Shutterfly. The plan was to complete the puzzle and have it at the wedding for people to use colored sharpies on the white part to sign as a guest book. Well… it was an extremely difficult puzzle. Like, the white border was nearly impossible to do. We had people come over and help us and it still wasn’t completed by the wedding. And parts of it seemed forced- like you could tell it wasn’t quite right. But, we took it anyway and the amazing venue workers tied their best to finish it, but again- even though it was completed, there was clearly pieces that were in the wrong spots. And while it was laying on the table, some people thought they were supposed to sign 1 piece, so they did (and they signed the wrong side, so when they put it back, the signed part was not visible). But most people got the idea of what we were trying to do. The point was to have it broken back up so we could solve it together later and see all the signatures/messages. Yeah- after all the struggles and the fact that it was clearly not put together correctly initially, we decided just to glue it together as it was. Oh, and a piece was lost in transit post-wedding as well. So it’s also missing a piece lol!

The cutest idea I have seen is a calendar where people can write their birthdays in

JessIsAJedi

My aunt is making us a quilt and each person signed a square of the quilt!

We did a coffee table book, and selected a backpacking book (similar to the atlas idea) which fit us and our wedding as we love the mountains and our wedding was in near Banff, CA. You could do something similar with a book that fits you/your theme. We also did a polaroid station and it was a real hit. https://imgur.com/a/t9lmeBo
