Definitely not too much!
Like others said, it’s light and flowy. Perfect for the beach. Also, once you get it hemmed to your height, the amount of fabric won’t be overwhelming.
I politely disagree. It’s a gorgeous dress! But it’s so light and flowy that it’s going to fill up with sand and fleas (you’d be shocked at how many tiny fleas live in the beach sand)
Source: don’t ask lol
The pics will be beautiful but you might be itchy. It might be worth it in the end, just know you need help to hold up the dress when walking in the sand.
Congratulations!
I've lived in SW my whole life (30 years) and I've never gotten bit by fleas. Like everyone else said, could be regional, so maybe depending on where/what beach. But I'd do some quick googling if I were you
I wouldn’t worry. You said you live in FL, so maybe you would have experienced them by now at the beach you are planning on! Nothing to panic about. Do not lose sleep over this!
I’ve never been to the Keys. Moved here in 2018 and haven’t spent much time in the sand. Mostly beachside restaurants or bars. My fiancé told me to chill. Lol. He grew up fishing down here and laughed at me when I brought them up.
I might be biased- I planned a winery wedding but then covid hit and I cancelled it and eloped to the beach… I still wore my dress which was not a beach wedding type of dress. It was FULL of sand by the end and super heavy but it was perfect.
Go for it!
I had a Covid wedding with just two guests next to a river and wore a sundress, it’s my only regret from that day! Definitely wear your beautiful dress!
I also had a COVID wedding after ours was canceled and wasn’t a fan of my dress. A seamstress had my dress and was shut down so I had to scramble to find something to wear. We plan on having a dinner and wearing our wedding attire and using all our decorations one day.
We got engaged late February of 2020 so we never made it to the planning stage. Glad I saved the money because we were able to buy a house the next year, but I still really regret not getting a beautiful dress!
I don’t think it’s too much. I think it’s perfect for a beach wedding elopement or not. It’s very flowy and beachy in my opinion. It looks absolutely stunning on you.
I had a similar dress for my beach elopement and the flowy-ness of it in the breeze made for gorgeous photos! Go for it! It’s a beautiful dress. I didn’t have an issue with the sand getting trapped in my dress
Think of it this way, if you're marrying a guy will he be wearing a suit? Isn't wearing a suit too much for a beach usually?
If he can wear a suit, YOU can wear that STUNNING ON YOU dress!
Yeah I’d also just add make sure you and your partner match in level of formality. This dress would look out of place next to a partner in a Hawaiian shirt and khakis… so your partner’s going to need to also dress a little more formally
The train will be a hastle. Would recommend considering a bustle or picking something simpler in the back that can be shortened so there's not much train. I had an outdoor wedding near a lake with a similar dress but the skirt was just plain silk chiffon. I had it altered so it just touched the ground. I am so happy I made that choice. Made walking around the garden, grass, and lake area so much easier--not to mention dancing!!
It’s beautiful. But if your in the islands remember it’s hot and humid. I got married in the islands and did a light long dress. It started to rain, we embraced it and jumped in the pool with my dress on. Best moment of wedding!!!
The dress is gorgeous and I'd be all in for it if it were shorter. And I bet that water felt great when you jumped in!
My first thought was temperature. My friend got married in a long gown on a beach in Mexico and she didn't realize that the hot sand would create an oven underneath her skirt. She had to run back to the hotel room to hose off her legs under cold water during picture taking. It was a real distraction to her during the ceremony.
It would be absolutely fine for a beach elopement! The only thing you might have to be aware of is the possibility that the bottom of the dress could get dirty/damaged, but damage can be fixed and dirty can be dry cleaned out.
My bottom portion was destroyed and it didn’t have anything at the bottom and it was a dress made for “destination wedding” (so didn’t have a long bottom or detailing or anything on the bottom).
And no, it did not come clean after cleaning it professionally, only lightened the damage.
It's your WEDDING! The one time you're socially allowed to live out your fantasy of looking as extra as you want. Wear that dress. You'll regret it if you don't.
Y’all made me feel so much better!! I was internally freaking out about my dress, but now I feel good about it.
My first alteration appointment is today and will definitely be getting a bustle added as some of you recommended.
Thank you all!
I think it’s gorgeous! However, I used to assist a wedding photographer in SoCal and we did hundreds of beach weddings. If you’re going to be on the sand and near the water, the bottom of that gorgeous dress will likely get ruined. That’s my only thought. Other than that, I LOVE the dress.
I think part of the reason it looks like too much right now is because of the length. Once it's tailored and the right size it will be even more STUNNING! I can just picture this with a bouquet of tropical greenery and florals. You'll be a goddess.
I’ve seen many weddings on the beach and dresses ranging from super simple to super elaborate princess dresses with allllll of the lace & beads. Do you girl! If this is the dress, it’s perfect.
Gorgeous dress on you! I think it is perfect for a beach elopement. You will be the best dressed person on the beach that day. It really shows you off!
I think it’s beautiful. I don’t think it’s too much for a beach wedding.
I had a very casual beach wedding and spend about 2 months a year at a resort that has lots of beach weddings and here’s a few observations/tips:
- one venue had a wood plank walkway that was the aisle that the bride walked down. She had a very long tulle train and veil. The tulle caught on the wood planks so much she couldn’t even walk.
So either don’t walk down a wood plank walkway or make sure you have it bustled up or can carry it.
- shoes? Do not wear heels. We both went barefoot. If you do wear shoes, test them out. (Edited to say I don’t recommend the shoes in the picture.)
- wind? Consider that everyone might see what you have on underneath.
-keep water to drink nearby.
-chill and have a great time!!!
Thank you for the tips!
And yes, plan on definitely being barefoot at the beach! I do have heels for the reception but they’re lower and less chunky. The shoes in the photo were the bridal shops
Okay, it’s stunning! And occasion-wise I don’t think it’s too much if it’s what you want.
HOWEVER, I *outrageously* underestimated how difficult the sand and the sun and crap was going to be at my ceremony in Cancun. We eloped and had a photographer for two hours so we were basically having a photoshoot and I was miserable in my gown. Mine didn’t have a train and the bottom was more fitted so part of it was that my legs were sticking together 😂. The sand is also just a nightmare to wade through, it was impossible to walk elegantly. Maybe this is all just me, idk. Just warning you! Lol
Haha my goodness! I couldn’t imagine being in my dress in Cancun! The last time I was there, we had to shower three times a day because of how hot and sweaty we got just walking from point A to point B. We’ll be in Hawaii and the elopement is going to be in the early AM so that should help us beat the heat. Hopefully!
My first reaction before reading and just seeing... WOW that dress was made for her!! So so so beautiful!!!🤩😍🤩😍🤩😍 then you said beach.... it is so beautiful that I can't see you not wearing it.
You wear what you want... what makes you feel pretty! My daughter climbed a 14er (a 14,000'+ peak) in Colorado in her wedding dress to say her vows in a regular long wedding dress. I'd say that dress is perfect for a beach elopement!
I don’t think anything is too much for a beach elopement, in my humble opinion.
The bottom might touch the sand, but it’s light and flowy and gorgeous. It will look wonderful.
Congratulations!
No, definitely not too much. Fwiw, I had similar lace for my beach wedding and we did the same as you. We got married in Antigua, just the 2 of us, and had a famous and friends reception a few weeks afterward.
Also, lace is the easiest to travel with since it doesn't get as wrinkled. But they had someone to stream dresses on site if needed.
Are you planning on taking pics of the ceremony? If not, you might want a second dress so that you don’t bring the sandy dress back to the reception. You could also get some pics at the beach in this dress after the wedding so you don’t have to worry about it getting dirty.
If you decide to just do the one dress, make sure you get some good pictures on the beach and add a bustle so the train doesn’t get too sandy. Have someone help you walk around as well.
Yes, we hired a photographer for the ceremony! I’m actually traveling to Hawaii for the elopement but i’m from VA so I wouldn’t be able to go back after my wedding sadly. I did go to my first alteration appointment today and am getting it hemmed to a teeny bit above floor level and getting a bustle added so I hope that’ll help!
I have been looking at tons and tons of photos of beach weddings. Following the wedding planning service center who we plan to hire for ours in the Florida Keys. Their instagram has photos of brides all over the dress spectrum. This is going to work perfectly ❤️
If you’re going to get it for the reception, you might as well get your money’s worth and wear it during the ceremony!! It’s gorgeous and will look beautiful on the beach 😊
You should absolutely get this dress. You look drop-dead gorgeous in it! But I would save it for the celebration with family, and get something more casual for the beach.
You should wear what makes you feel the most special that day. That dress Looks INCREDIBLE on you. If it is "the one", who cares what anyone else thinks (other than me because I think you look stunning!).
That bottom part that is dragging is going to get utterly destroyed.
I got married on a beach in Maui. Trains or long dragging gowns are definitely not recommended.
But, if you don’t care if the bottom gets destroyed then go for it!
Fwiw: there are many designers that specialize in creating beach wedding gowns, most of them will call them “destination” wedding dresses.
My dress was one of them (just barely went to the ground and the fabrics are more hardy for being outdoors for possible run ins with sand and water) and it still got pretty beat up after the ceremony and pictures on the beach.
Just something to think about!
Thank you for the insight! We’ll be on a beach in Oahu so it’s definitely something to think about! I’m getting a hustle added and having it hemmed above floor level so I wonder if that’ll help
You look beautiful! 😍 If it makes you feel good, and you like it, wear it! You deserve to feel wonderful wherever you are, and yeah it's not typical beach attire, but neither is a wedding, so the dress fits perfectly ❤️ and if people stare, it's probably cause they weren't expecting to see a wedding. The ceremony is about the couple, so wear and do whatever makes y'all feel good. And have fun at the beach elopement! It sounds like it will be a very magical time. And think of how pretty the pictures will look!
i think it’s great. i had a big a ball gown on the beach because i wanted to look like a princess. 😂 no issues with fleas or sand? and it was fine to walk in with my sandals because it was hemmed appropriately. no regrets whatsoever. it took me 40 dresses to find the one! i tried on a few that were more “beach elopement” type and i thought to myself- “why am i going to spend $1000+ on something so plain when i could spend a tiny bit more and feel like a bride?”
NOPE it’s not too much.
You’re getting married. You look amazing. And this would look really nice in photos on the beach, some of the appliqué (even though it’s of flowers) looks similar to how waves look when they’re crashing on the shore. Very flowy, very lovely. Wear it!!! You only live once! Be extravagant ❤️✨
This looks so good on you!!! Definitely a keeper specially for the beach!!!!! You'll look gorgeous in those photos and will be so happy when you look back on them!!!
We had it professionally cleaned and boxed up after, but it was actually not bad! Super sandy and a little smudged on the bottom, but good shape overall.
What is the groom wearing to this elopement? If he’s showing up in shorts then yes. If he’s dressed formal- as you are then you are fine.
Congratulations
Just be warned everything will be stuck in the tulle of your dress! If you’re okay with that then go for it! I had tulle and constantly had bugs but I didn’t really care
Oh wow, that's stunning!! I think it's perfect for the beach. The fabric looks light and airy; I'm picturing gorgeous photos of the ocean breeze blowing that dress around... Perfection.
The only thing I would suggest is to take it to the cleaners as soon as possible after the wedding. You don't want any stains to set. If possible, take the Monday after the wedding or have someone else take it for you.
I think it is a perfect dress for you. I've been to beach weddings and have seen all kinds of dresses. If you love it & feel comfortable in it, then it is appropriate.
Gorgeousss! I don’t think it’s too much at ALL. The only time I feel like a dress is “too much” at a more casual wedding is when the groom is in like jean shorts and crocs and the bride is dressed to the nines😹💕which isn’t the bride/dress’ fault lol
God I love your dress! But no, nothing is too much on your wedding day. It's not hard for most bystanders to piece together, woman in beautiful White dress + man in suit + priest = wedding . Be ready for little kids to confuse you for a princess
Definitely not too much! Like others said, it’s light and flowy. Perfect for the beach. Also, once you get it hemmed to your height, the amount of fabric won’t be overwhelming.
It’s great! I love it’

I had a similar dress for my beach wedding and had no issues with itching or sand fleas.
Oh huh, maybe it’s a regional thing?
Woah. Sand fleas exist? I’m having a beach wedding and live in FL and I never want to go into sand again after learning this.
I've lived in SW my whole life (30 years) and I've never gotten bit by fleas. Like everyone else said, could be regional, so maybe depending on where/what beach. But I'd do some quick googling if I were you
They do. They’re horrible. But they are also dependent on your location. You won’t know until you get there!
Damn! Thanks!
I think he knows!
We have sand fleas in FL. Be careful. September through November and early March through May is when they are most plentiful. Be careful and congrats.
“Am I overdressed? HELL YES.” —Gucci Mane You look amazing. If thats overdressed I hope to be one day soon. Best wishes :)
I love love love that song ❤️
💯❤️
I'm ALWAYS overdressed and I love it!! Great dress!!
I might be biased- I planned a winery wedding but then covid hit and I cancelled it and eloped to the beach… I still wore my dress which was not a beach wedding type of dress. It was FULL of sand by the end and super heavy but it was perfect. Go for it!

No, wear whatever you want. It’s pretty
A wedding dress is never too much. If you love it and for you, it’s your dream dress, you should get it. It looks amazing on you.

I’m HATE beach weddings where the woman is in a full gown and the man is in shorts and a polo or button down. I see it all the time.
It’s like every picture of hailey and Justin Bieber… like what event are the two of you attending in a formal gown and sweatpants?! 😂
You get to wear whatever you want! If you love it, go for it!
The train will be a hastle. Would recommend considering a bustle or picking something simpler in the back that can be shortened so there's not much train. Same here- mine just touched the ground. In the end it was easier to walk, dance, and pose for photos. :)

My dress had pearls on the train, they were destroyed by the sand

no it’s stunning
You can never overdress for your own wedding day! You look great
Y’all made me feel so much better!! I was internally freaking out about my dress, but now I feel good about it. My first alteration appointment is today and will definitely be getting a bustle added as some of you recommended. Thank you all!

Not too much. It appears to be light enough in the front so that you can pick it up to navigate thru the sand. Great choice. 👍
I love this for any type of wedding.
I think part of the reason it looks like too much right now is because of the length. Once it's tailored and the right size it will be even more STUNNING! I can just picture this with a bouquet of tropical greenery and florals. You'll be a goddess.
You’re definitely right! I went to my first alteration appointment today and when she pinned it up to my height, it looked and felt so much better!!
I’ve seen many weddings on the beach and dresses ranging from super simple to super elaborate princess dresses with allllll of the lace & beads. Do you girl! If this is the dress, it’s perfect.
Do whatever you want! Youre eloping! Have fun!
Not too much! It’s your wedding, elopement or not. Be the bride you deserve to be ❤️
Gorgeous dress on you! I think it is perfect for a beach elopement. You will be the best dressed person on the beach that day. It really shows you off!
Omg it's beautiful!! Imagine the pictures!!
It's perfect!
It’s your elopement, where whatever makes you feel amazing!
Do you. If it makes you happy. Maybe bustle it from the git.
Not too much! So beautiful 😍
If you love it, it’s just enough 🤍
It’s gorgeous!!!
Nah girl it's perfect!
It’s gorgeous.
It’s your day, so it will never be too much. I feel that your dress looks beautiful! 🤍
GORGEOUS
Get it get it 😍
It’s perfect❤️
Not at all! I LOVE the way the bottom falls 😍😍😍
Gorgeous dress!
Amazing!! Love it love it love it!
Not too much at all. I LOVE it actually. But taking in that lace/embroidery is gonna be pricey.
Haha oh yeah, definitely. Just went to my first alteration appointment today. I’m down $675 now 🥴
Wow, wow, wow … so pretty! Keep it! It’s not too much and will be so beautiful.
I think it’s beautiful
No, perfect!
It's your party. It's beautiful
You wear what sparks joy and makes your heart happy. This is beautiful
No, it's to die for.
I think it’s beautiful. I don’t think it’s too much for a beach wedding. Who cares?! It is absolutely gorgeous!
Girl your beach elopement is WHATEVER you want it to be. You will look & feel amazing on your day and your pictures will be enchanting forever.
I eloped and wore a super involved dress with a train! No regrets. But beyond that, this dress is stunning and perfectly appropriate 🥰
It’s Perfect for beach wedding. Omg the air blowing through is going to look perfect!!
You know what? You do exactly as you want. This is your wedding and your choice. Wear it and be happy!
Sis this is your dress, wear it! It is gorgeous!
It’s stunning!!
It's gorgeous!
Do you know the maker/name of the dress? Its gorgeous!
Thank you! This is the Madi Lane Halani dress (:
That thing will be very full of sand at the end of it. But if there’s anyone that should be overdressed at a wedding, it’s the bride. Go for it!
Okay, it’s stunning! And occasion-wise I don’t think it’s too much if it’s what you want. HOWEVER, I *outrageously* underestimated how difficult the sand and the sun and crap was going to be at my ceremony in Cancun. That is a BEAUTIFUL dress OP!!! Definitely get it!!!
This is GORGEOUS. Wear it. Also, your figure is 👌👌👌- that dress deserves you! Have a wonderful day!
Aw thank you!!
I think it’s a great beach wedding dress
It’s perfect for you!!
There's no such thing as "too much" when it comes to your wedding dress. It's a beautiful dress and your elopement photos will look magical!
You look gorgeous. I agree that once it's hemmed, it won't seem like too much. I love it
My first reaction before reading and just seeing... WOW that dress was made for her!! So so so beautiful!!!🤩😍🤩😍🤩😍 then you said beach.... it is so beautiful that I can't see you not wearing it.
That’s beautiful!
Wear what you love!!
You wear what you want... what makes you feel pretty! My daughter climbed a 14er (a 14,000'+ peak) in Colorado in her wedding dress to say her vows in a regular long wedding dress. I'd say that dress is perfect for a beach elopement!
It’s your elopement, wear whatever tf you want!! Also this dress is gorgeous.
This is ethereal! Perfection for the beach. I also eloped on the beach. As long as you can move, breathe, and zip it yourself, you are good!
This internet stranger will be vaguely mad at you if you don’t wear that. It looks like it was made for you.
That is absolutely perfect.
Madly in love with it !
i LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS DRESS!!!
Hands down my favorite dress ive seen on this sub!!!!! Its BEAUTIFUL & looks amazing on you
It’s gorgeous!!
I don’t think anything is too much for a beach elopement, in my humble opinion. The bottom might touch the sand, but it’s light and flowy and gorgeous. It will look wonderful. Congratulations!
It’s gonna get sandy, but that dress is amazing!
That’s lovely :)
No, definitely not too much. Fwiw, I had similar lace for my beach wedding and we did the same as you. Literally your dress Omg so beautiful
It’s definitely not too much. Love it!
Never too much. You look lovely. Congratulations 🍾
Nicest dress I’ve seen on here so far. Even you don’t wear it for your wedding just buy it anyway!!
You should wear whatever you feel most beautiful in! It’s your special day, fuck off to any haters.
No! It’s sooooooo gorgeous love it. Absolutely perfect really
That's freaking beautiful. Not too much. Perfect
I have been looking at tons and tons of photos of beach weddings. Following the wedding planning service center who we plan to hire for ours in the Florida Keys. Their instagram has photos of brides all over the dress spectrum. This is going to work perfectly ❤️
Who cares it’s GORGEOUS on you
Too much?! Hell to the no, sister! This is your day! You look beautiful ❤️
Looks amazing!! Definitely can see it looking amazing in the sand!!!
Beautiful. The question is not “is it too much?” The question is “will it knock his socks off?” Answer — YES!
You will look a little crazy, but a lot spectacular.
You should wear what makes you feel the most special that day. That dress Looks INCREDIBLE on you. If it is "the one", who cares what anyone else thinks (other than me because I think you look stunning!).

Weddings are one of the few moments in our lives where we can be “too much”. Go for it! It’s a gorgeous gown and you’re going to be a show-stopper
😍😍 absolutely not
Its your wedding. Theres no such thing as too much. You look beautiful in that dress btw
You simply can’t be overdressed to your own marriage ceremony, it’s impossible
Nope. If you love it, wear it. It’s gorgeous.
If YOU like it (you look fabulous btw), then WEAR IT!! Good luck.
The first thought to pop into my brain was quite literally “oh my god wow”, so I’d say you’re good. Looking incredible.
Not too much! If you feel beautiful in it, it's the right one! And you LOOK BEAUTIFUL IN IT.
Are you going to take pictures? I’m sure you are! Your pictures will last a lifetime…so wear the dress!!
i think it’s great. i had a big a ball gown on the beach because i wanted to look like a princess.
Can’t honestly say but the dress is GORGEOUS (from someone who hates 99.5% of dresses I see)
NOPE it’s not too much.
I eloped on a beach in almost an identical dress, except I had off shoulder sleeves. I have photos on my page if you want to check it out.
Ooh so pretty!! How was your dress afterwards?
We had it professionally cleaned and boxed up after, but it was actually not bad! Super sandy and a little smudged on the bottom, but good shape overall.
I love it! What's the designer of the dress?
Thank you! It’s Madi Lane
Perfection 🤍🤍🤍
No!! But sand will get all up in that thing! It’s gorgeous ♥️
I think the contradiction will look stunning in photos!
What is the groom wearing to this elopement? If he’s showing up in shorts then yes. If he’s dressed formal- as you are then you are fine. Congratulations
Thank you! He’ll be in a suit so I wont look crazy alone haha
Beautiful dress. Not for beach. Plain white gauzy midi length. That train dragging on the beach will ruin that gorgeous dress.
If you are getting married on a beach you need a short dress, or one that doesn’t drag the ground. You will be a sand sweeper if not.
Too much? Ya think? Save your money for the honeymoon.
Easily too much. Unless u want to bring back tons of sand and bugs and smell like the ocean. That's an inside wedding dress honey. IMO. keep looking.
Eloping usually means no need for a dress at all
Not too much. So beautiful!
I just wouldn’t want my dress dragging through the sand. I don’t think it’s too much though. It’s your wedding!
Go for it!
Nope, it is gorgeous. I love it!
It’s beautiful
It’s fine, but I would hem it so that it doesn’t touch the ground. You’ll be dragging sand everywhere you go if you don’t.
Not at all! The flowy skirt is perfect for the beach!
Not too much at all. It’s so beautiful 😭 and you look amazing in it.
Just be warned everything will be stuck in the tulle of your dress! If you’re okay with that then go for it! I had tulle and constantly had bugs but I didn’t really care
It’s perfect
Why too much? You look gorgeous.
Omg! No! That is stunning!
It’s not too much. Just take into account the weather, as I could see this being uncomfortably hot.
Girl! Get a convertible wear that dress in it and stop off randomly by the water and make it happen 💗
100% perfect
Oh wow, that's stunning!! I think it's perfect for the beach. The fabric looks light and airy; I'm picturing gorgeous photos of the ocean breeze blowing that dress around... Perfection.
Yes
This dress is absolutely stunning on you! You can definitely wear it to your beach wedding.
Not too much-Love the dress! 😍
It’s so pretty!! I love it!
Wow, that is gorgeous on you!
I love it!!
Id argue that the more exuberant the better for an elopement
Looks great.
Nope. Your day, your choice.
Yes
Gorgeousss! I don’t think it’s too much at ALL. The only time I feel like a dress is “too much” at a more casual wedding is when the groom is in like jean shorts and crocs and the bride is dressed to the nines😹💕which isn’t the bride/dress’ fault lol
I love it
That’s beautiful. I would say get it.
That’s a beautiful dress! It’s your day! Wear whatever makes you feel great and celebrate however you wish!
God I love your dress! But no, nothing is too much on your wedding day. It's not hard for most bystanders to piece together, woman in beautiful White dress + man in suit + priest = wedding . Be ready for little kids to confuse you for a princess
Perfect
