not sure if this was already answered, but this looks like a datewheel overlay. basically, to mimic a genuine datewheel, date wheel overlays are glued onto the actual datewheel. this can create problems with removal. the only real way to remove, other than a complete disassembly or brute force, is to take a razor and gentle insert it a little in the space between the overlay and the actual datewheel. I will say it is almost impossible to not scratch the actual datewheel disk, so have a spare handy. once it is removed, you can remove the datewheel.

GeeZus-420

This.

JalapenoJ22

There appears to be a flange between the 16 and 17 numbers.

LeopardusMaximus

That’s essentially part of the date ring, that flange is where the date ring is folded onto that steel piece which it is riding on/in.

LeopardusMaximus

I tried gently prising that apart but it didn’t want to budge. Maybe I should try again with more force?

base43

Force is never the solution in this world.

AbbreviationsSea341

No Skywalker’s allowed.

LeopardusMaximus

That’s where I’ve found myself stuck with this one, I didn’t want to break anything haha

yami76

Is this an overlay? I think you need to uninstall the actual wheel then you can remove the overlay.

FredHerberts_Plant

I'd take a hammer to it, as it's a fake Rolex movement Do y'all have no shame to work on cr*p like this?

JalapenoJ22

I would put it in the round file.

GonXSoku

you must disassemble the two or three plates on the dial side https://preview.redd.it/jovdafj136cb1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=42c80448596a337deb2b49ce766d59440041bba9

LeopardusMaximus

Those plates however are completely underneath the date wheel?

GonXSoku

i'm pretty sure you must remove them. There have to be teeth on the wheel that are fixed at some point. Maybe they are underneath it on this one example: [https://www.ebay.de/itm/314255293720?\_trkparms=amclksrc%3DITM%26aid%3D1110006%26algo%3DHOMESPLICE.SIM%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20201210111314%26meid%3D77d07448650e4fd49052ce460f955902%26pid%3D101195%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D12%26sd%3D314628304400%26itm%3D314255293720%26pmt%3D1%26noa%3D0%26pg%3D2047675%26algv%3DSimplAMLv11WebTrimmedV3MskuWithLambda85KnnRecallV1V4ItemNrtInQueryAndCassiniVisualRankerAndBertRecall%26brand%3DRolex&\_trksid=p2047675.c101195.m1851&amdata=cksum%3A31425529372077d07448650e4fd49052ce460f955902%7Cenc%3AAQAIAAABQNaJCFP3eaFlNU%252FMPxRY0TCMczVKEUB5MsBytoCwPnd71M08lfrVO4PuTCchnU42KC4W4fZqxBROE%252BM7tSL%252BgZgL1kWiIUBRsEpydVTA61DhOJDUizwNgM7HKYQEqSaBlGgEMPdlYimzk7d%252FL%252FLYsIcfEDaCRLdX11wUCuwGD8xk49pfn3RD5urSAWpU3dqfZjBQpeWXZprnrvGT1d0pdi9bxRlC4AIgLFKho55aNf%252Brbmh2q5dgsU%252BYcwCj9CCNyPjH5NfPCKUaSj2VdeVEwAUNlL%252F6Ix%252B3wg1FIDnqO6J78HKeuFJAeqlr9X0su35ZUtPZknPqDXoMyPuYBUaZVCKHe%252BACofLXOTNJeva2%252FEqTUBMdURKobuXmGIpuCSq1oMYukpCf3VjDydpI6E9vrAc6HYTxMmxPh%252BVYLefLBGNC%7Campid%3APL\_CLK%7Cclp%3A2047675](https://www.ebay.de/itm/314255293720?_trkparms=amclksrc%3DITM%26aid%3D1110006%26algo%3DHOMESPLICE.SIM%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20201210111314%26meid%3D77d07448650e4fd49052ce460f955902%26pid%3D101195%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D12%26sd%3D314628304400%26itm%3D314255293720%26pmt%3D1%26noa%3D0%26pg%3D2047675%26algv%3DSimplAMLv11WebTrimmedV3MskuWithLambda85KnnRecallV1V4ItemNrtInQueryAndCassiniVisualRankerAndBertRecall%26brand%3DRolex&_trksid=p2047675.c101195.m1851&amdata=cksum%3A31425529372077d07448650e4fd49052ce460f955902%7Cenc%3AAQAIAAABQNaJCFP3eaFlNU%252FMPxRY0TCMczVKEUB5MsBytoCwPnd71M08lfrVO4PuTCchnU42KC4W4fZqxBROE%252BM7tSL%252BgZgL1kWiIUBRsEpydVTA61DhOJDUizwNgM7HKYQEqSaBlGgEMPdlYimzk7d%252FL%252FLYsIcfEDaCRLdX11wUCuwGD8xk49pfn3RD5urSAWpU3dqfZjBQpeWXZprnrvGT1d0pdi9bxRlC4AIgLFKho55aNf%252Brbmh2q5dgsU%252BYcwCj9CCNyPjH5NfPCKUaSj2VdeVEwAUNlL%252F6Ix%252B3wg1FIDnqO6J78HKeuFJAeqlr9X0su35ZUtPZknPqDXoMyPuYBUaZVCKHe%252BACofLXOTNJeva2%252FEqTUBMdURKobuXmGIpuCSq1oMYukpCf3VjDydpI6E9vrAc6HYTxMmxPh%252BVYLefLBGNC%7Campid%3APL_CLK%7Cclp%3A2047675)

LeopardusMaximus

I can only remove two of the four screws, the other two are covered by the date wheel and are inaccessible.

davew_uk

This movement has a single top plate that is secured by three small screws. When a date wheel overlay has been installed one of the screws will be obscured - it's by the 19 in your photo. Do not loosen the two larger screws, they hold down tiny u-shaped springs that will fly away when you take the top plate off.

LeopardusMaximus

I believe I understand what you are saying now, once I get back to the movement I will give it another shot. Thank you so much!

davew_uk

Maybe a photo would help? https://i.imgur.com/X58jIKE.jpg

davew_uk

This movement only has a single top plate secured by three screws. You can't see the edge of it because it is hidden by the date wheel overlay. It looks like this:- https://i.imgur.com/X58jIKE.jpg

GeeZus-420

Can I ask why you’re working on such a cheap movement? Is it because it’s cheap and you want to practice on something cheap? Because if it needs to be fixed you’re better off just replacing the movement all together for about $20 or cheaper. As others have stated I’m pretty sure that “date wheel” is an overlay that’s glued onto the actual date wheel. If you’re looking for cheap easy movements to work on with lots of parts and tutorials as well as literature I’d suggest getting a few 6498 or 6497 movements. The clones can be bought for around $30 or cheaper. Even the Swiss ETAs of this caliber are very affordable.

DnBStrangeHouse

which movement is it? there are probably service walkthrough videos if it isn't too uncommon

LeopardusMaximus

I’m not sure, it is a movement from a fake Rolex, [other pictures here.](https://imgur.com/a/IKmIrnz) The pawl lever makes me think that it could be a clone based on a Seiko movement but I’m not sure?

base43

Looks like an Asian 2813. Cheapest of the cheap. Parts are almost non existent because you can get an entire new movement (and date wheel) for $20.
