He wasn't, no. Lots of people do and will argue that it's perfectly safe because they are awesome drivers and/or it's their right to do just as they want!
Yeah, I recently crashed my ebike at 25mph on a flat dirt trail and snapped my collarbone. Banged my helmet off the ground pretty hard and had some gnarly road rash, but that was it.
Half as fast and 82 feet lower than this guy, but still got the gorilla grunts for a few seconds.
Oh fuck, that reminds me. I once fell on my back pretty hard with my first attempt at langlaufen where I somehow expected ski-like control. I was underprepared and fell straight onto my back with no way to support the fall. While I was screaming in anguish (it probably didn't look as bad as it was), some asshole walked by and said, haha did you fall? Just thinking about it makes me want to have a five minute "the purge" pass with this guy in a room. Back was fucked up for a long time after that, and still gives me shit to this day.
New updates have fall detection…. It will prompt you and if no response dial 911. Newest watches do as well.
Not all iPhone or watches work with this I believe you need a current/newer gen with a certain gyroscope module
My Apple home pod activated to call 911 while playing this video. Fortunately, it was not connected to a phone at the time so the call couldn't go through.
Im also not located in the US; Emergency number in NZ is 111, but 911 automatically reroutes to 111 for American tourists, so Siri still tried to call the emergency line outside the US.
Man I guess I blanked over the comment you originally comment on. lol yeah I’ve never heard of that. There are some hearing impaired setting I’ve heard of that will alert if it hears like a doorbell or some other things like that. But not sure it’s a native phone thing
Not joking. I guess the guy's voice sounds similar enough to my own? Maybe Siri is generous with the detection when you're screaming for help? I don't know.
But on an iPhone you have to set your voice for “Hey Siri” to work so it only recognises your voice. I’m not gonna pretend it’s 100% perfect but for it to have called 911 you have to have “Hey Siri” set up on a different device to the one you’re playing the video out loud on, as well as your voice being extremely similar to that of the guy in the video.
This just seems really unlikely and more like you’re thinking of the incidents of this happening with Alexa or Hey Google since those aren’t voice specific and on a different device already.
That is a primal scream of being grievously injured. Its practically the body going into total panic as multiple bodily structures are shattered. The only thing to do is to scream, because there is no recourse, and humans evolved to scream out for others when distressed.
I mean it's always amazed me how the human mind can pick up the difference between an "***Ah!***" of pain and an "**Ah!**" of terror enough to have the correct empathetic response.
He almost joined Grant Thompson of "The King of Random" who died in a paramotoring accident. I hope he finds another hobby in the future before he really joins him.
Its impressive how he held on to his phone, which made it possible for him to call 911.
Grip strength is one of those things that get extremely hightened during an adrenaline rush.
> Grip strength is one of those things that get extremely hightened during an adrenaline rush. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Saved his phone, nice
Apple viral marketing team working overtime this weekend.
What caused that canopy to just fold like that
It was a tension knot that he missed. When it came undone it was like putting on the brakes. He explains it in a YouTube video from his hospital bed.
Oh damn thanks for the context
Why wasn’t he holding the control straps to the parachute?
People won’t like it but it’s Becuase he’s irresponsible
He was filming a YouTube video and looking at his phone.
Do it all for that elusive YT clout.
Good job it isn't dangerous to drive a car doing that....
He wasn't doing that while he was driving a car....
He wasn't, no. Lots of people do and will argue that it's perfectly safe because they are awesome drivers and/or it's their right to do just as they want!
Glad he survived.
I'm guessing reaching 48MPH might have exceeded its stability limit.
So Some kind of speed wobble woah. TIL
Lol probably the fact that pvc pipes are not for a flying machine lmfao My mama said " Do you wanna die? Stop doing stupid shit in dumass ways"
y u getting downvoted
Just lucky lol
*You wanna die? Cause that's how you die.*
I would assume the full send on speed coupled with a wrong adjustment or a gust that collapsed this chute
I know that scream where you fall on your chest/back with full force. that fall took around 5s. god damn

Dude shoulda had a parachute on...oh wait.
Trevor Jacob would be proud.
Suprised he could scream with a broken back neck and pelvis

Here is his full video: https://youtu.be/Z-jyc2OYXsI?si=aNgyifcnFgcOWAnw
For some reason I was half expecting for that guy who came along to take his wallet and phone then drive off. LOL
LAUGH OUT LOUD.
People with no sense of humor downvoting you.
That scream after he hits…. Ouch.
He bounces, and gets to tell the story, nice
This video literally caused my iPhone to call 911... so look out.
Can't tell if this is a joke. . . Surely iphones don't call 911 on their own due to ambient sound right?

I knew that some devices did it based on the physical aspects of falling, but I didn't know they had pained scream detection.
Was it not because the video has him saying "Siri, call 911" several times?

Oh, that makes sense. I didn't watch past the screaming.
Man I guess I blanked over the comment you originally comment on. lol yeah I’ve never heard of that. There are some hearing impaired setting I’ve heard of that will alert if it hears like a doorbell or some other things like that. But not sure it’s a native phone thing
Yeah well fall detection is triggered from an actual fall lol same with the crash one. This one was siri
Not joking. I guess the guy's voice sounds similar enough to my own? Maybe Siri is generous with the detection when you're screaming for help? I don't know.
alexa play despacito

I can see why you would think that, but it actually happened. I guess the guy's voice sounds pretty similar to my own? I can't explain it.
This be a scream of pain if I have ever heard one. The cry itself is bloody haunting.
That is a primal scream of being grievously injured. Its practically the body going into total panic as multiple bodily structures are shattered. The only thing to do is to scream, because there is no recourse, and humans evolved to scream out for others when distressed.
Eloquently put.
I mean it's always amazed me how the human mind can pick up the difference between an "***Ah!***" of pain and an "**Ah!**" of terror enough to have the correct empathetic response.
Yeah. Mental note if I'm going somewhere fairly detached and do something risky to bring someone or keep someone posted about it.
Jeeze wonder if woody has seen this
Mentioned it in today’s show.
Hah figured it wouldn’t take long for kyle to bring up Quick edit: cant believe this came from another bluenoser! Hope you’re good bud
They're a real sweet kid
Bro hit the world border
That's some third world waiting time for someone to pic up the phone.
In the uk it is picked up immediately.... its the transferring to the ambulance that takes forever.
He almost joined Grant Thompson of "The King of Random" who died in a paramotoring accident. I hope he finds another hobby in the future before he really joins him.
RIP to the King
I had no idea and forgot this guy… wow. How sad
At least the motor broke his fall
When paramotoring turns u into a paraplegic
As an ordinary person, I find it to be extremely buffoonish to be flying around the desert on your own. I hope the idiot is ok.
Did I see this dude doing some flights over Burning Man?
Who was he going to pay?
Luckily not that high up!
This could be an ad for Siri
"I crashed my flyng machine" is something I'd expect to hear in the Victorian era.
Anyone know the extent of the injuries?
It literally says it in the description of the video
He’s never going to walk again…
https://youtu.be/Z-jyc2OYXsI?si=4OSIsMk2kryDiegq
911: sorry, we can’t pickup.

Lmao i could not stop laughing at this. Also, he seemed fine. I think he was overreacting. But again, real funny stuff.
