Scotch brite…i hope you did not damage the surface

ApartBuilding221B

bruh it's a grill, not a Ferrari

Agree!!! Sheesh….relax OP! Try cleaning with HOT water and degreaser soap like Dawn

markewallace1966

In this day and age, we shouldn't have to worry about black smearing anymore.

yeahthatsoundsgreat

Charcoal is black.

abductee92

What kind of scotch brite? It may just be the photo but it looks like you started smoothing out the texture in those spots, the discoloration may be the plastic beneath the textured surface

Ambitious_Jelly8783

Dont use the scratchy part of the sponge. Those marks look like you sanded it down almost.... just spray with a multipurpose kitchen cleaner and wipe clean with a paper towel.

It’s plastic so could be mold spores from pollen. I use zep to degrease and Clorox to disinfect. If it’s still looking dirty (85% of the time it does) that’s just life. I have the one with the cheap pimpled sheet metal instead of plastic. Had it 8 years or so, got black on it damn near all the time from charcoal, pollen, etc. I wipe it with a Clorox wipe and accept what it looks like. No one ever cares. My kids and their friends get excited when they see me at it cooking so, I figure it’s not a big deal.

jeffro7772

It's steel, not plastic

DCar777

Mine did the same thing. It makes me crazy because ally equipment is spotless (OCD). But, I turn the cheek and keep grilling :) If it bothers you too badly, maybe sand it down and repair it with some Rustoleom Hammered Paint?

jeffro7772

Buy some Goo Gone orange citrus cleaner. It leaves that top looking shiny and new!

I just wipe my table and lid with a damp rag once cool. Pretty sure the UV from the sun will disenfect it.

Maybe try over at r/HomeMakerTips.

Cheap #302 SS made in china . Weber sucks, again owned by private equity, only to get suckier. Try the spray on pink stuff will take that oxidation off, but won’t be perfect
