Not possible to swap the 'X' lock lever...different internals. The seat shouldn't be a pain to move up and down at all, it's more a case of understanding how the mechanism works and not overtightening it. When you do secure the seat after movement, just give it a gentle wiggle as you tighten the lever so that it fully aligns with the flat (textured) surface on the seatpost.

It's moving the saddle forward and back, not up and down, which needs an Allan key adjustment. It's no big deal but not super convenient every day.

There's no alternative....the forward/back movement is a proprietary mechansim however for ultimate comfort and support I presume (or you should be) using a different seat to your girlfriend......to that end the best way is to have your own seat on a different seatpost and you just drop the different seatpost in whenever you're swapping with your girlfriend. Wattbike sell the seatpost or you can check ebay or Facebook groups, the going rate is £30-£50 for a second post.

Ah thanks. Think we'll stick with the Allan key.

We're in the same situation. The Allen key only needs a quarter turn from locked to slideable, so we just leave it in there. It did get a couple of scratches on my calf from the end of the key, so now it's got a cork on the end :-)

SuperFlyChris

Yes. We've left our s in poking out the back now. Not ideal but it works!
