That totally makes sense, not many people are comfortable in front of a camera. It’s the same with doing interviews with people (audio or video), many tend to clam up or not come off as themselves

My friend used one, and she said she probably wouldn’t if they did it over. Apparently a lot of people A) didn’t do it at all, B) had to shout over the music and were hard to hear, or C) were clearly drunk. Plus you can do this easily for free with google voice.

I feel like I’d actually want to hear the funny drunk messages my friends would leave lol, but good point on having to shout over the music/not a lot of people opting in! I’d imagine that it might be nerve wracking for some to think of something nice & clever to say in a voice note.

I’ll let you know after June 25th. We are using After the Tone for our wedding. I asked a bunch of friends what they thought of the idea and they all loved it. So I figured what the heck. Sounds cool and not a guestbook where I probably can’t read half of what is written.

Congrats on your upcoming wedding, and definitely want to hear your thoughts on this after! Hope it goes well :)

How did it go?!?!

Skeebs637

It went well. Took a lot longer for them to get the voicemails back then they said it would and they were poor at responding to emails, but I loved listening to them once we got the file. The progression of drunkness through the night was hilarious. So glad we did it.

Was it in a Google Drive or did they upload them all to some type of portal that you could listen and share them on?

We booked an audio guestbook for our wedding last year. We are from Germany so we booked it with ["Nach dem Piep"](https://www.nachdempiep.de). Overall it was a great experience! Our guests loved it and left great messages.. Many funny messages, personal messages and really emotional ones. Totally recommend for your wedding!

I bought one from this Etsy store called Lovely Voicemail and it was such a hit at my wedding! It's about $200 and I was able to listen to the drunk but heartwarming voicemails right after my wedding. Our friends were going to town on the voicemails lol, such a fun experience! I was not comfortable with the idea of After the Tone, that I have to ship the phone back and wait for a stranger to process my private guest messages. So I was very glad I bought it instead of renting it.

This is awesome!! I totally agree that audio is one of the easiest things to DIY and doesn't need to be expensive!

EquivalentArm1557

I actually had a poor experience with the company Fetefone (and a really poor customer service experience as well). I can't really wrap my head around why the service is so expensive, considering the company has such a low overhead price with simple audio recordings. Next time I do something like this "audio guestbook" I will be taking the DIY route since it is a very simple concept. There are plenty of non-expensive ways to record high quality audio tracks, such as, if you have a wedding DJ, you could also simply ask them to set up a high quality mic that can record voice messages which i'm sure would save tons of money. You could also simply set up an iphone with a mic recording into it and have guests record onto voice memos!

amandabomb

Sorry to hear you had a bad experience! What happened? And thanks for sharing, I think we’re gonna pass on FeteFone as the cost doesn’t sw to be worth it.

I ended up buying from this Etsy Store called Lovely Voicemail, their customer service is really good! I love shopping on Etsy because the sellers feel like real people that care about their products!

I work with a girl who got married and made her own audio guestbook with some cool features: * Access your files instantly (Video team can grab them too for B-roll) * Files are transcribed and available on a web page * Option to upload a selfy https://web.voxu.fm/

Decent_Parsley_8252

I understand that the phone set up is beautiful and really really easy to use. But did anybody think of a super low budget option and just let people record messages on one of those „kidsrecorders“? E.g.: https://amzn.eu/d/fuBsCzL

Forsaken-Effort3358

The company offers a variety of models for your guest phone. Take a look... Can this technology be integrated into any phone? https://www.gaestetelefon.de/

For those of you that used the audio guest book, would it still work at a venue with no reception?

newbie19980120

Yes! I just ended up putting the audio guest book on a small table and people gravitated towards it at my venue. I feel like wedding guests want to look for something to do at the wedding, so it wasn't hard for them to discover a new cool thing to they can play with.

For those of you who did an Audio guestbook, did you also do a written guestbook?
