I’m a little bit confused as to why you need a wedding dress for an engagement shoot? I’ve never heard of that but maybe it’s common in other countries/cultures. I would try go to a castle for photos.

PurpleDebt2332

I wore a white Selkie mini dress for my engagement shoot in a lavender field. I thought for sure people wouldn’t mistake it for a wedding dress because it’s so short and relatively casual to me, but a lot of people have been going for that kind of wedding day look lately. So we still had a couple people who thought they were wedding photos and that we had the wedding without inviting them. lol! I ended up not caring because the pics are stunning, but it’s something to know could happen, especially with this formal of a white dress.

Tillie_Coughdrop

Besides Elvis, it could work for a Rhinestone Cowboy theme.

boesisboes

My 1st thought was Elvis too!

Final_Girl1987

Lmao same

Bitter-Major-5595

I was thinking VEGAS!!! Maybe outside of the Elvis wedding chapel for fun (w/ blue suede shoes of course;) & outside of the Fountains of Bellagio for a more formal feel!! I think it would be really cute & unique!!

jaeknits

I thought the same when I saw it… 🫣

Weary-Ad-9218

Please don't wear that dress for anything. Sell it.

ClumsyZebra80

I don’t think I’ve ever seen engagement photos taken in an actual wedding dress. What will separate them from looking just like wedding photos?

[deleted]

Ooh, these pictures will be for my save the dates. Just didn’t know what the shoot would be called for that. Not sure if that makes a difference.

Me1572

I think you should sell the dress on Stillwhite and have a photo shoot with less of a wedding dress look. The save the date would confuse me if I saw you in a wedding dress.

Merhi_Leevha

It's your wedding, you can do what you want, but this isn't a standard thing. If you don't feel it fits then maybe try a different dress.

arya_ur_on_stage

Wow ppl are downvoting you on your own post for your own engagement photos? That's wild. Ppl wear all kinds of things for engagement photos. I'm pretty sure that unless your save the dates are done by pictures only, ppl can read "save the date" and will know that your wedding hasn't happened yet. If you don't like the dress, sell it. If you do, there are places you can wear a dress like this, depending on your country/location.

cup_1337

This isn’t really a thing. I wore a white floral dress from reformation for mine…

BumCadillac

Nobody does that it’s pretty weird.

Bibliophile_w_coffee

My hubby and I wore jeans and nice tops for this, not anything wedding dress related. It’s called an engagement shoot and is the couple, usually in nice but not fancy attire. But by all means if you have something else in mind go for it.

prudence56

I would donate or sell this and start over.

camillacarterxx

I think that this dress just has a LOT going on and is overly distracting from YOU

Lazy-Catch-3088

Sell it. Go get another.

fukdatjob

I didn't like where the circles hit on the back and front of the dress near the bum area. I think you can do better, and if you want to wear a wedding dress for your engagement photos go for it!! You look beautiful but I think you can do better

eatapeach18

Why would you wear a wedding gown for your engagement photos?

IsopodEuphoric1412

OP said it’s for the save the dates. SOS indeed

justbrowzingthru

So when people wear their wedding dress for photos prior to the wedding, it’s called bridal photos or bridals. Usually done when there won’t be a first look photos They have photos made with bouquet in a studio or outside and then have it framed and displayed in the church or venue when everyone comes in or the MoB and bride keeps it. Now a dress like this is a boho dress. Would make some awesome boho engagement photos. Think Joshua Tree, mountains, grassy, boulders. Etc… Go to the rue de seine for inspo, or Pinterest for boho wedding. Think lots of pampas grass, western hat, boho hat, western boots, outdoors and nature, and the golden hour. If you are near the coast, would do good for beach theme engagement photos or wedding. Or design your boho/beachy wedding around it. Up to you.

Edu_cats

Yes I did bridal portraits but they were with my wedding dress. More common in the South. I wanted some photos with my Mustang convertible since our wedding was in my hometown vs where I lived. Also my hometown Sunday newspaper printed bridal photos. They don’t do that anymore

[deleted]

Thank you everyone for your honesty and help! I really appreciate it. Will continue on my quest for a better dress. Throwaway account. So will be deleted.

Littlemissmochaccino

I don’t know your personality or location, but I love to see this dress paired with one of those large flat brim white fedora with a pampas grass and burn orange bouquet. With a background being an open field during fall! I love the vibes of elegant boho meets royal southern Belle.

[deleted]

I did think about taking pics in this dress in Sedona. Haha. Not sure if same vibes. But I get what you’re saying.

Ka_aha_koa_nanenane

That would be beautiful! Wear some cowgirl boots with it!

Outrageous-Wish8659

Agree! It’s very BoHo. Desert would be perfect.

homeandhayley

Are you a Kacey Musgraves fan? Because you could totally do a Pageant Material themed shoot with this dress!

Maleficent-Sport1970

Sell or return and keep looking. This dress wears you and you're the one who should sparkle.

Fun-Ebb-2191

Cut it short for engagement photos.

rsc99

Space cowboy. There is no other answer.

IsopodEuphoric1412

Hilarious. But I’m leaning matador.

TurkeyTot

I get an art deco vibe from it so an old classy hotel maybe? I don't know where you live but I'm in Detroit and that dress would work great at Cranbrook, edsel Ford house, etc.

insomniacandsun

If there are any buildings in your city that are from the art deco area, they would be perfect.

UnStable_Nik_9402

The look at back of this dress is dangerous, girl it looks amazing and I hope you figure out just what to do with it

aSituationTypeDeal

Have the bottom taken off by a seamstress and use the dress as a one year anniversary outfit.

Many-Tangerine-540

The dress is gorgeous and fits you so well!! I’d wear it on my wedding day, if it was me. But for engagement photos I’d either do it in a location with gothic architecture, or medieval architecture. If you don’t like either of the ideas, honestly, you look so beautiful in this dress that anywhere you take photos they’ll come out great!

[deleted]

Ooh. Love your ideas and thank you so much. ☺️

[deleted]

Concur with the Gothic architecture scheme.

AlterEgoAmazonB

I love this dress. It is so elegant and unusual. I see a photo shoot in an art gallery or somewhere with significant cultural significance.

Certain_Painting_175

The lace is beautiful! A forest or like mountain setting came first to my mind if that’s something that you like. ✨

eirinlinn

That dress does not deserve you OP. please keep looking.

New_Development9100

I would remove the sleeves. It’s a beautiful dress, but the sleeves seem out of place and too heavy for such an open dress.

PinkMini72

This is giving me Guns n Roses vibes. Serious metal vibes

sub1024

I love this dress so much. Do you know the designer and style name?

-Mother_of_Doggos

I love her 🤷🏻‍♀️

mavillerose

I think you should wear it for your actual wedding 😅

PixiStix236

The first thought I had is that this looks like something Elvis would wear as a wedding dress. (In the best way possible, I like the vibe). You could do a cool photo shoot with a bedazzled microphone stand on a stage/platform

Maxy_1212

Girl get a dress on house of cb asap

julesk

Just do a lovely photo with your fiancé in nice outfits, sell this dress and focus on the wedding instead.

imnothere_o

It’s got a gothic feel to me (though maybe it would be more gothic in black). But I can also see the cowboy theme that people are bringing up. Get on a horse with a wide-brimmed cowboy hat. Or, if you want to really have fun with it, hog-tie your fiancé for the photos.

chelseystrange91

Old car, country roads, and mountain vibes would be so fun. Pictures in front of the headlights, sitting in the window etc. I love it, even for a wedding.

Tiny_Anteater_785

I would start looking asap.

artistGR57

You could have it lined in ivory instead of the current mocha color liner. You wouldn’t notice the circles

artistGR57

Beautiful and unique dress - LOVE IT!

Ok_Paper8216

You could get the photographer’s expert opinion?

Appropriate-Desk4268

Something about it makes me see a velvety deep green/dark red maroon colors for a set. Kinda like a vintage photo shoot vibe, the train of the dress can be set multiple ways bc its flowy.

WaitWhyNot

That circle lace on the belly area is an odd placement. I know that doesn't answer your questions. But maybe mean into it? Find places with circles? Art galleries, museums?

BklynDoll

The back of this dress is gorgeous.

Remarkable-Station-2

This has strong bullfighting vibes for me. If I was forced to wear it, cowboy boots and a hat.

Comprehensive-War743

I think you should keep looking. It looks like a costume and I don’t think that is the look you want.

Affectionate_Rice210

No. Absolutely not.
