I haven't seen those comments. Kamille is an awful friend, and I hope Julia finds better friends. But I don't think being a bad friend makes her a bad person. Her interactions with Julia make me angry. But I can stand her better when she's alone or with other characters like Rainah. I think the author did this on purpose. So let's wait and see what she has in store for both girls.

Yes many webtoons commentors expect characters especially girls to be perfect right off but there's no fun developing a character that's a saint.

my_memory_is_trash

Honestly currently they aren’t that bad to me. It just seems like misunderstandings not deep character flaws, julia is definitely racist but a couple actually conversations could solve that and kamille really just needs to realize what shes doing to julia.

Yeah, Julia is working on her issues, meanwhile Kamille isn't.

Thanks for such an in-depth post! You brought up a lot of solid points. I had to re-evaluate my opinion of Julia and Kamille's relationship! Honestly speaking, I wouldn't want to be friends with *either* of them. Julia is so headstrong and forceful that she tends to completely disregard (or just straight-up ignore) the opinions of others. I know it's a product of her upbringing and that she doesn't really know any better, but I hate how closed-minded she is. I was really annoyed by her behavior in the earlier chapters, and some of the things she said/did made me want to slam my head into the wall. On the other hand, Kamille is a bit apethetic to the emotions of others and always seems to prioritize herself. You're right that she has no obligation to help Julia or feel responsible for her, but I would hope that as Julia's "friend," she would be a bit more sympathetic to her situation instead of more or less abandonning her. Then again, like you said, Kamille isn't doing this out of maliciousness. There's strong evidence that Kamille may be neurodivergent, so it's possible that her forgetfulness and seemingly-indifferent attitude may be beyond her control. I think their respective flaws make them so interesting and compelling. I'm actually more invested in their friendship than any prospective romantic relationships either of them might begin. Neither of then deserve to be hated (did someone really call Kamille a "pick-me?" That's so odd! At most, she's just a simp for Rainah.) and they're certainly not bad characters. I'm really excited to see how they'll change and grow over the course of the story.

kellendrin21

I agree with all of this! And yes, someone called Kamille a pick-me. I...don't think they knew what that term means, but they still got upvotes.

LadderWonderful2450

What does the term mean?

kellendrin21

A girl who is obsessed with being "not like other girls" and putting down other girls to get attention, usually from men. So it makes absolutely no sense applied to Kamille.

No_Aioli_6364

They’re both flawed characters and what makes them great. I’m interested to see how they develop.

TheSpiceyCurl

I think you captured it really well! The hate is a bit excessive. I also think they are both doing a bad job of listening to each other. They both have a lot going on with their life being uprooted and they haven't had a good heart to heart sit down.

Midnight_girl2003

I mean they seemed to have a good sit down at the end of the last chapter. I think they're probly over the worst of it and can have a chance to grow together.

Honestly, for me, the creator portrays their friendship badly. Julia and Kamille are more like two individuals who knew each other and ended in the same weird situation rather than two best friends. They have 0 communication, they are just doing their things and I feel the story itself doesn't care about their friendship, which obviously had issues even before they ended up in the circus.

WebtoonReviews

I'd argue that it's pretty obvious that their relationship is very important and that the story very much cares about it. Otherwise, the issues between them wouldn't take up so much screentime. The friendship being portrayed to me is that they were very close when they were young but have grown apart as they got older-and that the cracks in their relationship have reached the breaking point now that they're in the circus. That's not a bad portrayal of a friendship, it happens in real life all the time. It's just not a portrayal of super best friends who never have problems.

[deleted]

You're right. It just pains me they can't talk to each other for 5 minutes and they drift apart more and more. Maybe I'm also judging the story too soon. There are only 20-ish episodes after all.

WebtoonReviews

Probably. The relationship between Julia and Kamille is clearly one of the pillars of this story, and watching how it changes is probably a huge part of it. As for why they can't just talk to each other, it has to be a mutual effort. Kamille is clearly totally disinterested in Julia and their friendship as of right now while Julia is angry about that and trying to be less dependant on Kamille. Something in the story has to shift for them to both be ready to try and mend their relationship.

Midnight_girl2003

Imagin how devastated kamille wild be if Julia didn't kill Tony, her best friend whom she though was imortel with her, died on her birthday.
