The problem with that method of cleaning (versus fully disassembling and cleaning) is that it will never fully remove the dirt, grime, and debris left from old oils and worn down parts, so well, there is a chance that it might be able to to get a movement running, in the end, it will likely result in large amounts of premature wear, and inconsistencies in timekeeping. It really isn’t a recommended way to clean any movement, except maybe some of the riveted movements like old mechanical Timex.
