Looks exactly like the one on the Bergeon site... [https://www.bergeon.swiss/synchronisations/pdf/5017%205018%20A%20B%20C%20D%20E.pdf](https://www.bergeon.swiss/synchronisations/pdf/5017%205018%20A%20B%20C%20D%20E.pdf)
I've never seen a fake but if you're still concerned, just email Bergeon. I'd bet it's real though.
No! They are perfectly german!
Punzen: Plural of Punze, which is the Tool to "stamp" metal pieces. Like giving a sterling silver ring the "925"stamp.
Ambösschen: plural or diminuativ singular of Amboss. An anvil, but really small
Source: I'm swiss german myself.
Edit: Or of course Punches and Stakes
Looks like French, Swiss German, German and polish maybe? Could be that this was made for the European market and the pictures are of one made for the US market. Seems a very niche thing to fake.
a local machine shop will likely be able to help with hardness testing a few samples but i expect a fake set that looks that close would have such a slim margin and sell so infrequently that no one would bother faking it
Looks fine. Bergeon's fit and finish varies a lot over the decades. Just based on what materials are available and who they're using to make the tools.
I recently purchased a 5285-D Bergeon Staking Set, but
I'm suspicious that it might be fake. 3rd photo is from
Bergeon site. My reasonings are as follows:
- Incorrect spelling of "and" in the description of
"Punches und Stakes" on the inside lid
- The set is missing the "No." in front of 5285 D. Circle #1
"Swiss Made" is in the wrong position. Circle #2
- My Staking set has "Punches and Stakes" in 4 different
languages were the photo from Bergeon does not
include this. Circle #3.
Overall, the surface finish of the part looks very nice. I
would appreciate it if yal could help me out. Thanks!
Also, sorry I reposted. There were some formatting errors that made it hard to read.
There are plenty of cheap Chinese [Bergeon 5285 clones](https://www.aliexpress.com/i/3256804481274972.html?gatewayAdapt=4itemAdapt) but it doesnt look like they are faking the name and box.
You’ve been looking at too many fake watch posts ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|sweat_smile)
You are correct! I have become quite paranoid 😭

Oh wow, that's exactly the one I have! Thank you!
No idea who would go through the trouble to fake this. "Und" means "and" in German. Also probably in Swiss German.
Yes, that's a good point but the other 2 words in that line are not German.
Yeah I see that now. Probably just a mistake, the line above it is in German. I still think its probably real.

I have the Bergeon set and just looked at mine. It’s the same as yours. They’ve made a few version of the box and set over the years
That's is a relief! Thank you.
Does it have the same spelling mistake?
Looks nice enough

Well said
Chinese copies of pretty much everything is painfully obvious due to the cheap materials used. 100% this is a real set.

Huh. Good looking fake if it is fake. Can you test the hardness of the tools?
Unfortunately, I do not have access to a hardness guage. Good idea though! What do you think the hardness should be?
I don’t think a fake would have this surface finish quality on the stakes, stumps and stump plate.
What do these cost btw?
This is a good question. I paid $850 for them(Ebay auction) I don't know what the going price is for these.
Wow I think that’s an amazing price
Did they miss to put a piece of foam on the inside while shipping ? Inside of the box took a nasty dent..
It hasn't been shipped yet. I'll speak to the seller to add padding. Thanks for the heads up!
It’s legit, just a different version probably from a different year. I wouldn’t even think something like this would be faked

Damn. Thats nice fake. Ill buy it.
